    I have a 2010 Premio I noticed the engine check light come up permanently on my dashboard. ..then I noticed VB that whilst driving the radio chips out like for a second and the steering wheel sticks during that same time too.( Scary indeed) I checked my technician and he told me that the valvematic need cleaning.

      @@m.morininvestor9920 The ZR engine family is high on the list of reliability as long you maintain it. The only issue with these engines is the VVT gear screeching on cold starts.

      @@m.morininvestor9920 '04 Matrix has the 1ZZ-FE engine, I'd say it's more reliable but they still had problems like oil consumption especially in earlier years however the VVT gear rattle problem didn't happen as often as it did in the 2ZR-FE, it became much more prominent after it came out in 2009. That's why there was a TSB on it shortly after.

    I came here to find out the difference between Toyota's old VVT-i, versus, the newer Valvematic... and I don't think it was clearly explained.

    • @Rassy_
      @Rassy_ Před rokem

      The major difference would be Valvematic as well as incorporating VVT-i tech (which mainly deals with adjusting the timing of the valves), Valvematic also takes care of the valve lift control, depending on the driver's power requirements, so this provides a battery air intake into the cylinders
