      Joey Dymarcik Yea but who calls it sports entertainment? Really? 95% of the world views WWE as wrestling. It will always be wrestling as long as there are wrestlers in a wrestling ring wearing wrestling gear. I have never heard anyone call WWE sports entertainment ever and it's sad that WWE hates what they are and always have been.

      I took it as a bit of a tongue-in-cheek title since the WWE refuses to acknowledge itself as a wrestling product, and is the only promotion that does that. But also it's pointing out how modern wrestling as a whole is ruining the WWE. Trends and ideologies that encompass the entirety of wrestling are lending a hand in diminishing the WWE product. The direction of wrestling as a whole is having a negative impact on the WWE. So in that sense, wrestling is ruining the WWE.

    Injuries isn't kidding. Meltzer has stated that WWE actually has notably the highest injury rate of a major promotion. For all of the excesses of Strong Style, WWE's style has in many ways become more dangerous, and with less breaks. NJPW at least has giant multi-man tag matches where the stars get to take a break and slowly tease upcoming matches with other stars, not 15+ minute matches 4+ times a week.

    • @raveoreynolds6049
      @raveoreynolds6049 Před 6 lety +4

      WWE is also notably the most successful promotion, for that reason. And if I were Vince, I would do the same thing. Because you know if one person can't take the schedule or gets injured, there will be a 100 other wrestlers willing to take their place. It may be unethical, but it is good business.

    • @iamyoursaviour
      @iamyoursaviour Před 6 lety +4

      I don't think having the stars wrestle long matches on house shows is the reason WWE is successful. Sure it's nice, but 1 a night might be swell- a lot of people just want to enjoy seeing their stars, the trademark spots, and my word the joy of squash matches. Plus the kinds of comedy they do for house shows. A night of light entertainment might be be suited to both pleasing the audience and not hurting their stars.

    • @justjoe811
      @justjoe811 Před 6 lety

      Agreed, it's all about pacing. A story needs to have high points and lulls in the action. I get some of why the WWE does it, people spend good money to come see a show live and so they want to give a great show.
      But, unlike a circus or Cirque de Sole or even most stand up comics, who generally get that audience once and only one occasion. The fans that see a live show will then be seeing these same performers on TV every week, often multiple times a week.
      Squash matches are a good way to build new stars without hurting other stars. Not all matches need to be specifically tied into a current feud. In general I feel there's some overexposure occurring with all of these guys.

    Happy to see you guys recognizing the 'injury' problem too! It's my main gripe too: sometimes you get the feeling that people think "more extreme = better" but it doesn't have to be. Take an all time classic: Savage vs. Steamboat (WM III). It had some fancy moves but nothing "over the top". It was wrestling at its best. These days its more jumping and splashing and god knows what. Entertaining for sure, but a real toe to toe wrestling match is also worth something.

      StopDMingMe Well that's just not true at all, for their sizes, Strowman and Big shows matches were great. Just because they don't have really stiff strikes and hard landings, doesn't mean they're shit

    • @pdragon619
      @pdragon619 Před 6 lety +6

      LIEM I think you're missing the point, he said himself that the Big Show/Strowman matches were amazing. However they're not as memorable as Okada/Omega because WWE doesn't treat them as something memorable. They're all throw away matches on Raw that they immediately stop talking about 2 weeks after the fact. They don't give any gravity or significance to the matches outside of the in the moment display of how strong Strowman is. Where as NJPW props Okada and Omega's matches on a pedestal and treat them like a huge deal, thus the fans still treat them like a huge deal even months after the fact. That has nothing to do with styles, workrate, or how the fans themselves react, that's purely how the companies themselves book and write the show.

    The fans a ruining wrestling. We demand so much from WWE and the wrestlers, that they are destroying their bodies just make sure you're not playing with a beach ball, COME ON! The worst part about it is that we just keep demanding for something bigger. If this keeps up, guys like AJ Styles, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Samoa Joe, etc will not be able to function their bodies properly when they get old.

    • @GraveysBrewery
      @GraveysBrewery Před 6 lety +46

      My thoughts exactly
      The best example of this being "cut the pg crap and bring back hardcore wrestling!" , or sentiments along those lines.
      Knowing what we now know about conditions such as concussions and seeing guys like Mick Foley and Taker having to have body parts replaced, that should surely should send a message to people that at the end of the day, wrestlers are regular people with families just like the rest of us, and there could come a day where when the stars of today are in their golden years, they may not have the physical attributes they have today and find their bodies in weakened states thanks to the OTT stuff they did in the ring.

    • @t.v.rockwell4504
      @t.v.rockwell4504 Před 6 lety +28

      I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. Good. I understand that why we want more, but I also understand that this isn't a cartoon, movie, or a video game. This is real people performing for our entertainment in a potentially dangerous work environment. At the end of the day, we should be less demanding. Yes, some of the stuff we see may be vanilla, but you what was nuts like a decade ago. A suicide dive. It use to be hardcore to do that, now it's the sign to cut to break. How did that happen?

    • @stuartpenzer773
      @stuartpenzer773 Před 6 lety +14

      TVR24 I kind of agree with you but I'd add that wwe isn't the only promotion out there as silly as it sound wrestling has never been there strong suit good story telling and ring psych is what made them, if fans want the indie style guys diving all over killing themselves to sell a match (all the respect in the world to anyone who does that for our entertainment) go watch an indie promotion where wrestlers don't have to work every week plus house shows plus ppvs

    • @t.v.rockwell4504
      @t.v.rockwell4504 Před 6 lety +11

      Exactly. WWE is NOT the only wrestling promotion out there. There are plenty out there with different styles. In America on we ROH, Lucha Underground, GFW, and NJPW sounds like it's breaking in. WWE doesn't need to be everything us fans ask for. I know it can do better, but that's the cost of having two tv shows weekly, sometimes quality drops. And when quality drops, you tend to do drastic things, like more extreme matches, risky stories, or something that could be really good, or really bad. But re-iterate, the WWE is not the only wrestling show out there. I mean, there are youtube channels for many promotions, like WPCW, GFW, ICW, and more. It is not like you have nothing else to watch.

    • @yourfriendlyneighborhoodsm4708

      TVR24 I agree. That's why when people come out saying Fin Balor or Sami Zayn are boring I say, they can go all out like they did on the indies every Monday night or else they'll kill them selves and get stale. I for one say wrestling in WWE is fine where it is. Leave all the big stuff for PPVs and special shows. That's it

  • @doopydoody4809

    In ring action has intensified? No... It's sped up... Back in the day, lets say Jeff hardy would do poetry in motion over the top rope, off of mats back.. The announcers would go crazy, and Jeff would actually throw himself.. So instead of a "oh dean ambrose, gonna do something amazing, nope it was just a vault over the rope" it was "oh Jeff hardy gonna do something amazing, oh wow look how high he is! He's gonna land on his head.." I mean in his most recent match he did this and that one spot was ten times more interesting than Seth Rollins whole move set.. Cause he puts more effort in... One move, rather than putting some effort in loads of moves, cause when u put some effort into supposedly amazing moves, those amazing moves arnt so amazing... Also wrestlers these days arnt good at selling.. Just strait up.. They don't hit the mat as hard.. Just overall impact is lacking... This is because, they have sped up... In stead of a " kick, OH HES KNOCKED OUT COLD!" It's "kick, no impact... That just lightly tapped him.. He's walking... He's walking... He's in position for a slam.. Oh... Right ok..." What I'm saying is wrestlers these days are essentially nerfing moves because they arnt putting effort into them... Having a slower.. Match with less spots.. But those spots are actually interesting enough to be spots... Is more interesting, than "vault... Oh no. He put his arm over me, time to completely undersell this and stumble backwards, then he lands on his feet. Climbs up to top rope.. Cross body? Drop kick, OHHHHH rob can dam spin kick, with that really cool sell after it.. Oh.. Oh no.. He just jumped up and landed on his feet.. How would that hurt anyone? Dunno. Was it interesting? Nope cause I could probably do it-" do u see my point...

      MrMisanthrope84 Kicks clearly make no impact... Even the little things like whacking the head off the post is just swiped aside... Power slams are mostly under selled... That's why their are so many high flyers... Cause they don't hit the mat as hard... Even in the latest raw match, a guy got closltheslined... He just landed on his elbows, and his ass.... Didn't even bounce of the Mat and instantly got up again like nothing happened... There saying, "oh it's sped up" but u can't expect a crowd to go "OW" at someone obviously missing a punch... It's just not happening.. Sorry I edited it.. I thought u said "I don't know what u mean"

  • @KingKaiju58

    The reason WWE wrestlers are getting hurt more IS the extreme work schedules. Wrestlers who never hurt themselves in the indies like Fin & Neville, are injured because if you don't get the proper rest as some Indie guys. Even the Young Bucks who are all over the planet, do a crazy amount of shows, & make just as much if not more than most WWE guys have more time off.
    They regularly take breaks to rest up and heal so they can keep their high paced, high impact style in all their matches. And like them WWE wrestlers have to do photo shoots, meet & greets, make-a-wish, etc.
    With the amount of fatigue & lack of sleep can = one mistake on a move that someone like Fin or Asuka do all the time. If WWE went back to a good rotation of talent on each show, more days off for high profile wrestlers, and a less strenuous travel schedule. There would be less injuries, more stars to use, and more potential revenue. But I'm speaking to a wall here.

      King Godzilla I agree. WWE don't need to put the same wrestlers every week on Raw and Smackdown. That's why the product is getting stale. Look at NXT for example. We don't see same wrestlers all time on NXT...smh

    • @kaind.badguy
      @kaind.badguy Před 6 lety +2

      Wrestlers aren't getting hurt more often, it's just that their injuries are taken seriously these days. A hand full of "medicine" and some athletic tape was all they needed 20 or 30 years ago. Those guys lost their spot on the card easier if they didn't keep working. No one took concussions seriously in the 80's and 90's. "Be a man and walk it off"! Now we see the long term affects of pretending to be invincible. Many of the old wrestlers are crippled and the lawsuits are coming from everywhere. WWE has to keep track of everything, just in case these guys today want to file a lawsuit in the future.

    • @KingKaiju58
      @KingKaiju58 Před 6 lety +2

      Kain d. Badguy I totally agree, but my argument still holds water.
      There's always going to be freak accidents but giving your roster more opportunities to rest before it gets to "well you blew out your knee take 6 months off" then Wrestlers would be more sharp and rested to pull 5 star matches.

    • @kaind.badguy
      @kaind.badguy Před 6 lety +2

      King Godzilla Oh I agree, they absolutely need to take time off to heal. I was just bringing the past attitudes towards injuries to light. When I got hurt as a kid, people would mock me for complaining about headaches and dizzy spells. I sprained and dislocated fingers, a shoulder, both knees, bruised ribs and some other stuff I've forgotten. Today those injuries are taken far more seriously because everyone wants to win a lawsuit.

    They're wasting some of the best guys on their roster, Sami Zayne, Dillinger, Wyatt, Bàlor, Miz. I just don't get it, I don't get how they're this blind or just don't care. The best thing WWE has produced this year is the Mae Young classic and they aren't even WWE wrestlers.

    You talking about swerving the fans? Why don't you go back to the Royal Rumble where WWE swerved us by putting Roman Reigns in the number thirty entrant when he already had a Universal Championship match on the same night. Not only did it ruin what would've been a surprise entrant of either Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, or even Kurt Angle, but it also selflessly promote Undertaker's retirement match at WrestleMania BY HAVING ROMAN ELIMINATE TAKER AT THE RUMBLE MATCH MAKING HIM THE FINAL OPPONENT!!! Seriously, what were they thinking? I know they are trying to make him the top new face of the company for three years, but we all know that it had never work and we still don't believe it.
    #WherearetheGoodCartoons?

    • @kizwiz6
      @kizwiz6 Před 6 lety +7

      luisanitrans You realize that was an intentional swerve to rile up the crowd at the prospect of Reigns winning only to put over Orton. Imagine the negative/lacklustre reaction to Orton winning had Reigns not been involved. It worked beautifully too. Also, Finn was still injured, Samoa Joe had a better impact in his debut than getting eliminated/forced push in Rumble, and Kurt Angle hadn't passed his physical tests to perform.
      Reigns' push has worked. Are you seriously that blinded by hate that you don't see what's going on? No wonder you're so frustrated to see him constantly being pushed as you don't get why. People tune in to see others lose. Reigns, by being a tweener, can play a heel without following its typical conventions. He's over. He sells more merch than any full-timer. Fact. Brock Lesnar was also the most hated MMA fighter in UFC but DOMINATED PPV buy outs. Triple H has backed hia reasons for supporting Reigns a million times now.

    • @thagrammarnazi
      @thagrammarnazi Před 6 lety +1

      Kieran Emery Exactly, they had to make Reigns number 30 (instead of just choosing someone fans were hoping for) to make it more palatable for Orton to win (rather than just choosing someone the fans were hoping to see win). Genius, this is why the product is as enjoyable as ever.

    • @kizwiz6
      @kizwiz6 Před 6 lety +1

      thagrammarnazi Orton was slipping into obscurity and deserved something after taking a big bump in his match against Lesnar.
      But yes, sometimes you need sly tactics to help push someone. Orton needed that.

    • @pdragon619
      @pdragon619 Před 6 lety +1

      And then he went on to have the worst match at Wrestlemania, and had a boring title reign that ended almost immediately when he jobbed out to Jinder Mahal....so yeah, all that maneuvering to push Orton and make him more accepted as the Rumble winner REALLY paid off in the end. It's stuff like that why the fans don't "give storylines a chance", it's not because they're impatient or picky, it's because they know that WWE often drops the ball and can't actually deliver on any of these storylines. And honestly they rarely do anything to prove that cynicism wrong. How are you going to blame the fans for expecting something to be terrible when they're right like 8 times out of 10?

    • @kizwiz6
      @kizwiz6 Před 6 lety +3

      pdragon619 I agree. However, the alternatives suggested weren't any better as I've pointed out why:

      Samoa Joe, possible but a huge WM spot on a "new" (in WWE) is forced. Especially for a guy best known for his tenure in a rival company.
      Kurt is OLD and hadln't passed a physical test.
      I'm just pointing out that Orton was chosen and using Reigns as a last minute pawn in the Rumble was the best way to temporarily get that fix. Orton's sadly been pretty stale for a few years now and he's not getting any younger so a push isn't all out of the question. Especially for the fact he's pretty well renown. The general public of people know what an RKO is more than they know Balor or Samoa Joe. Wrestlemania needs big name hype. Orton is frankly an okay choice. It's better than making him MORE obscure, no?

      +Pull up then WWE has no plans for it yet
      nakamura and aj's interactions are purely AJ pushing this match to the writers
      you would guess if it happened, it'd be for the wwe title, but plans are for jinder to hold it till mania and then loose it to cena
      AJ has been pushed down to the midcard
      i wouldn't be surprised if they had another "superstar shake up" and moved one of them to raw without ever even ackowledging the dream match
      even if it did happen, it'd be on a random smackdown or B level ppv with a crappy finish 7 minutes into the match

    More than anything, the injury issue speaks to the lack of credible depth on the main roster. Because everything on TV every week has to be an angle, there is no time to build a group of waiting in the wings undercard guys to step up when someone gets hurt. There should be more matches that are just designed to be straight up wins without an angle for guys that they are grooming for later pushes. By having a handful of people just rack up some wins every other week, when you do insert them in a program, they have a credibility already because people have seen them win a whole bunch in the last few months. Sadly, WWE never does this, so when someone new gets put into an important angle, nobody takes them seriously because, why should they? When injuries happen, it destroys the top of the card because there are few believable replacements. If Strowman got hurt tomorrow, who would replace him at No Mercy? There would be riots if Reigns or Cena did, and yet with Joe also hurt, they are the only credible challengers for the Universal Title right now. They have effectively killed Balor and Wyatt with bad booking (Finn is a guy who should not have been in angles the last few months, he should have simply been beating people, so he could return to the title scene as a legit contender. Instead they made him a midcarder.), and the only person who they are building correctly is Elias. Sadly, they gave him a gimmick that puts a low ceiling on his potential. Ugh, WWE is bad.

I'd like to say DIFFERENT people, also wwe has currently the most talented roster in their history, but they only focus on the same guys and girls

I mean look at Goldust, he barely wrestles at all, 90% of his current stuff in WWE is promos and vignettes, and his storyline is a complete mess where all he does is talk about things and never does them. Hell he made a big deal of debutting his "masterpiece" at Summerslam and then didn't even show up on the show. How the hell do you blame "modern wrestling" for that? His fathers legacy? Do you mean some small karneval show matches with no man watching and nearly unhuman carny, freak-showesque working conditions? Yu are totally right. This isn´t anymore.

    Roman Reigns acting like a corporate John Cena bootleg is ruing WWE. Not Jinder Mahal who looks like a real champ and delivers the part.

    • @Chacaron520
      @Chacaron520 Před 6 lety

      TonyPain*_* Jinder Mahal's chicken shit tactics on Pay Per View venues month after month does not make a good champion. Maybe if they switched up the finish where it doesn't involve the Singh brothers (yes, this includes the Great Khali cause his real last name is Singh), maybe people who appreciate his matches.

      @tonypain_7094 Před 6 lety +1

      bruh.. you aint seen nothing and its too early for you to complain. Yes he's ppv matches so far lately is not that impressive but Vince knows the guy has potential. Jinder is not even on his prime yet but he improves every week. WWE is planning to break Punks reign as champ and there is no other candidate than Jinder. Mark my words.

    • @Chacaron520
      @Chacaron520 Před 6 lety +3

      TonyPain*_* Bra! They pushed him too early. Give him time to build heat and then give him the run with the belt. He got the push fast because he was roided out and Vince has a chubby for ripped men. That and WWE's relationship with India. Maybe over time he can be great. As of now, nope.

    I agree with most of these except the social media one. I'm perfectly capable of suspending my disbelief and enjoy seeing my favorite wrestlers just being themselves. Expecting people to be in kayfabe 24/7 or denying wrestlers the ability to use social media out of character would just be silly.

    Why does simon do pretty much 90% of videos now. I know today was adam but still imm getting quite sick of simon now and most videos I click and its him I click away because he is too boring.

      MyDadIsBald,I think it's because Blampied, Pacitti, and Jack are busy with WCPW weekly programming being back. Simon probably doesn't have as big of a role in that so he's the one who has to keep making the content

    My personal issue with we is that I don't live on the west coast where Raw comes on at 5PM and I feel like if I've wasted my time on it I can still go enjoy the night. Smh theres not much of a reward system for so many of their top Superstars nor are they cutting actual in ring promos to help further feuds.

  • @GoldenfoxxPrime

    Personal opinion here, but 205's problem with empty arena seats has nothing to do with a lack of taste from or intimacy with fans, and everything to do with them filming it, at least when they came to my town last July, immediately after a 2-hour Smackdown, and before a dark match main event involving Cena about which no one cared. And in our case especially, it wasn't a particularly good Smackdown, either. People thought the show was over and left after Smackdown. And in their defense, it SHOULD have been over after Smackdown was finished.

    As someone who watched in the late 90's and then on and off again until now I agree with the last point. PPV matches used to have great build ups like a big boxing fight. Now they are a lot of the same matches we see week in and week out on Raw or Smackdown. They just don't feel as special anymore. I remember waiting for weeks, sometimes months wondering how a big match would go. Now with so much 50/50 booking your just hoping to get a cool swerve at the end.

    You missed a point regarding NXT, and it's the most important one; Single venue. Because it's not touring, stars have more time to maintain themselves and recover after matches. This might just be connected to NXT putting on objectively better matches than the main brand on a weekly basis.
