Ken's mother's death was listed as an accident, and in Ken's eyes, that meant the person who took his mother away from him was walking free from his crime. He didn't want to simply kill his mother's killer, he wanted justice for his mother's death, but the system failed to do so, not to mention the authorities would never accept what actually happened.
Don't hate Ken, He was only doing what he thought was right, a Kid, knowing his mom's killer was walking right infront of him, The hate must've been brewing for so long. It's rational for a kid to think that way , for such a great experience so young.

And this is why I'd much rather play Persona 3 Portable, so I can save Shinji :'( But I've realised as well, these two pretty much just saved Fuuka's life! When Takaya talks about "one like Chidori", he means someone who can track and analyse Shadows, and that's what Fuuka's persona does. So for all those people who say that Ken's a murderer and stuff, he's actually a hero. He almost died in order to protect Fuuka.
Cierrakahana He still would have died anyway. It just would have been delayed. In the Manga it's explained that the pills literally are making his body weaker and it will eventually collapse. That's why he wears that coat all the time. his body temperature is irregular, so he's not hot when he wears it.
Lets be honest though,why would anyone care about him in the male route? he was boring! The only side we get to see of him until this scene was that of a foul mouthed ass hat to put it bluntly. which robbs this scene of all impact when you don't even get to know him as you don't care about him.

The reason Mitsuru and Akihiko didn't blame Ken for his death (which isn't completely true) was because they themselves felt guilty as well. They knew very well what happened the night Ken's mother was killed. Mitsuru even said herself "we were the ones that killed Amada's mother". They never confronted Ken about it either and maybe if he talked to them, all of this could have been avoided. Too bad they never did, instead they gave him time and later Akihiko does confront Ken and gives him the motivation to live for his mother and Shinji. Shinji did say to take care of Ken. Shinji felt guilty for not just killing a woman, he felt guilty for ruining the life of a child and wanted to die because of it. He didn't care how he died he just didn't want Ken to do it because he didn't want to make his life even worse than it was. Ken was going to kill himself after killing Shinji. That's why Shinji was saying stuff like "c'mon you're just a kid... you have your whole life ahead of you so don't waste it..." I wasn't surprised at all when they didn't ignore or shun Ken after Oct. 4th. It made sense. Like Shinji said, "this is how it should be" Sorry for writing a lot, after analyzing and studying the P3 characters Ken has to be my favorite and I get quite upset when people misunderstand the whole meaning and concept of Oct. 4th. It wasn't just to kill off a character, it was to strengthen the characters' bond and give them the motivation to continue living for a loved ones' sake.
SEES kept too many secrets for far too long. Mitsuru was the leader of the group and she should've drawn a connection to Ken and Shinjiro the moment they let Ken stay in the dorms.
I know like Ken knows who did it, Shinji Knows what he did. Why even have them in the same dorm if you aren't gonna have them talk it out and Meth Hippy wouldn't be able to shoot Shinji
I felt so down walking into Shinji's empty room the day after and finding his equipment in a cardboard box on his desk. I shed deep feels as I looked at the Mjolnir I had made him for the battle and vowed to shove it up Takaya's ass for him. Sideways.
Sad I can't do that in Portable. Aroundight will slice through for him. And the Wicked Cestus, the Ga Boo, and the Claymore, and most definitely the Lance of Death.
How was P5's writing poor? None of the games have poor writing. At worst they are all solid. I don't how anyone could see P5's characters as poorly written. In fact I don't even know what people are talking about when they say stuff like that, lol.
Sad fact: Shijiro’s persona ONLY has use of attacks and skills that drain his HP. Due to the suppressors he took to hide his power, using it at all causes him to suffer.
There’s a certain crustiness and vibe the original has that will just never be replaced or replicated with modern means. I absolutely love what Reload did to the scene, which is why I think it’s best treated as a complement than a replacement.

I just watched the Reload ver. of this cutscene, and I still prefer the OG. It hits way more hard and you gotta love how Aragaki chooses to stand before succumbing to death.
Am I the only one bugged by the fact that it takes the entire party walking all the way from the station to the dorm for Mitsuru to realize Ken's out trying to kill Shinji?
So, a little boy with no parents, who honestly wanted to kill himself, and then deluded himself to kill someone else as revenge for his mother, deserved to die? ...plus, he didn't even kill the guy! It was Takaya! Hell, in the japanese version, he's like "I don't want to kill Shinjiro anymore."
Not only that but Shinjiro was going to die anyway, either to Ken getting his revenge (and falling into the same pit as Shinjiro), his pills, or Takaya. So he went out saving Ken so he could live. and Ken broke because now, he can't even get revenge, all of the emotions hit him, he doesn't even get to die too.
Why so much hate on Ken??? I mean if you've played Persona Q Shadow of The Labyrinth, there's a part with Kanji and Ken, Ken keeps on ranting on about his moms death, and that's probably how you would react as well. JourneyML1 to be honest the whole thing surrounding ken is dumb, mitsuru and Akihiko themselves knew what happened yet distanced themselves from it, the whole thing could of been avoided if they faced it and actually spent time talking about it, and letting ken and SHINJI do there thing in a safe manor, I mean I dislike ken because of how he is as a character not just shinji's death, he was however the catalyst for it. All in all the blame lies on each of them, another thing to note, is that shinji was unfortunately kinda already dieing due to the suoressors, and due to his lack of will to live in the male story, death was a certainty :(
Ken wasn't even the one who killed him! You can clearly see the kid is hesitating and doesn't want to go through with it. It was Takaya who shot Shinji. Not to mention Shinji would've died anyway because of the drugs or his persona. Seriously, leave Ken alone. The kid is barely twelve and already has depression and suicidal tendencies because of trauma.

I think it’s because we knew that Shinjiro lost control of his persona and killed his mother by accident. But Ken has already made up his mind, when he has already seen that Shinjiro deeply cares about him He does feel guilt over what he did (even though it was an accident) You have to keep in mind Shinjiro also joined the group even though he didn’t want to rejoin because of his drawbacks and because of Ken. I don’t hate ken either, but it does make my blood boil that he never did connect more He genuinely seems like a smart kid. He would also have to realize that if he did Shinji he wouldn’t be any better, he would have killed an innocent young man for something he had no control over. But I like how detailed and in-depth this is, really makes you think and challenge you if what Ken is doing is correct.
in most video games, antagonists, villains are always very important, most of them have a reason for doing what they do, a side where their actions make sense in a way. like sephiroth. i look at takaya and all i see is a megalomaniac drunk in power and his joy in causing pain. his defeat in persnoa 3 wasnt painful enough.

I feel horrible for Ken actually. He's a kid who at one point wanted to unlive himself! With what happened to his mum, then even police not believing him, he thought he surely only had one goal of getting to his mum's killer. But, at the very end realising that the outcome really didn't actually make him one bit happier, but in fact worse. He's definitely filled with regret. His main goal was for nothing, and he ends up feeling more pain than ever because he obviously isn't a bad person. He was a kid hurting a lot
I never saw it that way and didn't care for him. Pretty much every main character had some form of tragedy. But Ken essentially got shinji killed and had no repercussion for it. The community's hatred for him is 100% justified imo

I actually overall like how this scene went in Reload, but I do wish the cinematic in Reload took just a few more cues from this iteration. Also MAN though I forgot about Derek Stephen Prince's performance as Takaya.

As a person that played the games in the order of P5, P4, and P3 FES, really thought Ken was gonna end up being super evil, his character arc really grew on me.
I felt Hope's hatred for Snow felt contrived Imo. He even says Snow used and manipulated his mother even though his mother volunteered and Snow didn't pressured her at all and tried to save her.
After replaying this game with portable I was so disappointed that the original animated cutscene wasn’t there that I just had to search it up on CZcams to see its greatness again
I think it's a well known fact that P3P doesn't have anime cutscenes, but if you're playing on PC there's a mod that restore all the anime cutscenes, so you should check it out.

Shinji would have been saved right here, With the Dark Hour they should have quickly used their persona's to use a Healing on him, but i know that they were shocked that they didnt have the thought of it.
A drifter in a crimson shroud...an ally weighed down by his darkness. He died protecting someone he wronged... Shinjiro was a great character. And in death, he gave Akihiko and Ken the resolve to become stronger
Both moments are great but damn. The fact that shinjiros link episodes tie in with his death and consequences, and also that the study sessions after show how much his death has effected SEES is amazing.
Ken's delivery in his lines were so much better here than in Reload, I also don't like how they changed the dialogue, they should've copied these lines exactly imo
At least Persona 3 FES had the common decency to let Shinji stay dead and not pull that stupid shit they pulled in Portable where you could technically rescue Cihiro after her "death" if you maxed everyone's social link high enough

I just watched the Reload ver. of this cutscene, and I still prefer the OG. It hits way more hard and you gotta love how Aragaki chooses to stand before succumbing to death.
Am I the only one bugged by the fact that it takes the entire party walking all the way from the station to the dorm for Mitsuru to realize Ken's out trying to kill Shinji?

So, a little boy with no parents, who honestly wanted to kill himself, and then deluded himself to kill someone else as revenge for his mother, deserved to die?
...plus, he didn't even kill the guy! It was Takaya! Hell, in the japanese version, he's like "I don't want to kill Shinjiro anymore."
Not only that but Shinjiro was going to die anyway, either to Ken getting his revenge (and falling into the same pit as Shinjiro), his pills, or Takaya.
So he went out saving Ken so he could live.
and Ken broke because now, he can't even get revenge, all of the emotions hit him, he doesn't even get to die too.
If they remembered what happened in persona q, then maybe this could be prevented...
Then again, Shnji could die of the persona drugs he has taken.

Why so much hate on Ken??? I mean if you've played Persona Q Shadow of The Labyrinth, there's a part with Kanji and Ken, Ken keeps on ranting on about his moms death, and that's probably how you would react as well. PLUS it got treated as an accident. Sure, I wouldn't intend to kill the guy, but I'd sure give him a good beating. Srsly doh, the feels :(

JourneyML1 to be honest the whole thing surrounding ken is dumb, mitsuru and Akihiko themselves knew what happened yet distanced themselves from it, the whole thing could of been avoided if they faced it and actually spent time talking about it, and letting ken and SHINJI do there thing in a safe manor, I mean I dislike ken because of how he is as a character not just shinji's death, he was however the catalyst for it. All in all the blame lies on each of them, another thing to note, is that shinji was unfortunately kinda already dieing due to the suoressors, and due to his lack of will to live in the male story, death was a certainty :(
Ken wasn't even the one who killed him! You can clearly see the kid is hesitating and doesn't want to go through with it. It was Takaya who shot Shinji. Not to mention Shinji would've died anyway because of the drugs or his persona. Seriously, leave Ken alone. The kid is barely twelve and already has depression and suicidal tendencies because of trauma.

this is a 10 year old boy who lost his mother and found that the person who killed his mother is a friend who had died in front of him
I think it’s because we knew that Shinjiro lost control of his persona and killed his mother by accident.
But Ken has already made up his mind, when he has already seen that Shinjiro deeply cares about him
He does feel guilt over what he did (even though it was an accident)
You have to keep in mind Shinjiro also joined the group even though he didn’t want to rejoin because of his drawbacks and because of Ken.
I don’t hate ken either, but it does make my blood boil that he never did connect more
He genuinely seems like a smart kid.
He would also have to realize that if he did Shinji he wouldn’t be any better, he would have killed an innocent young man for something he had no control over.
But I like how detailed and in-depth this is, really makes you think and challenge you if what Ken is doing is correct.

I feel horrible for Ken actually. He's a kid who at one point wanted to unlive himself! With what happened to his mum, then even police not believing him, he thought he surely only had one goal of getting to his mum's killer. But, at the very end realising that the outcome really didn't actually make him one bit happier, but in fact worse. He's definitely filled with regret. His main goal was for nothing, and he ends up feeling more pain than ever because he obviously isn't a bad person. He was a kid hurting a lot
I never saw it that way and didn't care for him. Pretty much every main character had some form of tragedy. But Ken essentially got shinji killed and had no repercussion for it. The community's hatred for him is 100% justified imo

So why do people look at this scene and blame Ken for it? Takaya was the one who actually killed Shinjiro, in a moment I feel is utter nonsense considering that in actual gameplay Shinjiro and Ken could have whipped him.
Every Strega fight was easier than any low-level Shadow.
This is what bugs me most about the deaths that happen in p3. Like, someone, come on, diarama? Recarn? Something? Nope, we're just going to watch him die.

After replaying this game with portable I was so disappointed that the original animated cutscene wasn’t there that I just had to search it up on CZcams to see its greatness again
I think it's a well known fact that P3P doesn't have anime cutscenes, but if you're playing on PC there's a mod that restore all the anime cutscenes, so you should check it out.

Shinjiro was a great character. And in death, he gave Akihiko and Ken the resolve to become stronger

Both moments are great but damn. The fact that shinjiros link episodes tie in with his death and consequences, and also that the study sessions after show how much his death has effected SEES is amazing.
Ken's delivery in his lines were so much better here than in Reload, I also don't like how they changed the dialogue, they should've copied these lines exactly imo
