The beautiful, vibrant red colors and hook jaws on the males makes them one of the most intriguing looking fish to target. These fish go through a 3 to 5 year journey before they spawn and die. They are super fun to catch on a fly rod. We'll show you how catch these beauties in the west.

Beautiful Drone footage right off the bat AJ. I never knew Kokanee turned red during the spawn, for some reason I thought they were a hybrid and didn’t reproduce. Shows what I know about salmon. Love the classic AJ slow-mo release shots. Cool B- roll too.

Hey thank you for the compliments on the video buddy. Blue Mesa is so low right now it’s not worth the hike to get to the inlet. The dream stream needs another two weeks. This was north west. It’s nice fishing for salmon without the crowds. Over here it’s like shoulder to shoulder with unethical fishermen trying to snag the fish. Glad you can get them to hit and enjoy some peace and quiet.
It is really nice. Takes a long drive to get that but it’s worth it in my opinion with these Jobs Biden gas prices sometimes you’re like shit this is pricey

Hey AJ love your videos I’ve got a few questions how high up do you put the strike indicator? do you use any weights to get the eggs down?
Thanks Chad. Sorry about including a few of those points bud. The strike indicator you have to make the judgement based on how deep you’re fishing. Meaning, if it’s 4ft deep have your indicator at 6ft up on the line so that way you can still have a good drift. The split shots is dependent on the speed of the current. I put 1 BB size fly fishing split shot or one BB and another one just below that size.
It’s not letting me read the full message it stops at 6 ft up so that..?

It really is a good spot still needs a few weeks to a month.

No sir. That isn’t ready yet, I believe the kokes are just outside of the stream/river

@@lanebreeden I know that the Gunnison has them starting to run right now. I was there last weekend. Didn’t fish for them this time my video is 3 weeks old.

Snagging is a low-end crap way to catch fish. From observations, that crowd leaves trash, snags browns & and doesn't take showers. Spinning or fly, Catch em like a fisherman with skill.
