You are spot on. I am British but live in Romania now and have travelled all over Eastern Europe and to Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Czechoslovakia etc, just love it. Good hard working people that know hardship and that gives them a special quality. All the crap you hear in the West about Russia, is simply garbage. The churches there and here in Romania are stunning and people in Russia and Eastern Europe couldn't give a stuff about what the West says, they just get on with life. I love Romania and made it home and will be here the rest of my life, as it has many similarities with Russia. I will also take more trips to Russia over next few years, up through Siberia and further West.

There are many, many things that are better than with the US (inexpensive delicious food, more freedom of speech, more nature, good housing is many times cheaper, perfect and almost free Internet), but there are also disadvantages that you may not like. Very long distances, below the salary, you need to constantly think about what you are doing. Don't trust anyone but your parents and friends. ) and in General-it is good here

@@borismor1 наоборот, не совпала. У него американская камера, компенсирует моргание на 60 Гц, а у нас 50 Гц. Несовпадение рисует бегающие полосы. (да, плазменные ТВ самые дешевые все ещё мерцают подсветкой 50 раз, несмотря на обновление экрана 60 раз видеосигналом. телевизоры подороже просто удваивают моргание до 100 Гц. Самые крутые не моргают в принципе - питая подсветку постоянным, а не переменным током)
Если бы совпало - они были бы либо темными, либо светлыми, либо с неподвижными полосами. компенсация смотрит на мограние и делает кадры с полностью светлым экраном (или комнатой/улицей). Компенсация не может этого сделать, если она ждёт другую частоту.

Maria Pol ничего подобного , обычный прогресс пакетики потом тубусы с отверстиями. Англичане очень ограниченные и кузни у них нет как например во Франции. Во Франции чай есть, но правильным считается в пакетиках и места где заваривают нужно поискать. В США только со своей заваркой ехать.
Алексей полно в Лондоне магазинов с чаем на развес. А пакетики вам что? Это просто удобная упаковка. На качество не вляет.

That tea aisle was crazy lol. In the USA most people don’t drink tea, so our tea variety is extremely small, compared to the Russian one. This was really interesting. I like seeing what other countries have in their grocery stores.
so true! I never thought about the rates of tea/coffee consumption in my country. But when I started travelling (mostly in Europe) I noticed that the tea selection is quite modest compared to ours... At my office we've got a 2 m high cupboard with 30-40 sorts of tea! and it's common to have 5-6 cups of tea during a day - with each meal and in between, cuz why not)
American's don't really drink tea, you must not be from the south.
It was hard to find good tea or even any tea in Spain (Barcelona). They opt to coffee too.
The problem with most modern supermarkts is that the tea there is cheap and not tasty full with synthetic aroma. When you buy tea from a professional tea shop it taste so so much better. And you have to know exactly how to dose, how long it has to steep,...etc. Also water quality has an huge impact. For beginners I always recommend rooibos orange or original chai tea. because these days we are used to very strong flavors and these two have very strong taste. Also christmas teas in wintertime with cinnamon, orange, apples, cloves is very delicious.

Cool :) This was not supermarket but rather megamall like Walmart :) And that big alcohol section - good to have a choice. Statistically in Russia average alcohol consumption in litres per person in a year is less than in many EU countries, US or especially Japan :)

Note that there are no people near all this alcohol section. In Russia, people have started consuming much less alcohol.
That's cause many people drink very often and other drink like everyday
Many of my friends and I have also stopped drinking alcohol. We stopped smoking, I haven't smoked for more than 10 years. There have been huge changes since the 90s. People begin to think and take care of their health.

This "real life" sort of video is more interesting than travelogues.
Russians sure like their candies, and desserts, and sweet breads, etc. I know this because when I lived in Illinois there was a bigger Russian community at this one location and I would go into that store and I would see the whole varieties of sweets that they would have.
I found out Russians like to entertain, and feed visitors real well. It's a custom, from what I understand, to bring candy, or wine, or flowers, or a small token or trinket when visiting a friend in Russia. Russians like conversation and fun. They like to laugh and enjoy each others company. My cousin married a Russian woman and the world of Russia opened up with her in the family. She seems to be the only Russian in my small city. I'm helping my cousin locate recent immigrants from Russia, so they can get together with my cousins wife, and help each other understand that not all Americans are rude. Also to have support in learning English.

It’s true but I’m Russian and I prefer do not buy sweets and desserts because they made out of palm oil and lots of flavorings! It’s really hard to find natural sweets here!!!
Here in Austria (not Australia !) we also have such "small" stove.
Americans need a big stove because a whole turkey needs to fit.

It makes me happy to see this fabulous store. When I was last in Russia, in 1989, nobody could even dream of a store like this in Russia. They have come a looooooong long way in these short 30 years!
believe it or not, but some people say that stores and food in USSR were BETTER.
И самое удивительное, что в конце этого долгого пути они поняли, что шли совсем не туда. Очень многие готовы обратно вернуться даже к пустым прилавкам 1989 года, а не только к относительному изобилию 1975 года, лишь бы не знать никогда и не видеть все остальное. что сопутствует этим товарам, с яркими упаковками, но далеко не всегда качественными внутри.

WOW! There is a big difference in our malls and stores. I loved the lights as well. I guess it shows how much more Americans buy and store than in Russia. Maybe everywhere. My aunt came from Germany, thought we were crazy because we shopped for groceries for a week! She shopped every day for hers. I remember opening her fridge and finding only condiments in it, LOL for me it was funny but her that was normal. Great show.
Natural dairy products and bread are stored for 3-7 days, it is better to buy fresh every 2 days than to throw out the spoiled one.

These large hypermarkets with 64 manned checkout lanes are becoming more common for people with cars since they are located outside the city centers. I never shop in them because fresh food, great farm-fresh produce, chicken, eggs, milk, etc are available in every neighborhood from small shops to medium-sized. Fresh bulk caviar by the scoop, Smetana (a nicer thick cultured cream similar to /sour cream in the US is used a lot as topping for soups.
Russians mostly drink beer and wine, which most of what was shown was, and drink less than most other European countries. Tea is the national drink. Coffee shops are everywhere.
Appliances are apartment-sized, same in the US in big cities. New apartments are getting larger but they are not in the city centers so have to be larger. Living out of the center means spending more time at home like in US suburbs where homes are larger and people stay home watching tv instead of going out for fun, culture and recreation. I moved from Marin Co just normal of San Francisco to Russia in 2000. My home there was 14 rooms for 1 person but I first apartment in St Petersburg was a small studio or 34 sq meters. Getting used to a smaller space was remarkably easy because it was in the heart of the old city with drama, museums, clubs, thousands of restaurants and GREAT social and cultural life. I have a larger apartment now, just a couple blocks away from the first one and now would not want a large home again. I was a car nut in California and on my ranch built a large barn just for storing my car collection. Here, I have a much more exciting interesting life and most of it is outside the home. I never got a car, they are not needed here because public transportation is so good, convenient and cheap.
If you are on disability you really could live a lot better on your fixed income in Russia. Being married to a Russian citizen makes it easy. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have moved here for the high quality of life, great access to the arts, culture, medical care low cost of living, low stress, safe and friendly. None of the division and hate from politics and cultural differences. All races get along fine here, people only judge you on your character, not skin color, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or political views. Russia is growing and the income from the modest taxes goes to infrastructure development not foreign wars and giveaways to large corporations. If you have kids, they would get a much better education here and free university.
@@L2theWcarscoffeelife There are not many grocery shops in the center of Moscow, you are right. But there are not many dwelling houses in the center either. The majority of Moscovites are living on the outskirts of the city. Over there you will find a great deal of small and medium-size groceries. Since the Soviet times, there is a rule to have a grocery store withing a walking distance from any house in dwelling districts in cities and towns. I live on the very outskirts of Moscow, 15-minutes of walk from one of the last metro stations on the South-West. There are 3 grocery stores just of 2-3-minute walk from my house and another 2 - 5-6-minute walk, and still another 2 big stores of 10-minute walk. At the metro station, there are several huge trading centers with two large grocery stores. AND two farm-markets with fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and fish, spices and dry fruit, etc. All of this is very typical for every dwelling district of Moscow right outside the inner metro ring.
@@L2theWcarscoffeelife Yeah... there is a rule that within a dwelling district there must be all necessary things around of 10-15-minute walk - a school and a kinder-garden, a pharmacy and a post-office, and a state medical center (polyclinic) + grocery stores. This is a still working plan for all Russia's cities ))

The variety is not that big. There are just a lot of cans of the same type of beer. But that beer section is still quite large even to the Russian standards. Most grocery stores in my home country have liquor sections that resemble something like the Real Canadian Superstore or kind of mix of IGA and Maxi
I wish we had supermarkets like that here in my country, Norway. We probably have the smallest supermarkets in the world, with very, very, very extremely little selection of goods compared to that small supermarket in Russia (I heard her say it was a small supermarket, but it is the biggest I have seen ever!)

They were very obliging and apologetic about the whole thing and let me on my way after filling in a simple form)) They're not so scary (based on that one time and that i'm a law abiding resident)

Absolutely not! We are absolutely not a coffee nation. We are a tea nation. Even a Russian 'coffeman' drinks tea everyday whole day, but one or two times per day they drink a coffee and named it 'becomes crazy by coffee'

Сейчас переселенцам большой свет дан в России. Русские, советские граждане возвращаются в Россию. Даже Целая семья переехала из Австралии, русский не знали. А сейчас они фермеры, получили землю и получили российское гражданство

Конечно в наши духовки не засунешь 20-ти килограммовую индейку. И если даже только молоко у них покупают канистами (галоном), а это почти 3,8 литра! Конечно и стандартные холодильники у них больше. Просто отличия, ничего здесь обидного нет. В Индии, даже у среднего класса, ванная, это наш душ в общаге.
ну вот я люблю готовить, живу сейчас на украине, в доме эконом класса и у меня 6 комфорочная плита шириной 90 см, туда влазит любая индейка. да я ее 12 лет назад привез из европы и она не американская. у американцев кроме драндулетов ниче так особо большого и нет. хотя у моих предков стоит Frigidaire в гараже с двумя створками, с удивлением узнал что это уже давно европейская контора
Мне нравится что у нас в России и странах снг жизнь приспособлена для того чтобы жить одному. Можно купить конфеты на развес, хоть по 1 каждого вида бери, молоко есть по литру, есть по поллитра, овсяное молоко вообще по 0,25, что очень удобно. А в сша все больше заточено на то что семья большая и много ест. Как там люди-одиночки выживают с такими большими порциями, холодильниками и прочим я не знаю

Неправильное представление у вас насчёт кухонной мебели, стоят не маленькие кухни, а просто пример, а заказать можно из этих модулей кухни длиной хоть 2, хоть 5 или 10 метров, смотря какая кухни по площади. Сейчас кухни бывают по площади очень большие.
А куда они ставить эти кухни длиной в 10 метров будут ? За городом дома большего размера и естественно больше места для кухни. Все что он сказал это что квартиры в многоэтажках маленькие по сравнению с домами и так как большинство населения в городах живёт в квартирах то и бытовая техника с кухней соответственного размера
И мы не проводим свою жизнь в кухнях, независимо от того маленькие они или большие. Вокруг столько всего интересного: концерты, выставки, театры, прекрасные улицы и парки. Да, порции у нас, как верно замечено, поменьше, отсюда и размерчики от s до максимум x😊

А вот сколько процентов японцев могут себе позволить такую обыденную для нас вещь , которая стоит копейки , как садовый участок 6 - 10 соток , с возможностью выращивать на этой земле для себя всё , что заблагорассудится и построить там свой , пусть даже небольшой домик или дом , для кого как.
Автора канала удивил не размер самой кухни, а размер отдельных ее частей. Бытовая техника, мойки, шкафы - в США всё это огромное, громоздкое.

It's very interesting to see real life in Russia. Hell... if I didn't know better, it almost looked like you were in a Costco in America. Its fascinating to me to see how Russians live. My entire life, I was taught to hate Russia but they are very similar to us in everyday life.
I think Costco can't be compared with Russian supermarkets. Costco is warehouse not just grocery store where you can buy a single item. Also range of items in Russian supermarkets are a lot wider than in Costco. Moreover it is wider than in any American chain grocery store. I had kinda cultural shock in Russian supermarket.😁

It was funny to hear about tea😁Russians like to drink tea a lot, it’s our tradition. And the volume of packs isn’t so big like in USA. We like to prepare home food so it’s normal size for cooking.
Auchan is a chain of a big shopping malls which was created in France and later imported to Russia. The size and variety in those is probably the biggest I've experienced so far traveling in Europe and Russia. I really like going there because you can always find everything you're searching for and some things are just unbeatable in their price!
Once I desperately wanted try a special sort of salted fish. I searched everywhere and either haven't found it or the price was just so damn high that it wasn't worth it. In Auchan I found about 150+ grams of it for just around 2$. Of course it most probably wasn't wild fish but I really was desperate to try it. I was so happy! :)

Interesting comments regarding coffee tea shops. In the UK we spend time in coffee shops socialising with family and friends. However, being gluten intolerant is proving limiting. Im sure im not the only person in the world with this problem lol

My wife and I always like to visit grocery stores when we travel and that's always in the states. So it was interesting to see a grocery store in Russia. It is a very nice looking store. And of course I can resist seeing a hardware store so it was interesting to see the Home Depot there as I am a fan of Home Depot.

My god man... when you went into the alcohol section... I thought to myself, aside the most gorgeous white women in the world, here's the 2nd best reason to go to Russia! For me, this is what paradise looks like! I mean, here, in the Balkans, we drink a lot, by obviously, we have to ut down our hats to Russians! I also never seen that much alcohol in a store, and I've been in quite a few places!

We just love the variety in alcohol. Drinking strong drinks is a whole tradition in Russia. And people take drinks seriously. Some may spend hours walking along these rows carefully and thoughtfully choosing one single bottle. And shops are simply forced to exhibit whole "model lines." Because if I don’t find exactly the drink that I want at that moment (on the basis of the "here and now" principle). I will not go to this store anymore. Because they could not satisfy my needs.
Just imagine how much alco in two stores!

Там именно основная масса населения пропитано таким русофобским менталитетом, а политики просто это умело культивируют и распространяют ещё более через свои законы, которые претят общечеловеческой морали.

Most of russians prefer tea over coffee. For example I drink around 1.5-2 liters tea every day and never drink coffee

@@L2theWcarscoffeelife we become addicted to coffee, with different speed from region to region, but yes. 1-2cups of strong 2x espresso a day + plenty of sublimated (i and my wife can finish 225grams pack just in 1 month). But black Tea is a king, it is 9.30morninh, and i already had 1 cup of nescafe and 2 bowls (400ml each) of my fav strong tea 😁
