Judging from the AA comparison images in the video and the meta data of the recorded files, Ultra not only has visible problems with frame rate, but also with color performance. The HDMI OUT of modern cameras is the rec.709 standard by default, but the video recorded by yololiv ultra is in the rec.601 color space. At the same time, from the video, the skin color of the person is reddish, which is usually due to inconsistent color coding and decoding of HDMI signals .The signal is REC.709, while yololiv uses rec.601 to decode data and uses 601 to record video. It can be seen that there should still be problems with the current color processing pipeline of yololiv.@YoloLivTech

@@GeekyNerdyTechy Hey Shane, nice review with good info and nicely to the point. Just wondering if you heard anything back yet from YoloLiv about the frame rate question you raised? I'm looking at various mobile hardware encoder solutions at the moment trying to decide which one to go for and found your review very timely. Many people have been pointing me towards the LiveU Solo but your review of this unit has made me think a little harder. Have you set it up to mobile live stream using RTMP or SRT? Just wondering how easy that is to do or how it went. Would be a wonderful video to make. Thanks in advance for any further info you can help with. Now that I've found you I've given a sub to start with :)

It’s a bit of a shame that the recordings are not quite fully 25fps for PAL, I’ve found this a number of times with the YoloBox Pro and also the limitation of the HDMI out being hard coded to 30fps.
But I get the feeling with the Ultra that loads more is possible with the new chip and there are certainly some very impressive features that you’ve showcased.

Excellent info, but no one has made a video about how to use the Yolobox Ultra and Rhodecaster 2.
Can you record more than one 4k source at 25fps?
I want to use it for multiple 4k sources podcast, recording only no live stream.

Hi. I didnt find info that you can connect external LCD and use IT as bigger touchscreen 😉 its a very good feature
You can’t to my knowledge, but you can view the output on a larger screen like I showed in this video.

I got them from a shop in Australia called Bunnings. They are the $55 option if you check their website.
Wow, that unit is very impressive. Just wondering what it's made out of? With all those inputs populated, it seems that it would get really hot. I think a all metal case would serve as a heat sink. BTW...I think the extra 25.65 fps is how they chose to get around video delay and provide better live audio sync.
It's like a well-ventilated tablet with a hard plastic shell at the back. There are active cooling fans and ventilation sections on it as well. It got warm, but that was it. Thanks for the info :)

Hello, I'm having major overheating issues with this device. Is this a defective unit or a known issue? I have Insta360 Webcam and DJI pocket three plus sony ZV-e10. The Yolobox seems a great solution for the set-up vs ATEM, which doesnt support USBC and USB ins. Do you have any recommendations?
I've used mine for several live streams now for over an hour without any overheating issues. Is the fan on? Can you feel or hear it in the back? If you're using it in direct sunlight it might cause you some issues perhaps? In the studio, even without air con, it's been fine. I can't remember if there's any fan settings in the unit, but have a look you might be able to change the settings.
This DEFINITELY caught my attention Shane, it seems outrageously amazing! You came out of nowhere with this one!!! I'm really excited about this. EcammLive is $400 a year, in 10 years it will have cost $4000!!! Plus you need a high end computer and dongles or similar. This unit is so cool! Big thumbs up, great video 👍👍👍👍
Question 1, at 24p mode would that 25p frame rate glitch be gone?
Question 2, do you know by any chance if can you record or livestream a one-and-done version AND an ISO version at the same time?

I agree. I have the same Question 2. I’m starting to see a new trend with cameras like the Sony FX30 and Sony A7CII where you can solely use the USB-C to stream and power in 4K30fps. If you use multiple cameras you won’t need a switcher but might still need a recorder.

I haven't tried 24p, but it's definitely worth testing. I am going to live stream today at 30p (everything in matching frame rates) so we'll see how it goes. in 4K, you can only record a single view or the program. 1080p allows you to record the master and the individual inputs. :)

Thank you for introducing a product that I am very interested in. My question is, is it possible to pop up comments for Super Chat, Super Stickers, etc.? I don't think it was possible with the previous Pro model, but is it possible to connect Rode caster Pro II to this model? Please let me know, thank you for your time.
Yes, you can. It works with comments on screen etc. It won't do it automatically, but you can tap on screen to showcase comments. Just know, you have to set its position before streaming, otherwise it pops up over the top center area of screen.

Nice review Shane. Maybe I've missed it in the specs somewhere, but is the USB input port USB 3.1 / 3.2? I have a camera that requires min USB 3.1 port to use it.

Interesting, I need to check that. Some cameras allow you to use them sideways at the meta data will flip the image I haven't tested it thanks for the info.

Question: (Thank you for the review) I have access to an ATEM mini (original not the pro) that I use with OBS, I've been getting pro jobs for streaming conferences and seminars with virtual guests and on set guests, I need to upgrade my gear but the budget is tight since I am also upgrading cameras (I will be getting Panasonic Lumix S5 ii since I already work with panasonic cameras and also do video and photography work) I'm interested in a setup that can handle "supersource" or equivalent, and graphics, I have been thinking of getting the Yolobox Ultra since it offers a lot of features even 4K streaming for almost the same price as an Atem Minie Extreme ISO and it is ery portable and fast to setup, but I've seen very unfavorable comments on Yolobox's (Pro) reliability for streaming in professional settings, I don't mind audio issues with internal mixer since I mix audio externally with digital audio mixer, I'm interested in your (anyone) opinion about getting this Yolobox Ultra for this type of work or what would you get knowing the budget to be tight, or would you get something like the RGBLink Mini Edge or any other video switcher.
While it’s worked pretty well it has glitched a few times but other times it’s works great. It’s always improving with updates but I’ve found these always less reliable than an ATEM Mini. When I posted the review it worked almost flawlessly but after multiple live streams it did drop a few times. There’s been more updates since my last test so it could have been addressed, but it’s not as reliable generally as the ATEM stuff.
By operating the device. Can you do this at 60 frames per second, full HD? Also, how long can the device last without any problems or interruptions? How capable is the device of connecting to the Internet?
Yes, I covered all the frame rates. I streamed for well over an hour with it the other day with no issues, it was all done over wifi.
Does this have the option to replay in sports .. from multiple cameras?
Currently it's replay for one HDMI, the multicam replay is coming soon in 1.5 weeks to the Ultra.
When I use my yolobox ultra vertical mode to do IG live & invite a guest to do live ... I found that I can't see the split screen (so cant see my guest view) on my device ? ANY other people have the same problem?
Yes same issue also Yolobox Ultra does not see Video Sources, MultiViews Overlays with lock, so you have to rebuild vertical video streaming and recording EVERY Time!
Questions: are the only camera inputs in can take HDMI? So you'd have to run cables from everywhere even if far away? That's very limiting...unless it is able to take other input sources, like NDI HX, or can connect through same wifi or mobile hotspot wirelessly?
I cover kids ice hockey games and have camera at either end of the rink...there's no way I can run 100ft of HDMI cables everytime....I use Logitech's Mevos and they all connect!wireless through my hotspot. But I can't use any other cameras.
This box would allow me to use actual video cameras but I need wireless capability....is that possible with these?
You could use a wireless HDMI signal transmitter from your cameras to a receiver plugged into this unit. I tested the original yolobox like that and it worked

These boxes don't have any other input options other than HDMI? That really makes them kind of useless being so limiting in inputs...
Eh. Thanks. But did I hear you say that if you want to record all the inputs (ISO) (and how about program) you CAN'T do that in 4K?
4K is a single view or program output whereas the ISO is 1080p and will record everything. My guess is that it's basically a data rate thing.

I don't own any PT cameras, sorry. That should be listed in the PDF user manual.
Currently it is one NDI input source. We'll soon add another 2 NDI input source to make it a total of 3 NDI inputs. Probably in Mid January.

Currently watching the video, but wanna ask ahead of time. I use blackmagic cameras. Can you color grade them like you can with the Atem?
I don’t think there’s any in switcher colour adjustment tools from memory.

We have many issues with my Yolobox Ultra. Starting with the very basic, like sliders don't slide on any touch, moving on to cropped sound on recorded files, choppy video, limits when using 4 cameras, etc.
Make sure you have the latest firmware with these things. They are constantly updating bugs I didn't experience/find at the time of the review. Hard power it off and on if the screen is not working like expected. Mines been pretty solid for simple live streaming but I haven't use it with pre-recorded files.
An updates on these issues being addressed?
So would this basically take the streaming load off a gaming computer?
Yes, it's an all in one device for that purpose.

how do you stream a gaming game play screen together with the dslr camera? just like any Twitch Gamers will do.
plug your console into one of the HDMI ports and the camera into the other. You can then create an overlay of the camera onto the gaming footage and then mix the audio between both shots.

I believe this new version has just dropped all Yolobox Pro sales. Why buy pro now?
The Pro will be less expensive no doubt now, but yeah the encoder on this is better and the 4K quality is great.
HDMI’s are 2.0 or 2.1?
I’m not sure but they support 4K. I’m sure the advanced specs in the manual would cover that stuff.

Wow ... this looks impressive. I misheard the price as $400 ;D, it's more like $1500 :D.
Does it have a fan? If not this is much better than my noisy Atem Mini Pro + Ninja V. Both got fans like hair dryers :D.
And USB input from webcam is huge. If this means I can connect Pocket3 as 5th source this saves me ~$300 on the usb to HDMI converter.
It's not as loud as the ATEM Mini Pro (I have an ATEM as well), but there is some noise but nothing distracting in a regular temperature room. It may ramp up if you're outside on a hot day.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Thx. You mention at the end it got active cooling, but I haven't heard any fan noise during the video. So either is silent or you got good noise removal skills :D.
