2015 VW Golf 7 GTE (204hp) - 0-200 km/h acceleration (1080p)

  • Fast Autobahn acceleration test of the 2014/2015 Volkswagen Golf 7 GTE with the twin-engine concept delivering 204 hp and up to 350 Nm of torque. While the 1.4 TSI with 150 hp is already not really slow, they added the 102 hp electric motor out of the e-Golf to make this a prober GT(E). As you can see, this car really pulls once you put it in "B" (Boost?) and GTE-mode. I don't really know why it is significantly faster than what VW claims but it also feels like more than 200 hp! Especially as I tested the Golf 7 GTD and GTI (220hp) I can tell that this hybrid is very close to the GTI! Besides that you get an "E-Mode" that lets you accelerate pretty decent up to 130 km/h and drive totally quiet in cities... I personally like it! On top of that, you get the quick-shifting DSG (6-speed) that also shifts in E-Mode...very cool! Please make sure to LIKE / COMMENT & SUBSCRIBE and don't miss the full DRIVE & SOUND of this car coming out within the next days!

    GTE Day 06: I know you are thinking, yeah, electric driving is great... but show us the real performance of this car. Well, here you go! A full throttle acceleration test in E-Mode and finally in GTE-Mode;) As you can see, the acceleration is really really impressive and if you would measure the time from 80-120 km/h or so I believe its even quicker than a MK7 GTI. Anyhow, today I had to return the Golf 7 GTE after an exciting week of intensive testing and driving almost 2.000 km with a awesomely well built plug-in hybrid car that everybody of you should try out once you have the chance. In the end its a "normal" Golf with a lot of cool stuff in it to show off to your friends....in a positive way!

    Around 170kmh you see the ‘boost’-dial go to it’s halfway point. When you lift the throttle for a fraction of a second and then go back to kick down again, the dial would go all the way. This way the 0-200 time would improve and you’ll feel a noticable difference in acceleration.

    I drive this and I'm loving this car. I have mine specced up with leather, reversing camera, and some more gimmicks like parking itself (I didn't spec it myself, chose from a few available ones). However, you should probably know that the "B" stands for the recuperative breaking. In B mode the car brakes when you lift off the throttle. Also, the 102hp electric motor is not the same as in the e-Golf. It's a different motor that is housed inside the DSG gearbox in the GTE. Also, the grunting engine noises in GTE mode are artificial, the speaker system produces those deep tones.

      @SirMrShanks Před 3 lety +2

      Incorrect : B on a gearbox is engine breaking, used when driving down large hills so your car does not free fall down the hill, it increases engine drag and oftentimes cuts off battery charging to avoid overcharging while coasting.

      +J Wester 1) this car was not made for power but for fuel economy(the 200hp is more like a bonus because it's VW not a prius)
      2) with a 2.0L engine they wont have enough space to put the electric one along side to it(and don't forget about wight of bigger engine and the batteries.

    • @jwester7009
      @jwester7009 Před 8 lety +8

      I gues it's the name I'm complaining about then. GTE sounds to me like a hybrid GTI. But it has nothing to do with a GTI. It's just a plain Golf with an electric helper. Personally I think that is a big mistake.

    • @abdbach379
      @abdbach379 Před 8 lety +4

      I agree with you in one point and that is the fact they're using a petrol engine too there is a diesel version and I think is better it has a 1.4l tdi with 150hp (personally i think this is incredible) and it does 1.5L/100km seriously it's 188mpg from a car with 200hp combined and about the GTE i think is more like GT+E like the golf GT which has a 150hp engine i think that's what they ment by GTE a GT + electric engine

    • @Kingpin763
      @Kingpin763 Před 7 lety +11

      2.0tsi is wayy to big and heavy the car will nog drive that well with the extra weight, so its a smart move to use the 1.4, and if you thingk the 2.0is more fuel efficiënt its not thats why the 1.4is the hybrid model.
      And really why its called a gte? I am not even going to waste time here. Peaceout

    • @jwester7009
      @jwester7009 Před 7 lety +4

      So let us get some facts then. What exactly is the weight difference between the 1.4 and the 2.0 engine? And if that would really be a problem then they could just use the 1.8tsi as they use in the Polo GTI. I don't think it's a waste of time discussing why they've named it GTE. I think that is the main reason for this discussion. A GTE should be as powerful or more powerful than a GTI. You don't mess around with that name because it automatically addresses people who wants power.

    • @Automann-TV
      @Automann-TV  Před 9 lety

      Sure. The car is 100% stock, delivered right off the factory in January. The GTE shows different acceleration behaviors based on the charging status and drive-train mode you select. In this video I had the battery fully charged, put it in GTE-mode and additionally put the transmission in "B" for whatever;) That helped to achieve this acceleration but I also realized that in some situations the car doesn't reach 100% of the boost scale. Maybe the fact that this ist just measured from speedo and your figures where GPS explain that difference. I haven't driven an A3 e-Tron yet, so can't tell if the car has the exact same behavior. Greets.

      +Hasan Murat Sarikaya It's basicly a 1.4TSI with a electric motor bolted directly to the output shaft of the gearbox. Gearbox just switches to neutral when the power is comming from the electric motor only. When running together with the 1.4TSI, the electric motor just adds to the amount of power delivered together with the petrol engine!

      muellsky Well, I don't really know why all those other bloggers and video channels were not able to get this car to 100 km/h any quicker;-) What I did is to put the car in "GTE-mode", put the transmission in "B" (Boost?) and then floored it from the standstill (no launch control or similar). In my test I almost had no wheelspin, because the E-Engine regulates the throttle perfectly. I myself was surprised that it was this quick, but it was recorded and measured with the same equipment that I tested the GTI and GTD with!

      Automann-TV Als Autoenthusiast bin ich dir sehr dankbar für deine Videos und Einschätzungen da ich beruflich bedingt nicht die Zeit habe verschiedene Modelle zu testen. Um zum Thema jedoch zurück zu kommen, hat mir persönlich beim Golf 7 GTI die Kraft im unteren Drezahlbereich gefehlt. Das hat aber bestimmt damit zu tun, dass ich lange Zeit Diesel (BMW 30d & 20d) gefahren bin. Auf der Autobahn konnte mich jedoch der GTI stets überzeugen. Der aktuelle S3 packt dabei noch einen drauf ;-) Darf ich fragen welches Auto du privat fährst?

    • @speeddayflo
      @speeddayflo Před 9 lety +1

      Automann-TV 7,1 Liter klingen jetzt aber nicht so berauschend. Vielleicht tut sich ja da noch was wenn man statt der E10 Plörre normales Super tankt.
      Aber allein deinem Bericht in Fb (7,2 Liter bei 600km Autobahn mit max. 160km/h) nach zu Urteilen sehe ich kein Argument für das Fahrzeug. Den Verbrauch schafft man mit einem Golf GTI auch. Man müsste mal errechnen nach wieviel tausenden von km sich der Mehrpreis vom GTE zum GTI wieder ausgleicht...

    • @Automann-TV
      @Automann-TV  Před 9 lety

      fakeforever Der Antritt ist genau das was dieses Fahrzeug von einem GTI oder GTD unterscheidet, insbesondere im reinen E-Modus in der Stadt. Er wiegt zwar 150 kg mehr als ein GTI fühlt sich aber beim beschleunigen leichter an. Auf der Autobahn geht ein GTI obenrum noch einmal spürbar besser, aber eben erst oberhalb von 200 km/h.....der GTD kann da nur mit Mühe mithalten. Autos wechseln bei mir sehr häufig, aktuell habe ich eine Audi S3 Limousine.

    • @Automann-TV
      @Automann-TV  Před 9 lety

      speeddayflo Also das sind schon ein paar tausend km bis sich das Auto rechnet, aber ich glaube darum geht es den meisten auch nicht. Wenn du auf der Autobahn mit einem GTI mithalten möchtest und unter der Woche rein elektrisch zur Arbeit fährst, dann gibt es nicht viele bezahlbare Alternativen. Bei vergleichbarer Fahrweise (hast getestet) verbraucht der GTI ca. 8,5 Liter, der GTE 7,0 - 7,5 und ein GTD etwa 6,0 - 6,5 Liter D, auf der Autobahn wohlgemerkt. Rein in der Stadt sinds dann min. 10 für den GTI, theoretisch 0 für den GTE und ja so 7-8 für den GTD....für meine Strecken lohnt sich der GTE weniger, wenn man täglich max. 100 km fährt sieht das schon besser aus für den GTE.

    Mal was anderes, der GTE. Auch wenn er wie der i3 bei BMW wohl hauptsächlich dazu konzipiert wurde, um mit seinen 35g CO2 auf 100 km (NEFZ) den Schnitt der VW-Flotte ins vorgegebene Maß zu drücken und VW so die Möglichkeit gibt, stärkere Modelle zu rechtfertigen - von daher: Willkommen GTE. VW gibt 1,5 l/100km als Verbrauch für den Verbrennungsmotor an. Du hast (wenn auch sportlich gefahrene) 7,1l/100km. Das sind satte 500% Unterschied! Man stelle sich mal vor, man würde einen mit 5l/100km angegebenen Kompaktwagen auf 25l/100km hochtreiben. Ich behaupte, das ist nur schwer machbar. Dann noch der Preis von 35.000 Euro oder mehr. Sparen kann man mit diesem Auto nicht wirklich. Die Beschleunigung ist dennoch beeindruckend.

    • @Automann-TV
      @Automann-TV  Před 9 lety +1

      Andreas Schmitz Nein, rechnen tun sich diese Hybrid-Fahrzeuge heute noch nicht, insbesondere dann nicht wenn man wie ich viele Kilometer bei hoher Geschwindigkeit auf der der Autobahn fährt. Aus Kostensicht ist ein GTD dann die bessere Wahl, allerdings liefert der weder rein elektrisches Fahren noch diese beeindruckende Elastizität. In einem Punkt muss ich allerdings widersprechen, VW gibt die 1.5 l/100 km für einen Mix mit E-Motor an, wohlgemerkt bei voll geladenen Batterien und nur für genau die 100 km und nicht für 600 km die ich gestern gefahren bin. Die Zahl kommt eher hin denn mit voll geladen Batterien auf 100 km (keine Autobahn) komme ich dann auch auf ca. 3,0 Liter Super....von Dienstag bis Do. diese Woche bin ich gar mit 0,0 Liter S gefahren, da die 90 km rein elektrisch waren. Klar den Strom muss ich oben drauf rechnen, aber lokal emissionsfrei fahre ich ja trotzdem....naja wie mans dreht und wendet;)

    • @AndreasSchmitz11
      @AndreasSchmitz11 Před 9 lety

      Automann-TV Du hast natürlich schon recht, 1,5l im kombinierten Fahrbetrieb mit Verbrennungsmotor und Elektroantrieb. Aber wie sind denn Deine Erfahrungen: reichen voll geladene Batterien im leicht sportlich gefahrenen Alltag um einen kompletten Tank im kombinierten Modus fahren zu können? Ansonsten macht die 1,5l-Angabe keinen Sinn und ist nur auf den 20 Minuten dauernden NEFZ-Zyklus bezogen. Bei Hybridfahrzeugen ist die Kluft schon arg groß und der NEFZ-Verbrauch noch weniger aussagekräftig. Und eine Frage noch: wenn die Akkus leer sind, gibt es dann durch Rekuperation von Bremsenergie eine Wiederaufladung und der Elektroantrieb steigt dann irgendwann wieder mit ein?

    • @Automann-TV
      @Automann-TV  Před 9 lety

      Andreas Schmitz Wie lange die Batterien halten hängt nicht nur von der Fahrweise sondern auch vom Profil (Höhenmeter, Geschwindigkeit) ab. Wenn ich nur Stadt oder Land fahre dann sind die Batterien nach ca. 70 km im Hybrid-Modus bis auf 3-4 km leer, fahre ich allerdings hauptsächlich Autobahn bei 140 - 150 km/h kann es sein dass die Batterien alleine durch die Rekupation auch nach 250 km noch bei 30 km sind. Fahre ich also sportlich die Kassler Berge hoch sind sie oben fast leer, unten angelangt habe ich dann wieder 25 km Reichweite. Daher hatte ich gestern auch insgesamt 125 km mit Zero Emission, also fast die 3-fache Akkureichweite.

      Automann-TV Hallo, ich habe leider nicht so gute Erfahrung mit der Reichweite (nur Electrisch). Mein Display sagt zB 47km mit vollen Batterien. Aber mit 100km/Stunde ist es 20-25km. Das ist meiner Meinung ein bisschen zu wenig. Im vergleich mit dem Ampera / Volt welche im winter noch leicht 40km schaffen kan. Golf ist ein neuere Version so ich hatte gedacht das 50 km Reichweite kein Problem wäre.. Aufladen bei einem öffentlichen Punkt kost 0,60 cent Transaktiekosten pro Ladung plus die Electricität. Lohnt es sich dann für 25km? Dann ist laden während wir fahren viele Malen einfacher :)
