Porsche 997 GT2 RSR Bi-Turbo Track Weapon: Warm Up, Accelerations & Downshifts!

- After a few attempt to record properly this car in the previous years, I finally managed to make a pretty decent video with the help of my friend Italiansupercarvideo.
What you see here is a real track weapon that started its life as a real 997 GT3 RSR chassis (slightly modified in some joints) that it was able to clock a best lap of 1'46''357 during the second day of Kateyma GT testing at Monza Circuit. This 997 GT2 RSR has been built many years ago by Porsche's specialists RS Tuning and it features a full, yet modified Porsche 997 GT3 RSR Evo 2012 body kit. The differences are in the long front splitter, higher and bigger rear wing, those two air intakes placed on the top of the rear wheel arches and the central hole in the rear bumper.
The flat-6 engine, derived from a street legal 997 GT2, has been stroked from 3.6 up to 3.9-liter with a variable max power output from 680 hp to 830 hp, depending on turbo boost. Most of the engine's components are custom-made. The car weighs around 1,280 kg.
Watch and hear it in action around Monza with those lovely and explosive upshifts and downshifts. Stay tuned for the on board videos coming in the next days!

Nothing like the sound of a "Mezger Block" Porsche to brighten my day.
The word bi-turbo makes it even more cooler
How about bi-sexual?
>Mercedes had entered the chat
Twin turbos can be sequential or parallel, bi-turbos can only be parallel. Slight difference.

I can pretty confidently say that this is the best sounding 6 cylinder I've heard in a long time
porsche's flat-6 always sounds heavenly. especially the NAs. 👍
Man, all your vids are dope, even the “not the best” ones ! Sound is always awesome, same for the angles and point-of-views. Thanks so much! And what about this one, a 911 based Porsche with Martini suit is the best!
His sound quality is exceptional indeed. I can never get enough....
Those up and downshifts are brutal!
The 997 is the best modern 911 gen to date... best sound, best looks, best everything tbh... the 2rsr and 3rsr are both crazy cool cars
The 997.2 will go down as one of the best 911’s of all time. Future classic.
RSR for the 997 was only naturally aspirated. This car is the only turbocharged one. It was done to pay homage to the Carrera RSR Turbo 2.1 of the 70s.
@@LT64444 are you sure? I’m pretty positive they sent a few GT2 RSR’s to Le Mans in 2012-13
@@LT64444 id def love to see a dedicated 997 RSR video... I remember seeing and hearing them at Sebring as a kid...
@@danielecattabriga2168 First Ive heard of it. 997 platform paired with that amazing bodykit sure is a dream. Probably my favorite 911.
The sound is the mix of a GT3 and a Turbo! 😅 Lovely quality, as always! 😍😎
Track weapon indeed. Looks like the driver knows how to use it, too! There's something about the muted fury of a turbo 911 at full chat...
The sound tricks you, doesn’t match the speed but if you watch the surroundings it’s flying!
@@ACMEpowersports when compared to the sound of naturally aspirated Porsche, absolutely.
Thanks for the vids man ..! Your helping keep the sport of auto racing going in these troubling times ..! San Diego California saying hello and stay safe ..
I'm a huge fan of Porsche and their sound but even still I have to say this thing sounds sick! Still retains a good big of that flat 6 scream while also having all the fun turbo noises. Also that idle is wicked! And the shifts (8:08 is particularly great)...and literally everything...lol. Amazing as always Bozzy.
Man I love the Martini livery on that Porsche. Just love the overall looks. Wide body, fat tires. Engine sounds fantastic!
Sounds great, especially for a turbo. And those gear changes sounded 👌 as well!
Thanks Bozzy! Finally some more info on this beast :)
I had been wondering if this was the former Alzen Motorsport 911 that came after 'Turbinchen', due to the similar air intakes in the back. I guess this is the same RS Tuning that worked on the Alzen cars. Great to see and here these turbo Porsches!
What a music for my ears!!! I have goose bumps, very very very very nice video!!!
Martini livery looking amazing as always. You could put it on any car and it’d look great.
This thing rips. What a monster
What an animal! And those downshifts, like gunshots! Awesome!
My.......lord!!!! What a fabulous machine performance and sound wise!
A Symphony...🥰
Those shifts. Just incredible. I want to have those cracks and bangs between gears on my 997. Sign me up.
Hey Bozzy, you reckon you could make a video where you go to the track on a beautiful day like this with beautiful engines like this, with the best audio gear you possibly have, and just leave it recording down the straight from Ascari for a few hours?
I love those long shots where you can hear the car going off into the distance. Would be awesome to have a shot like that uninterrupted, with some brief moments of hearing nature in the background in between the glorious noise of those engines!
Amazing monster and great video as always👍👍
Do to COVID no racing at my home track(WATKINS GLEN ) I live close to it . Thanks for making my ears smile 👍 It sounded great
This year I did not go to Le Mans, I am still in shock 😔
Literally drooling over this thing.
Stunning = would expect nothing less from you!
I love Porsche more and more as I get older.
Was ein geiler Keiler!!
heavenly backfire .. even when shifting up
Reminds me of the alzen turbinchen 2.0. the 997 with awd.
I love your work !
wonderful sounds, great livery (with the stripes over the added air intakes - nice!). How did you go about wing tuning on that weekend? It's an amazing lap time.
Terrific car !!!
J’avoue!
Awesome 😎thanks Bozzy 🤗🤗
Martini Racing Porsche... The story continues with lots of power... ❗ 👍💯🏁🏎️🤓🇨🇵
Seriously quick car!
Damn that thing gets on with it!
I'm early! Awesome 997 racer :)
what a fucking nice sound!
Lo más eficiente en competición el flat-six de Porsche
Love that aero package!
That front splitter is impressive!
@@mijbau yes👍🏁!!
thanks for ad-free
Those crackles are insane
I love your channel
Carro top de mais FI!
The sounds of the shifts up or down sound orgazmic*
Perfection
If I could only get my Cayenne diesel to sound like that. Holy shit.....
Alright...this may be my favorite 997. Hope we can get an onboard view of this beast someday.
Yeah, onboard would be epic!
Speriamo ci facciano entrare al Monza historic 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Awesome!!!
why do the shifts sound so violent as if your tearing time and space apart with each shift
ke macchina fantastica!!!!!!!!
This sounds phenomenal. I think the sanctioning bodies need to bring GT2 back in some form.
GT2 is currently living as GTE. What they need is to bring some form of GT1 back
@@Random14599 With engines being relocated and waivers everywhere GTE is nothing like GT2 was sadly. Btw the late GT1 started it's life as GT2 when GT1 still allowed close to prototype cars.
this might be a dumb question but what is that bang sound when it downshifts ?
Bi for turbo, yes please.
Martini lively on silver body.....That reminds me old Carrera RSR turbo.
Where are the nox bottles storage for qualifying?
I want my turbo to sound just like that !
what is that starting sound. never heard that before
you just cant hate a turbocharged porsche
Other than the 718s, you are correct
Imagine this racing in the fia gt1 world championship back in 2010

This is the power level GT3/GTLM should be at. It’s absolutely embarrassing GT cars 40 years ago had more power than now, without electronic aids.
A current GTLM car would absolutely run circles around the older GT3 cars. Power isn't really that big of a deal anymore - fuel efficiency (endurance racing), aero, braking, transmission and cooling tech are all way more important these days. Anybody can make the power now and restrictors keep racing interesting
@@greatcolor power's not a big deal? Yikes. Power makes the cars more difficult to drive. One of the main issues with modern GT cars is that anyone can drive them relatively fast. They're not scary.
@@chipattack912 sure anyone can drive them somewhat fast on warm tires in ideal conditions, but on the limit in competition is an entirely different breed. You have to trust entirely alien sensations with aero, you have to brake significantly later than 40 years ago, you have to subject yourself to higher G forces and you're typically up against a much stricter rulebook and a more level playing field. I'd love to rip around in an old CSL and it would be an absolute blast, but motorsport is about competition and it's usually a lot closer of a competition these days due to these changes.
They could easily make more power if they wanted to, but the restrictors exist for a reason - the drivers and teams wanted it as much as the sanctioning bodies did. There's no perfect powerplant, it's a decision process between longevity, packaging, cooling, fuel efficiency, and expense. The last point being the most important and the biggest hurdle to a relatively level field. Beyond that, I like seeing my favorite drivers live to old age and not dying in an inferno or having their spine snapped because people aren't satisfied with GT cars that accelerate as fast as ever and top out below 200mph.
Cheers

Why is the sound so raspy ? Special exhaust, cams, engine, turbos or something else ?
From my basic understanding of engines, the pitch and tone are generated by the architecture, i.e. number of cylinders and configuration (Inline, V, W) and angle between the engine banks of the engine; the other effects like raspiness, "octaves" or pops, are generated by the exhaust. Turbo usually lowers the overall volume of the engine exhaust and adds pops and bangs.
Sounds a lot like every other turbo flat 6 I've ever heard.
@@AndrewLewer90 you're about right but worth clarifying that the turbo doesn't add the pops/bangs, that's the tune igniting the fuel late to keep the turbo spinning between shifts etc
@@apancher it's just angrier, that's what I'm wondering about
@@benjaminmcintosh857 yeah, thanks for correcting me on that.
No one will ever be trackside and sporting a semi-chubb listening to a Tesla. This 997, on the other hand...
My thoughts exactly! Motorsports is all about the sound! Sorry but electric just doesn't inspire wood!👍
Schmirler Brüder💪💪💪💪👌🏁🏁
Is it used only for trackdays?
How could there be a thumbs down?

A couple of years ago there was a similar car racing at Hockenheim - czcams.com/video/qQVdy0WIp1o/video.html - maybe these cars are related to each other?
Wow, it looks like so much each other!
Yes, thats the same car.
Does that mean the turbo likes men and women?

its not the same then the old porsche rsr turbo 2.1 😩😩😩
The bangs during gearshifts to some people they may sound cool, but to me it sounds like crap. A pity on such a nice car.
