- Hey Everyone! Thank you for being here today.
Today’s piece is inspired by: an idea of using the same colour but using two techniques to experiment and demonstrate what designs can be created using the same palette. This is Part 1 - The Dutch Pour.
Technique used: Dutch Pour
What I learnt: Mont Marte as a base really crates pearls and cells even without a cell activator.
Colour palette:
Pebeo: iridescent precious gold
Mont Marte: titanic white (for the base)
Winsor & Newton: Winsor Blue
Daler Rowney: Titanium white and Phthalo Green
Time Stamps: If you want to go to a specific section of the video, here are the main segments:
01:00 A look at the colors
01:32 A look at the canvas and my thinking
01:50 Layering the base coat and my tips about the base coat
04:20 Layering the color
05:50 Blow out
08:40 Wet look
09:30 Changed my mind! Blow out again
10:40 Wet look
11:50 All dry!
Hair/Blow Dryer: I currently use the Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting unless I specify otherwise.

Looks so much better with it blown out more. Turned out stunning! And those colors...wow!!! Beautiful! Glad you kept blowing it out!
Thanks so much!!
Almost like the pearls just burst out of it, it's soft and pleasant to the eyes.
Thank you 😊
Like the final blow out, it’s fuller, more colorful. Absolutely gorgeous!
Blues greens and gold r such fab colour combo. V beautiful with the Pearl cells
Thank you 😊
Very pretty. It was the right call to blow it out further as it really let the colors shine through.
Thank you so much Anna, so pleased you agree 😊🙏
Glad you did the additional blowout, it looks awesome! Thanks, Mark!
Thank you 😊
Wow It looks much better when it’s dry more pearl effects and lacing. 👍🖤
Thank you 😊
Wow! Gorgeous pearls and lancing. Thanks for the tip Mark, I shall be adding that white to my stash 😍😍
Thank you so much! 😊

Thank you so much Consuelo!! Really appreciate you watching and providing me with feedback 😊🙏😊
Those pearls really took over, it's cool!
Thank you Natalie 😊😊😊
Love the beautiful colors and all the lacing and cells ❤❤❤
Thank you 😊
Also...Ive heard few artists reiterate how important it is to use different brands together (if you want cell type reaction). So you are totally correct why you get those type cells. I used to use just one or 2 brands I favored...then about 7 months ago switched to mingling different brands and WOW...no longer have to worry about a thing!
Absolutely 👍🏻 Thank you 😊
I am happy that you blew it out more. Beautiful
Thank you 😊
Absolutely beautiful! Glad that you blew it out more.

Thank you xx
Gorgeous Dutch pour Mark❤️
Thank you so much Deidre 👏🏻🙏👏🏻
Mark,
I was so glad 😃 when you made the decision to blow it out a little more to get that blue to come up through the other colors/the white base!! IT IS GORGEOUS!!! ❇Well done, bravo, another masterpiece!!! I love watching you evolve!! And, kudos for taking your time...this makes you an excellent teacher! I think when many are trying this new technique/style of painting, like myself when I started this two years ago, we get so excited and anxious 🤔🤨😝 to see what we have created - wondering if what we have mixed is actually going to result into something beautiful - we get rushed and do not take our time 😤😩.... I really enjoy watching your videos, and you inspire me to do more of my own. (it's been a while since I have created any pours). I got a little burned out❤🔥 and it seemed like everyday I was making more of a mess at home in my office (which, incidentally, has turned into a PAINT CLOSET over the past year and a half), and I was becoming impatient with the artists' and their videos I (Still) follow on CZcams. That is not to say that I have lost interest in the hobby, but I was losing the spark, the passion of it all. You have ignited it once again ♨🌡🕯and I thank you from the bottom of my heart! 💖 Gratitude from NW Ohio! 👍🙏 keep making your incredible videos and sharing your talent with the world!!
Wow Megan!!! Your words are so kind and it makes me so happy I have helped a little to reignite that spark and passion in pour painting for you. Thank you so so much for taking the time to write and provide me with feedback and to also let me know a little about yourself. When I make my videos I always think, right… what would I want to know the most from this one and what can help the person also trying to master this technique. So thank you again so much. Big hello to USA - I love your country 😊💙🙏
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt 😍🥰
Beautiful!!

It is beautiful Mark !
I’m glad you blew it out more, it added a lot to the piece🤩
Thank you Rebecca, I’m so pleased I did too 😊
Wow - loving those colours. Looking forward to seeing the swipe. Thank you for sharing. I agree with the previous message on here - you are a joy to watch. Oh and I did check out your mixing vid (and several others of yours), thank you!
Ahh Dianne that’s so kind of you to say, thank you so much 😊
Love it
Thank you 😊
Beautiful work Mark. I love the cells you got. Its so pretty 🤩😍💙💙
Thank you so much Amy 💜💜
Very pretty 😍😍
Thank you 🙏
I love this colour palette Mark and can’t wait to see the next method! I am so glad you decided to blow it out further because the end result is gorgeous… so soft and calming. I’d love to try a pour using these colours, even if they will be in cheaper brand paints!! ♥️♥️
Thank you so much- have so much fun experimenting 💜💜💜
OMG, this is absolutely stunning!!! All that melting ice around a rocky canyon with running water. I love it, Mark. It's one of my favourite ones 🖒💖💖💖
Melting ice rock canyon I love your interpretation!!! Thank you so much Michaela 💙💙💙
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt thank YOU, Mark
Fabulous!
When I was scrolling through @Rinske Douna's videos yesterday, re-watching some of her old ones, I came across her New Year's video. You really are screaming your inner artistic voice and it's lovely to see on camera.
Thank you so much! Oh yea I really enjoyed the collaboration and Rinske did such a personal piece for me. I love it 😍
Yep a better version and it looks like n inlet on coral reef somewhere.
A joy to look at!
Btw This is what i was trying to do with my first disaster pour.
I used same colors different Brand
I’m new to acrylic pouring and stumbled upon one of your videos. I’ve now watched quite a few and find the info you give to be very helpful. I’ve poured over ornaments and painted jewelry, but have yet to venture towards doing a canvas. I’m afraid I know nothing about color combinations except what I’ve seen on the different videos I’ve watched.
Welcome!! New to acrylic pouring? Welcome to a very addictive craft… haha. Thanks so much for your lovely feedback. Much appreciated 😊😊
I preferred it better before the second blowout but the colors are beautiful!
Thank you 🤩
Nice work. Looks like Mont Marte works like Artist Loft Soft Acrylic Paint as far as the cells and lacing. Pretty cool.
Thank you so much.
😊🙏😊
Very nice amigo
Thank you 😊
WOW 👍
Thank you 😊
Lovely. I am so glad you blew it out more. I was hoping you could hear me yelling at you. Lol
I heard you I heard you!! Haha 😂 xx
schön, sehr schön
Thank you 😊
Sehr schön
Thank you 🙏
Gorgeouzzzzzz
Thank you 😊
Beautiful colors and effects but much prettier before that last blowout.
Thank you 😊
Those colours go so well together May I ask which monte marte paint you are using. Is it the signature ones that I could get on amazon for a good price? Thanks.
Thank you. Yes it’s signature acrylic 👍🏻😊
Hello mark .. you said you mix your paints the day you use them., I was wondering what you do with left over paints .. I have way too much 😬
I usually just cover them up or wrap the cup up in a bag or even in an air tight container 👍🏻
Hi mark how did you prepare your white base please..
Hi Lynn. This is a Mont Marte base with glue/water 70/30 - thank you 😊
I can see it from here the portal like in the middle right from the middle to your right I think there’s a lot of painting
Wow looks like an icecap in the middle with a 3D effect
Thank you so much 😊
How did the white cells begin forming
Thank you- I find that Mont Marte paint as a base really helps to create cells and pearls when it’s very fluid 👍🏻
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt and what shall I use if I dont want anyyyy lacing/ cells?
@@dalialovesdoggies4361 to minimise cells I always use thicker paint (although still fluid) with a thicker base coat. 👍🏻
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt thicker paint meaning thicker consistency?
@@dalialovesdoggies4361 yes 👍🏻
Could you text me the white brand of paint please! And! Another gorgeous pour 😍
Thank you! I think the base for this one was titanium white by Mont Marte
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt thank you, my Texas ears from the united states couldn't understand the Mont marte with your absolutely gorgeous accent 😍 . I'm not sure I can find that here 🤔 research time kimberley.
@@kimbristow7861 haha thank you you’re too kind 😊
By the way, You said you were going to do the same colors in a swipe - but I can't seem to find that video....Did you forget? LOL Thank you in advance!
It’ll be released on Wednesday 👍🏻so will be this weeks video
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt I thought I had the bell clicked under the videos, I didn't. NOW I do, so I'll hear the notification when you do upload new videos. It's early so that's my excuse! LOL😁
@@meganconnell-cox6425 😊😂😂 thank you
"cool setting"
Oh.... my.... lord...
I've always done warm/hot, but maybe that dries the paint as you move it?
Thank you so much Amy. If you use a warm setting it would heat up the paint and depending how hot it was would start drying it and creating a film on top.
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt that's exactly what's been happening #TheMoreYouKnow
@@AmaterianAngel well, at least you’re troubleshooting the issues and resolving them so it’s all good 👍🏻
Beautiful!
