Sometimes it is difficult to play a piece you have played so many times, so many years, from sounding mechanical. This recording sounds fresh, great tempo and interpretation, wonderful registration changes to bring out all of Bach's hidden passages that are gems to the ear when played like this!

I remember watching you play this piece back in the day when you wore sneakers and I was amazed you were able to pedal at all, let alone so well. I don’t play it anywhere near your standard yet I know the “high” it gives me so I can’t imagine how it must make you feel. That bottom pedal note,, WOW. As a listener thousands of miles away I thank you .I wonder if Bach even entertained the thought that so many years after his death people would still be playing and loving this piece and getting so much pleasure from it, thanks JS and thanks Gert.
