Definatly a great option for those wanting a more affordable version, I'm a little tired of D2 steel but it does ok as a budget steel. The rattle is what keeps me from buying one mostly (would drive me nuts lol) and also not available in my area. But definatly a good buy for the quality your getting at that price. I'm so sick of D2 steel myself. remember vg10? you can't even find a a budget made it doesn't come with D2 as the steel hardly anymore that's worth $100 or less. so I live with 440 most of the time. as I always say I'm not chopping down any trees with it.
Grabbed on for my kid, now I want one. It feels really solid for an otf. Very sloppy sharpening job, No fancy details, but I like minimal. seems really good for the cost.

I like almost everything about the knife, the only turn off for me about many OTFs is the that the blade is not centered in the handle. Is purely a personal pet peeve but for some reason we just don't vibe

I just got a ultratech with the hellhound blade it's the tactical version with some dlc on part of the blade,man it's bad ass,microtech makes some great knives 😅

Super solid at least 4 times better than my Lightning. I’m surprised how good it feels. Mine hasn’t misfired once in 2 weeks and I fidget a ton every day.
Why is it better than Lightning?
i got my Lightening for 30 bucks, have had it for about 6 years now without a single fail from it. it feels as springy/punchy as it did when i bought it and i rly can't imagine any complaints other than the steel type (which, for 30 bucks, the listed 440c stainless is beyond incredible... i guess i would like to know the details on the heat treat... for 30 bucks, it's prob not even heat treated at all). but idk...
but i'm totally open to hearing why smthing else miight be better... there's no 'Lightning Pride 4 Life' mindset going on over here lol).

@@luceatlux7087 there's nothing wrong with sticking with your lightning. if it wasn't for talking hands reviewers that gets sent knives to pass around talk about and get free stuff to make content about. you would never care. the lightning will do everything you've ever needed to do. have you cut open a moose lately?

Tends to misfire a lot though, everyone making reviews saying it doesn’t but it does. Still a great otf for the price I happen to have both of these and I use this 100 dollar knife to beat instead of my more expensive knifes
I've fired it about a 1000 times so far zero miss fires but will definitely call it out if it starts
I sat down and ran the Tanto through 250 open/closes with no misfires. The dagger well over 500 with no misfires. Maybe as the spring loosens that will change, but for now, mine is solid and actually has less wiggle and tapping than the one Jared showed in the video. That being said, the blade profile and grind on the dagger definitely wasn't symmetrical, but again not bad for a $100 OTF.
I would like to know the outcome from everyone on this issue.... Misfires are completely unacceptable. As the guy at active self protection (ASP. John Correia) says regarding buying an HK carry pistol... "Shouldn't it be an HK just in case?".. meaning buy quality if you're gonna carry it for self defense purposes Because when you go to use it you want to make sure it works.
@@aarongentile7232 HK is so slept on in the civilian market. Yeah they’re higher priced, but not absurdly higher. One of my older well used USPs that I beat up and don’t clean on purpose has gone years, through thousands of rounds, and still not one failure.

Great video man. I bought a tacknives warncliff with d2 and I can’t believe the quality. It was 170 or so but amazing crazy quality. No rattle and it’s almost like a dead lock with so little play when blade is out. Amazing. You should try them out.
My heart says microtech for the win period. But I remember 20 or 25 years back when I thought a Gerber Gator was a super premium folder couldn'tdo better. And it worked just fine . Until I fell down the rabbit hole. So I guess those type knives are ok. But I'll never go back . Devils done here I'm way to spoiled now.
I was surprised you forgot to mention the lack of a swappable pocket clip for the Lefty's. Thr fatal flaw of this OTF for me and many others i'm sure.
Suggestion: Take a look at the TrenchTek knives $100 OTF ...have a nice day.

Agreed. The Archer is very close to the Microtech Scarab but with a Bohler K110 blade. Almost zero blade play too.

I literally just picked up two of these last week. One week in and I'm super impressed. Solid construction, very tight tolerances, not bad for $100.

@@oliverelliott6770 The Tanto is still going strong. Just as solid as day one (action is a little smoother now). Dagger has misfired twice, but tolerances are still super tight. Still very happy with the purchase. Would absolutely buy again.

Just received mine in Tanto and like it but it has horrible spring twang. What type of grease should I use on the spring .
Never mind a little lithium grease on the spring only took care of it.

Nothing fires as hard as a maxace. I own both this and a neptune, archer and Medusa
Not sure what the fuss is with D2, it has almost 12% chrome content which is high for a tool steel, it shouldn't rust easily

bought 2, did my own reviews on my own channel. Even gave props. to 2 guys who beat them up. I did part 1 and a Part 2. pretty much flushed down the YT toilet. because Im not a talking hands knife channel. Although I have have a sharpening service and a 100 knife videos. My subs dont give a shit.
I bought them because they remind me of my favorite which is the lightning elite. I like the lightnings handle style. being blocky and wide.
I did a more thorough review than most ever will. from sharpening to disassembly, the whole range. one of them, constantly misfired! the brand has no following other than them sending you a knife to review. which I call that BS! I bought mine I always do. the quality is just not there.

I've ordered lots and lots of knives, from bladeOps. their customer service is fantastic they've always been very good with all the ones I have returned, and have done credits for a different knife. for the under $100 buy I can tell you I was pretty unhappy, one of them worked and one of them didn't. I sent both back. and ended up finding a$60 OTF, that is absolutely flawless.

well I guess since I'm not chopping down trees and can sharpen a knife anytime I feel like. and I'm not willing to spend big-time bucks on any of these high-dollar OTFs. it still comes right down to it.
you can't beat a lightning or the lightning Elite for the price. I wanted so much to be happy with the SOS. but then again like so many it didn't work out. I've had all the OTS before. they all have their faults. and when paying three four or $500. it all comes around that a cheaper knives are the best value. but I didn't find the SOS one of them. I can get all of that high-dollar stuff out of my system when sharpening customers knives they went and spent all that big money but don't even know how to keep the blade Sharp. and I guess you could say that's really good for me.
