- I loved this song. We are proud to have our family, and if there is anything we could do to encourage people who are on the fence of starting a family, we would do it. Thank you for hanging out with us for my first-time reaction to Our House.

Iconic. One of their sweetest tunes. Graham Nash and Joni Mitchell were a couple living together when Graham wrote this to Joni after a day they spent together around town. Simple, sweet, brilliant. If you don't know Joni's music yet I recommend checking her out. Considered one of if not the best female singer-song writer-musician of the 20th century, between the 1960s and 90s. She's in her 80s now, still singing. Here is a special montage of photos of Joni and Graham during this period, with the tune in the background: czcams.com/video/rrW7Mc3_wSc/video.html So beautiful and nostalgic! sighhh. (That last shot of them together was taken maybe 15 yrs ago.)
Thanks! 😂 I saw that fact on a documentary about Laurel Canyon. Apparently, the best place to be a hippy musician? 🙂
Peace y'all
Now listen to "Teach Your Children Well " CSNY
Yes!!! Please!!!
Definitely
Our daughter chose Teach YourChildren Well as her father/daughter dance at her wedding.
With Jerry Garcia on steel guitar.
This song was written by Graham Nash while he was living with Joni Mitchell in Laurel Canyon. Teach your Children Well is also great.
"Teach Your Children Well" is the perfect song to compliment this one! Hope you react to it!
What makes this song so special is enjoying the simple things in life that make life worthwhile. No mansions, no swimming pools, no elaborate life style. Just one couple content with their lives of just being together.
My wife and I have always loved this band and all of their fabulous music. When we were moving into our first apartment I quickly put the stereo together and played our house. In a few days that will be 41 years ago. Great music should be a great part of our lives.
Having kids is harder but much more worth it. It’s a love you can never describe to someone.
This song was written about the day they (Graham and Joni) had just spent at the local market where Joni had bought a vase she liked.
Graham sat at her piano
and composed this very
quickly. He used to write numerous songs
at the drop of a hat.
“Immigration man” is about being held up trying to enter the States from Canada.
“Just a song before I go”
was written because someone bet Graham he
couldn’t write a song before his plane boarded to leave.
Each of the members were phenomenal song writers, but I, personally,
have always preferred
Graham’s “window” into his soul. ❤❤
Nash explained that the lyrics came from a day that he spent with Joni Mitchell. The vase, the cats etc. It’s all so very sweet. Your wife has good taste.😊
It's a sweet love song from Graham Nash to Joni Mitchell.
After all these years, this song remains the epitome of a feel good song.
This group rocks
Suite: Judy Blue eyes is another awesome tune they sing
If you like Harmony Doobie brothers are a great band too
2 great songs Black water and Long train running
According to Graham Nash, he and girlfriend Joni Mitchell were out walking around when Joni stopped to buy a vase she liked and inspired the song.
as someone who has had three children in 3 years... and now they are all young adults on their own, and I spend 99% of my time all alone..... appreciate the times when it's noisy now in your life and busy and you're tired and all those things because they slip away all too soon. 💔
My baby boy is 18 now. My girls are 20 and 33. It has been a long ride. My boy leave for military life in less that 3 weeks. It will be the most difficult thing to endure.
Beautiful, timeless song!
This was our first dance song at our wedding. It brings me back to 1986. We still love this song nearly 38 years later.
Happiness is not hard, but it is intentional.
Ali is so sweet explaining her thoughts! Love yall, love your beautiful family ❤
I love their album! I still have it! Hub and I played their music all the time! Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young started out together, then they split. Later, Crosby, Stills, and Nash got back together and made a lot more music, did concerts, and were incredible. Young rejoined to make an album and stayed with the group for a very short time, then left again. But their music is iconic.
This was 1970 i think. In a similar vein, listen to Loggins and Messina’s 1971 House at Pooh Corner. More about childhood but another great song
I totally agree! I played this song for my 2 daughters and they loved it. It brings tears to my eyes.
OMG - this takes right back to 9th grade. My best friend and I used to sing along with this song all the time.
RE the harmonies - Graham Nash once said that you could take any combination of any 4 voices singing the exact same notes in tune, and you still would never match the quality of these particular 4 voices. He's so right. A once in a lifetime combination.
I was 50 when i became a dad, through adoption, the greatest feeling of completeness, i would encourage consider making a family by adopting
Congratulations! Wishing you and your family the best! ❤
Also, my Dad was 50 yo when I was born and he & I were very close. He passed on when he was 93. ❤
I had never noticed all of the very Beatles-like chords in this one. Thanks!
I am lucky enough to have seen CSN and CSNY live a few times. Their harmonies were always amazing! I can't even count the number of times they gave me chills. Love that you love it!
It was destined to be sung by every young couple back in the day!
Just a song about the pleasures of daily life with the one you love. I sang my kids to bed with this song for years.
My kids are my joy. They 24, 21, and 15 now. Hubby and i have always loved, enjoyed and actually just liked all 3. We Love doing the everyday alone together. The time together with the kids and even their friends and boyfriends are special.
I had a friend who told me that her and her husband were waiting until they were waiting to have a child until they could afford it. I told my father this and he advised that they wont have children.
A Classic that is just as relevant today as yesterday. Great Music never gets dated.
in reference to your comment that the people who usually watch your channel are older - i’m 18 and watch all the time! always enjoy the insight you guys provide 💞
A masterclass in harmony ... the Beatles influence was all encompassing ...
Thumbs up for the song. If all my fingers were thumbs, they would all be thumbs up for the commentary.
SO LOVE both CSN & CSNY!! ALL of their music, to me: PRICELESS TREASURE!! Enjoy!!
It came from the lifestyle of Laurel Canyon, literally 2 music icons who lived there
Graham Nash wrote this for then girl friend singer songwriter Joni Mitchell
The 60s," If you cant be with the one you love love the one you´re with " ..That line maybe C,S,N & Y. song title also -
This is my Mom's generation. She still loves their music
Have not heard that one in a hot minute. Forgot what a good song it is.
Family. You're gonna lose everything anyway, might as well love & be loved thru it all.
One of my all time favorites!! 1971!
So Graham Nash was in the Hollies, a part of the "British Invasion" bands of the 60's. These were bands that were signed after The Beatles and Stones became famous. So he has always had that sense in song writing. So definitely an influence. Check out Just a Song Before I Go, and the story behind it for an example of his mastery of the art.
Earlier years was just Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Loved your stories! If you two haven't reacted to (or listened to) "Cat's In The Cradle" by Harry Chapin you must put it on your list! If you have you already know what I mean!! Peace,
I have a friend that has a beautiful song about something his daughter said to him. His name is C.W. Colt and his daughter told him one time, as she was playing as a super hero, "Daddy, your my best love". My Best Love, look that one up and see how it hits your heartstrings.
You should do a trip to the rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland, it was very interesting for a mtv kid like me😅. You would see a lot of groups/singers that you could research for your channel.
My daughter’s favourite song.
Sweet ❤
Helplessly Hoping is a great song by them as well
Best Freaking Harmonies Ever
Good morning Sebs and Ali hope your day is going well Peace and Love to you both ✌️♥️
They have the best harmonies. I love CSNY.
You are a cute couple. May God bless and protect your family.
I absolutely love this song!
I was just 17 yrs old and serving my country in South Korea, approximately 5 ks from the DMZ. In July of 69 I listened to a boot leg record of Woodstock. I was disappointed that Mr Young joined CS&N, as percussionist. Still "Our House" is among my favorites by CSN&Y.
Like so much great music, this song was inspired by a personal romantic experience. Since it was between music greats, voila!
You guys are LDS, you're suppose to be fruitful and multiply. Most people are not taught that anymore. They are taught to education, job, money, travel, then kids if there is time and career doesn't get in the way. Our population is shrinking related to a few things. Love you guys, you're so cute togeather.
What can compare to the adoring love of a daughter.
Trace Adkins does a song called You're Gonna Miss This (Official Music Video)
Keep going with "Guenivier" and "Teach your Children".
Neil Young is not in this cut. For this album, Deja Vu, Neil sort of did his own thing in his home studio, then brought in his tracks for the others to add their contributions. The other songs, by Crosby, Stills, and Nash were recorded separately with little added by Young.
🎶🥰🥰🎶
Check out "Suite Judy Blue Eyes", "Marakesh Express" and "Teach your Children."
CSNY and Dallas Taylor and Greg Reeves...lol....🤣
I am a fan of CSN, and I don't mind Neil Young joining them. History lesson Stephen Stills and Neil Young were both members of Buffalo Springfield prior to CSN&Y. You should listen to some of their other music, i.e. Wooden Ships, Teach Your Children, Woodstock and Helpless, just to name a few.
OHHHH YEAH, YOU NEED TO DO ( TEACH YOUR CHILDREN ) 😊I BET THAT'LL MOVE YOU GUYS!
This track is written by Graham Nash it’s about his life with Joni Mitchell in California laguna hills
You should listen to Summer breeze by Seals and Crofts , amazing song.
Stephen Stills or Graham Nash I can’t remember which one right now was dating Joannie Mitchell and they went out on a Sunday morning to go to brunch and that whole phrase about A log on the fire and you’ve got the vase on the piano blah blah blah that literally was them coming home from brunch and what they were doing in the house and he wrote a song from it
This song reminds me more of The Hollies.
CNS and sometimes Y 😅😅😅
you don't get this song at all. it One Of the best love songs ever written , And Its for Joni Mitchell.. Look It up by Graham Nash They lived together this time.
Check out Neil Young’s 2004 greatest hits album!
Hello Ali and Sebs, I would like you to react to Charlie Pride, any song it don’t matter, no bad ones with him,)and not because I donated but because I want you to see it’s all about living the dreams in America, Charlie Pride had a very big talent and dream! was just as beautifully talented as he was a that humble kind human being!
Check out Neil Young, Harvest.
You'll find that some of their songs have a Latin beat. Steven Stills is 1/Cuban. He adds that culture to some of the songs.
"Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" being a prime example.
CSN is one of my favorite groups. I’ve seen them several times - with and without Neil Young. It’s great to have children if you want them. But no one should be hassled about having children if they don’t want to have them. Not everyone wants to be a parent.
Neal wrote 4 Dead in Ohio 😢
Not to be a downer here, but you're going to lose all those things anyway if you're lucky enough to get old. Go ahead, have the kids.
Get a job.
I'm out. Congrats, you found the only bubblegum, crap commercial song that one of the greatest groups in the early 70's ever produced. Now play, Carry On, Almost Cut My Hair, Southern Cross, Long Time Coming, Suite, Judy Blue Eyes, etc., etc.
I hope y’all don’t believe this. It got a little deep. I forgot my shovel. I’ve got nothing against kids as long as they are someone else’s.
