Salary caps in the us are put on the team, so they have a budget of “x” to spend on wages, if they go over that they get a progressive fine.
It’s up to the clubs how they choose to spend that. Some will get 2/3 big star players and then essentially have the rest of their team on minimum wage contracts, other teams may spread the wage to have better depth etc.
The key point though, is that all the players are owned by the league and essentially are rented by the clubs on a contract, which is probably why it’s a lot easier to have these caps in place. Players move via trades not real financial deals like you have over here, so there’s none of these 200m pricetags etc.
I agree about excessive wages but why isn't applied to all businesses? I wonder how much nfl clubs or the league make in revenue each year.

Football is massively platformed on sponsorship. How many ads are played on BT and Sky... how many products and brands have logos in the stands, on the shirts, on the barriers, on the pitch, in half the stadium names themselves... the money is coming from all the companies who invest in the global shop window that is the premier league. The fans who complain to the clubs are complaining to the wrong people. Voice your opposition to the money.
It is tho. It's why sky pay so much because they can get it back and more they advertising. It's simple logic and math

I don't know about China but in India you can watch almost every game. On television it's basically free and for streaming it's a part of India's version of Disney plus (hotstar)
