Western media has portrayed Russia as a backwards nation. I’m a home renovator in Kansas City, USA 🇺🇸. This Russian Store is better than our Home Depot.
But in USA you have much better prices. For example, if I wanna buy, let's say, DeWalt router, in Russia I gotta pay almost twice as more than in US.

Impressive store. Many in northamerica like to think Russia is more backward than we are. A trip through a store like this one tells a different story.Our Big bos stores such as Home Depot, Lowes etc dont have the selection they have in this store
Unfortunately people’s perceptions in the west are due to our media. Western media only reports on Russia when something negative happens there. Never when it’s something positive.

I come to this store, this is the Leroy Merlin chain, I collect goods, order delivery so that I don't carry heavy things myself. I buy wallpaper, chandeliers, laminate flooring, tile curtains, paint in this store (there is a color matching service according to ral or sample), I also buy chipboard for furniture (a locker on the balcony, a shelf in the bathroom). Chipboard will be cut according to your size and the edge is glued. Carpets can also be bought, any plumbing - pipes, faucets, sink, acrylic or cast iron bathtub.... A large assortment of all goods for repair. I really like this store. Come to Russia to see how we live. I don't think we're backward. In every remote village, the Internet is so cheap that we watch movies, clips, listen to music only via the Internet, I forgot about CDs. Children from the age of 2 know how to turn on the computer themselves, find their own games, cartoons. Our streets are clean, beautiful, it's quite difficult to see a drunk or a beggar. Many are not rich, but they live with dignity. I have two apartments (one bought for my daughter), both apartments are equipped with modern furniture, each has a washing machine and dishwasher, refrigerator, a lot of household appliances. We go to relax at the sea, go for a walk on weekends, go to the river to swim in the summer.... come to make sure - we are not backward at all))) And we don't want to attack anyone.

Да,мне нельзя ходить в магазины, вечно полные телеги ,хотя приходил по мелочи ,например за саморезами.
Относительно кровельного листа Джош мы просто идем к производителю, заказываем нужные размеры. Он его изготавливает нам с покрытием поверхности специальной краской, например Norman, оплачиваем доставку и нам ее очень бережно привозят. Все без проблем.
Да у нас тоже такое есть, и на прилавках не выложено и 5 процентов что доступно в интернете с доставкой.
Так приятно смотреть, как наши иностранные друзья открывают для себя обыкновенный быт в России. На многие вещи уже давно не обращаю внимания.

И это на фоне ПОТРЯСАЮЩЕЙ бытовой отсталости в той же самой Америке! Там до сих пор продают стиральные машины образца 50-х годов 20-го века! Это, типа., американский стандарт. Это как в Англии, которая не знает, что такое смеситель на водопроводном кране. Нет в Англии смесителей. Так, как при королеве Виктории поставили водопровод с двумя кранами, холодным и горячим, так до сих пор и делают.

Братишка пару месяцев жил в Англии, в семье (обучающая программа, когда в семьи подселяют).
Так говорил, мало того что из одного крана ледяная бежит, а из другого кипяток. Так, они ещё просили, долго воду не использовать 🤦♂️ типа дорого.
А Братишка, привык утром и вечером купаться, ему сложно было к их традициям привыкать 🤣🤣
Во время FIFA-2018 у меня открылись глаза. Я футбольный фанат и на правах принимающей стороны мы частенько сиживали по барам с гостями. Было интересно пообщаться. Иностранцы с большим удивлением смотрели на нас, когда мы оплачивали счёт в очередном питейном заведении. Один платищ кариой, а осталтные ему просто по номеру телефона кидали суммы БЕЗ КОМИССИИ! Для них это был какой-то неведомый коммунизм и хайтек! 😂 И в каждом заведении бесплатный вайфай. Особенно удивляло, что у многих в метро нет вайфая. Даже гражданин США ходил там как в музее, не только из-за архитектуры. В общем комплиментов мы наслушались. Даже сами удивлялись в какой прекрасной стране живём! 😂
И ещё при расселении один спросил назвать гетто в Москве, чтобы знать где нельзя снимать квартиру. Я пытался что-то придумать... Ведь есть же нехорошие районы. Но так и не смог назвать ни один из них опасным. А на уточняющий вопрос "тогда подскажи улицы где открыто торгуют наркотиками" мы просто все хором рассмеялись.
Вот им там промывают про нас мозги. А нам про них, наверняка.

Quite an impressive store! Very modern, and very well stocked.
It's still a mass market with a variety of most common goods people usually need. But there are also different specialized shops of course if you wanna do some serious construction or need something more spesific.
@@nedyzhe for example hilti doesn’t have any offline stores at all. I guess they have places where you can pickup bought online things but who needs it when delivery exists.

Excellent video! That hardware store has a much wider variety than home Depot or Lowe's here in the US. The price is due seem high though, but as others have said, we have a lot of cheap Chinese options instead of buying brands like DeWalt or Bosch. Keep up the great work!

Here in States I used to buy DeWalt grinder for about 70$. Here they show grinder for 120$ So yeah bit more expensive. Also to keep in mind the Russian income/salary is lower then in US, so it is quite expensive for locals with local salaries against foreign prices.
There are much cheaper russian options available. It's only if you insist on buying branded imported tools like DeWalt or Bosch you have to pay double if not tripple compared to russian produced tools, which aren't any worse really.

There are good domestic options in Russia, but if you really want to buy imports, I'd definitely go for Makita or Metabo. DeWalt and Bosch can't compare quality-wise. Also, online shopping gives much better options and prices.
Russians writing here discuss the difference of having a house in Australia and Siberia - here you will have to pay more for frost insulation but not drive away crocodiles and other dangerous kangaroos 😁

I'd compare the assortment to big hardware stores in Germany, like OBI. There's no "tryout" section, no decorative steel component and the construction stuff is not of such variety, like in Russia. Much more garden stuff, though.
Also, the armored doors - i bet rather a house goes down around this door and still it will stand.)
Russia is a cold country. Citizens there live in heavy brick houses with solid concrete walls. It's very rare someone uses wood for exterior construction. Never glass for outside doors. That's why it's always more expensive to build a house in Russia.
There are OBI chain stores in Russia too.
They are not armored))) There are thick layer of insulation inside. Metal cover is very thin actually.

You can return tge goods that do not meet your quality expectations within certain period or exchange for a a different one. And also in this very store chain you can return the unused residual material.

Россия разная и везде строят по разному от Краснодара до Владивостока куча климатических зон и они явно не определились с тем где осядут

I'm actually impressed! They have more stuff available than our Lowe's. I find it incredible they carry DeWalt, Metabo and Makita power tools. I'd figure they'll carry the Russian rebrand equivalent to a harbor freight brand. I'm curious to see what brands of hand tools they carry.
Никакого ребрендинга нет, так как у нас ещё есть куча собственных производителей, которые ничем не уступают вашим фирмам, и они стоят примерно столько же сколько ваши в вашей стране, так что все нормально ваши инструменты хорошие и очень зарекламированные и плюс их привозят с другой страны поэтому они дороже чем у вас, а наши инструменты девевле и качество такое же вот и все, но на видео он не снял наши инструменты, но они в этом магазине есть, там много чего есть, если все снимать это очень долго

У меня есть их миксер - за свои деньги отличный инструмент, но больше почти ничего и нет. По качеству "наши" инструменты так же уступают. К сожалению.
Profiled sheet with a high wave up to 114 mm is sold in specialized organizations. In such stores, it is not in demand. For construction, it is better to use online stores. In Leroy, I buy only different small things. Good luck with the construction.

leroy merlin is the shop for apartment renovation. Not for building new home. prices are high, assortment for repair. tools are mostly "disposable", especially low priced.
I would never have guessed it was anything like this in a Russian store.

Interesting video, I really don’t see much difference between USA and Russian stores except price and maybe the fact that in the Russian store they seem to bundle more options in the store possibly to save some time wondering around different stores to complete your project. Since most big box home improvement stores here in USA tend to be in close proximity to one and other I really don’t see anything special about Russian big box hardware store. There are many small shops with construction goods in Russia, as well as competing retail chains. So it seems to me there is no difference, it's all the same all over the world.
I am surprised to see such a massive supermarket dedicated to tools and hardware materials. Until I saw the video I did not know Russia is also very advanced in this kind of stuff on par with Europe and USA. I have not seen any such stores in India where I live.Strangely we don't find any hand or powertools made in Russia.We only see China products.Thank you for the video.
A lot of Russian brands of appliances, electronics, clothing and everything you need for life have English and German names. Because of what the Russians themselves think that there is nothing of their own. The origin of the goods can be determined only by reading the place of origin of the goods on the label or in the operating instructions. I once bought a "German" screwdriver with a German word as a brand. And only after a month of use I saw: "production address Yekaterinburg, Russian Federation".
Because like rest of the world we too are brainwashed by western media and our local media that only western countries are of high standard but truth is west is crumbling .
@@rastimirkravtsov3827 как практика показывает, российское название на паспорте или на самом товаре, это в основном юридический адрес российской компании, которая организовала выпуск данного бренда, но само производство (достаточно дешёвое) обычно находится в Китае, при чём на одном и том же заводе делают одну и туже модель, только крепят к ним разные названия (в том числе и русские), а так же указывают на упаковках и инструкциям к ним разные русские компании из разных городов России, которые просто в Китае заключают договор на сборку большой партии понравившейся им модели инструмента под российским брендом. И таких моделей инструмента с российским брендом на нашем прилвке в магазине может быть несколько сразу, но все они китайского производства и сборки и даже внешне и технически не отличаются, просто различная расветка и упаковка с русскими названиями, а сам товар китайский. Это как сейчас запускают российский автомобиль Москвич, только вот сама машина и все комплектующие исключительно придуманы и сделаны в Китае, просто русский шилдик на машину прилепят и вот тебе 2импортозамещение"
@@sergeysiberian9571 это тоже есть. Но именно про то что у нас делат писал. А москвич этот будут переваривать основательно, локализуя всё что можно в России. Импортозамещение и локализация идут и это не пустой звук. Камаз бы загнулся без полумерседесовского двигателя и коробки zf, потому всё теперь делает сам под своими наименованиями. Процесс долгий и начался не вчера. Ничего быстро не происходит.

Ты не прав. Мы никогда не кроем крышу в 4 слоя. Кроим в 1 слой, но под него делаем деревянную обрешетку, доски толщиной 50 мм., и свободно ходим по крыше. Крышу делаем высокой, что бы снег не держался на крыше. На деревянную обрешетку укладываем не промакаемую ткань, чтобы не было конденсата. А при желании , если нужно утеплить, то легкий теплоизоляционный материал. Крыша не течет.

Скорее это неправильные субтитры. Думаю он имел ввиду, что при настиле металлочерепицы при перехлесте в некоторых местах сходятся 4 листа(так бывает если длина металлочерепицы меньше длины ската крыши), тем самым листы каждый раз сдвигаются на несколько миллиметров вниз и дальше было сказано, что из-за этого сложно держать крышу ровно.

Here's my take. Our Home Depot and Lowe's lows in CA were pretty good. I don't think they are worse than Russian stores. They probably even have slightly more name brand stuff. But yeah, Russian hardware stores aren't bad at all. Where I live (in Krasnodar) you also have Kuban Instrument which is great for high quality tools. Also there is "the market" with a lot of little stores and stands where you can find all sorts off stuff. One thing that's nice here, is there are often a lot of local stores near apartment buildings, like within 5 minutes walk, so if you need to fix something fast you can often just go down the elevator. The selection is of course not as much as the big stores but it is super convenient.

About 15 or so years ago, there were some sense to bring a tool from USA to Russia (my dad runs car body shop). At least something special.
Nowadays there is positively no difference between, let's say, my local Home Depot and Russian analogue of such kind of store except the brands represented there.

Я как 30 лет назад уехал из СССР, смотрю видео и балдею, в советскоевремя о таком можно было мечтать, помню мне нужны были тиски для гаража, в магазинах не было, договорился с мужиками принесли с завода .
А сейчас выбор есть, но денег нет ;) мне кажется переизбыток денег лучше, чем переизбыток товара.

Like a Russian quality control office, a 3-year warranty. Service centers with adequate prices for repairs. It makes sense. Bunnings is a bit shit to be honest. Lots of cheap stuff that breaks the moment it gets home. They were really cool when they first appeared but they haven't changed much since because they have no competition.

Large thin iron sheets in Russia are usually used for fences or upholstery of houses. They don't put such sheets on roofs.
Looks exactly like our Home Depot or Lowe’s in the US. It makes sense as most of the stuff in our big box hardware stores get their stuff from China, so does Russia. No sanction issue with respect to this type of stuff

@@tovCyxov у меня профессиональный перфоратор бош лежит ,месяц отработал и сдох ,заводской брак .а напарник бывший как то Шурик бош взял ,за пол года два раза в ремонте .(к слову я шурики ,предпочтения отдаю Хитачи ,ещё не разу не подвели ,хотя минус у них тоже есть , аккумуляторы не отличаются долговечностью). Леруа неплохой магазин ,я себе дом когда строил ,ламинат там набрал ,цена /качество на высоте было .
Самое хорошее- это Макита. Перфоратор Бош вообще не ломается.

American friend! This is reseller. it is useful if you buy very small amount of materials. Any wood material or roof material or other big amounts better to buy at specific suppliers or direct from manufaturers. at least you can buy material the exact size you needs. i mean you can buy materials for roof any length you need. they will have special profile, to don’t shift down.

I agree with you, I live with the author in the same city (Novosibirsk), the prices for it increased last year due to a shitty pandemic, I certainly understand that it is fashionable to use it now, but not to that extent .. I do not belong to the class of amateurs of this material)) In general, prices for all building materials have skyrocketed, this summer I built a country house and bought it for 15,000 rubles. Cedar planed timber 150 x 150 (about $ 204 per cubic meter) last year cost 8,000 rubles ($ 107) Feel the difference :)

This looks like Leroy Merlin which is suited to doing ремонт, but if you're talking about building a home or doing serious work, you need a builders market.

Hardware used to sell all nails and screws either by weight quantity in the west, then greed took over.
In my local town hardware store they sell like this. Very convenient, and affordable!
@@digimaks Totally agree with you. For example, I only need 16 screws. I go to the store and buy exactly 16 screws, not a large package of 50 or 100 screws. Why do I need 100 screws when I only use 16. I always buy exactly as much as I need, plus a little stock just in case. It is economical and you do not need to store excess somewhere later.

Cabinets look too European ( i.e. small and plastic ). For Americans and Aussies there might be a need for some custom build. Everything else is definitely up to par.
There are plenty modular ones, which you can compose into any shape and size.
This store looks almost exactly like the Ikea in my country. The carpark, entrance from carpark to store, store layout, price labels, display racks/shelves, checkout counters, isle signs, assistance desks, etc. It's nice and functional.
That's true. In Russia, Ikea looks the same. Usually all large shops have underground parking. But more often than not, building materials stores have parking on the ground floor level. It is more convenient than underground parking as it is easier to take out the purchased large goods on a trolley.

You're right, that's Ikea's mall in Novosibirsk called "Mega". There's three large shops in it: Ikea, Auchan and Leroy Merlin.
In St. Petersburg, both Mega malls look very similar tho . So I suspect Ikea's malls are built using the same base project all over the world. )

Да магазины в России конечно очень сильно отличаются от тех, какие они были, когда я уезжал оттуда в 90-е. Сейчас они уже переплюнули своих европейских коллег.
Кстати болты и гвозди в Германии тоже можно купить на развес, ну или в коробках иногда, зависит от типа.
С 90ми, конечно, очень сильно все поменялось

Все таки Leroy merlin - это магазин строительного ширпотреба. Рассчитанный на то, что человек заехал и закупился мимоходом много всего и сразу. Выбор профессионального инструмента там не велик. Стройматериалы, какие то в ассортименте и хорошем качестве - какие то лучше даже не смотреть. Какой нибудь сантехники, там почти нет выбора. Как магазин где все в одном месте он неплох. Но когда нужно что то специализированное, для строительства или ремонта - лучше смотреть в специализированных магазинах или строительных базах.
Смеситель потёк, у Петровича др, надо ему мангал взять, а точно тёща же сажает огурцы. Хорошо что все эти вопросы можно решить в одном магазине за пол часа. Собственно никто и не ждёт от него большего.

Weighing bolts or nails oneself: I used to do so at hardware stores here in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, some 30 years ago. Nowadays, many articles like these tend to be prepackaged in blisters or similar. Weighing vegetables or fruits oneself in my nearest supermarket lasted a few years, some 25 years ago. However, buying sweets (in your own mix of flavours) can still be done (though not at hardware stores...)
And like at your hardware shop, ever more supermarkets provide self-scanning upon check-out, so the weighing must be about to come back.

Не знаю как в вашем регионе обитания, а у нас в Москве есть такие же Строительные гипермаркеты, которые работают круглосуточно.

3 года назад покупал в леруа шурик деволт 18 вольт (который он показал в видео) он стоил 6500, я думал что это дорого. Цены взлетели в космос, особенно на металл и дерево
