「Persona 3 FES」Answer: "Final Boss & Ending"

- The events of The Answer begin on March 31, shortly after the end of the original game. During the opening sequence, it is revealed that the Protagonist has died; the other characters speculate that his death is related to his defeating Nyx. The school year has ended, and the dorm is to be closed down soon. Aigis reveals to the group that she will not be attending school next year. During their last dinner party, the SEES members discover that they are trapped in their dorm, and that the day March 31 is repeating itself. Later, a large door-like hole opens in the floor of the dorm, and SEES is attacked by Metis, an anti-shadow weapon similar to Aigis. In the midst of fighting Metis to protect her friends, Aigis's Persona, Athena, transforms into Orpheus, the original Persona of the Protagonist. She also gains the Protagonist's Wild Card ability. Aigis is able to subdue Metis, whose actions were an attempt to end the time skip and save Aigis, who she calls her "sister".
Underneath the dorm is the Abyss of Time, the cause of the time skip. The Abyss contains seven doors, the insides of which contain multi-floor dungeons, similar in design to Tartarus; it is in these areas that the game's combat takes place. At the top of each dungeon, the characters witness an event from the past of a member of SEES. After seeing several of these flashbacks, the characters discern that the event shown in each door relates to how that person had awakened to their Persona. At the top of the seventh and final door, SEES fights a Shadow-like version of the Protagonist. After defeating it, each of them obtain a key. By combining the keys, they would be able to end the time skip and leave the dorm. However, Metis presents SEES with an alternative: instead of unlocking the front door of the dorm, they may also use the keys to travel back in time, to before the fight against Nyx and the death of the Protagonist. Now unable to agree on how to use the keys, the characters determine that they must fight each other to decide. Aigis, Fuuka and Metis claim all eight keys, which fuse into the Final Key. After debating on what to do now, they discover a third, new door in the Abyss of Time, which the group uses (without the Final Key) to travel to the moment the Protagonist sealed Nyx from the world.
Metis explains that the purpose of the seal created by the Protagonist was not to seal away Nyx herself (who is not inherently evil), but to prevent humanity's despair from calling out to Nyx and bringing about the Fall once more. The subconscious will of mankind to despair and wish for death constantly rebirths a monster called Erebus that summons Nyx to destroy the world; Metis implies that Erebus's contact with Nyx is what caused the Fall (that was prevented by SEES). SEES realizes that the wishes that created Erebus also came from them, and so they fight it, and are able to defeat it. Mitsuru points out that Erebus will return, as humans will never stop wishing for death. After breaking the time skip and exiting through the front door of the dorm with the Final Key, Metis, Aigis, and the rest of SEES are summoned to the Velvet Room, much to Igor's (pleasant) surprise. It is here they learn of Metis's true origins: that she is a manifestation of a part of Aigis's personality. Distraught over the death of the Protagonist, she no longer wanted to live like a human, and wished to return to being a machine. However, after being set free from the Abyss of Time, Aigis changes her mind, deciding to continue to attend school, something she had chosen not to do earlier.

I certainly hope Atlus would do something about Makoto/Minato. Since P4 mentioned Elisabeth doing something about "freeing the blue haired boy's soul". I just hope she succeeds.
I would certaintly like that, but it would completly nullify the ending of the journey, for a sacrifice to matter the person has to stay dead

Freeing someones soul from a statue so they can move on to the other side does not nullify the game. Even if he did get a body it doesn't erase the development of the game. So no it wouldnt make the journey.

Lastly, there is very obvious hints that P3 MC is the messiah aka Jesus. If he doesnt return this means 3 things.
1- What you claim.
2-They are making a statement about Jesus not returning.
3-They simply just dont want to revive him because they are moving on to newer games.

I think the hardest part of this scene is seeing makoto wrapped in barb wire. He is already getting harassed by erebus and he also has to deal with the wire. It's just tragic.

I see now.. Having the SEES' members moving on from MC's death without sorrow and keep on living for his sake is what the MC would ever wanted, it's the only way to return MC's favor. They just didn't see it until they witness the MC as the Great Seal and after hearing Metis' explanation. I hope Elizabeth can free the MC and bring him back to life (I heard we will know more about this in P5).

Mark Misa now come to think of it, I don't really know whether Elizabeth wants to revive him or just free his soul while the body stays dead. But I agree something really special must happen first for it to be a major plot point.

Just like someone mention it, Persona 5 is about changing heart, so I think by then humanity will no longer have the desire for death.
But I agree, if he got revived, it must be for some kind of epic plot.
My guess is that the Protag changed that part of the heart that made people unwilling to fight against their darker sides and wish to be enslaved. This filling them with a will to fight and overcome themselves took away their desire for death which was a result of their feeling like they had no hope.
Then what will happen is that Erebus will be destroyed due to being so weakened by that change of heart that what will then happen is that Elizabeth will be able to free Door-kun

Kaosorer I mean, the Phantom Thieves did still humanity's distorted desires, so it's entirely possible that they no longer wish for death.
I would argue that what the Phantom Thieves did was remove people from the desire to be free from the difficulties of life (aka the sin of sloth). I wouldn't exactly say that this is removing them from wanting death... that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

Well, for the MC they did not understand what the hell happened. They only come to terms with his sacrifice after understanding what he did, what he was trully sealing and why.
With Shinjiro it was a sad death, but one they understood what happened to kill him.

@@DusKnight7th Yeah but nobody wanted to miss the chance to escape only for going to the past. Koromaru, Junpei, Ken and Akihiko (I almost forgot vut Fuuka too) all wanted to leave. And Mitsuru, Aigis and Metis were okay with that even after having some doubts after listening to what Ken and Akihiko had to say. Buuuut Yukari even after that DEFINETLY wants to go to the past to "save" him. Even after they were out of practice at the beginning of the game and are more or less the same level that the last time. C'mon even Junpei mocks her for being so hypocrite and having a total lack of common sense. But well after that only because YUKARI wanted (And for Metis idea) they all divide in 4 teams being that they are eight. Nobody would have gone with Yukari if Mitsuru wasn't feeling in so much debt with her (Because she stated at least 3 times that she wasn't in her side for sharing opinions) So yeah the fact stays. They did come to terms and accepted the death of Makoto in one way or another. The only one that didn't was Yukari. And as I demonstrated, she risked the lifes of everyone (Except hers) to prove that ridiculous point

I noticed something, in the game it's April first, which is April fools day, and as you know the fool arcana is the number "0" so in this case. it's representing of the fool arcana, which is in the game Makoto and Aigis
I know this is old but the reason it was April the 1st was bc of that reason. The fool means the coming of new beginnings and that's what p3 characters got. Also Igor pulled a massive gottem with metis.

now, I do feel Persona 5 is a bit down in compare as it feels like a lesser verison of Persona 4 with a hell setting

Yet when you have SEES and IT comment on their Wild cards in the Persona Q art book, it's Yu who's put on pedestal by every single member of his team while with Door-kun, his comments, while mostly positive, are far more teasing, with both Yukari and Junpei outright making fun of him.
Or you have Yu relieving the responsibility of leading the team with no irony whatsoever in P3 route, but when P3MC tries to do the same in P4 route, Junpei calls him out for his attempt to shun off responsibility. These small things showing P3MC just a slightly silly NPC instead of an infallible self-insert are my favourite scenes of his tbh. :D

There is nothing impossible if Philemon the one who release the seal. He is Igor Master and probably as strong as Yaldabaoth P5

During the post-credits sequence of the second movie, it has announced that a third movie for Persona 3 will be coming soon.
The movie is titled “Persona 3 the Movie #3 Falling Down” and at the end of the credits, the movie ended with character Ryouji appearing .

I watched the 1st movie last week, and the progression they are making the movies I believe has a great chance of Atlus animate "Answer" and because it would be a continuation of the original.
I had not thought on "Answer" but now I'm excited to be in expectation of a future announcement.
I believe that may have an announcement in the credits of the 3rd movie or a few months later.

The only thing Elizabeth can do is to talk to Philemon, hes the only god like being who can save the MC
But If I remember right the gods, in Persona, like Philemon and not allowed to interfere directly with humans, only oversee, that was the point behind the first two games, something broke that rule so he stepped in and left after the second game, but Nyx is fulfilling her purpose willed into existence by humanity. This is the same reason those of the Velvet Room that he created are not allowed to do so as well and why Elizabeth had to leave when she decided to do so. The Velvet Room and it’s attendants are only allowed to provide aid to those with a contract, and those individuals are bond by the consequences of their choices. One group is allowed to attempt change, and if they chose not to that is also up to them. The only thing that could save him if humanity itself choses to remember life instead of death and thus no longer calls to Nyx

:High school rooftop:
Narrator: Chidori suddenly walks over as the group surrounds Yuki who has just seemingly closed his eyes sitting with Aegis.
Junpei: Chidori!?
Chidori: Hello, Junpei-san. I remember you all now, I remember all of you, I remember everything that happened again!
Yukari: Why's she here?
Chidori: I showed up for a reason. There's something Takaya told me while I was still a part of Strega. He said there was no way to defeat Nyx to you all. That was a lie. There is one way you could defeat Nyx. That is through the great seal. Essentially, your leader here has sealed away Nyx, Nyx cannot be killed. That is why Takaya and Jin tried to stop you from reaching the top of Tartarus, they didn't want him to be able to stop Nyx even though the chance was 1 in a million. In order for the great seal to be effective, he had to sacrifice himself to become a door to hold back Nyx from the world. Ever since Junpei has come into my life, I've feared death. Your leader didn't fear it, which is why this was the only way he thought he could take to save the world. There's still time to save him, he's in a coma like state right now. He is not actually dead yet. He will be soon however if I don't heal him. Don't worry Junpei, this will not kill me, it will make me very tired, but since he's still alive and here, you won't have to worry.
Narrator: Everyone is astonished at what they've just heard.
Yukari: Ugh, he is so gonna get it once you bring him fully back here.
Fuuka: I sense his life is fading away. She's telling the truth. Let her heal him.
Mitsuru: Very well, Chidori, you can proceed in bringing him back.
Junpei: Just be careful, Chidori. I've lost you once already! I can't let it happen again.
Narrator: Chidori nods and walks over to where Aegis is holding Makoto. She's puts her finger on his forehead as she begins to heal him.
Chidori: It's done.
Fuuka: He's coming back, I sense him strong again.
Narrator: Makoto opens his eyes and sits up from where Aegis is.
Yukari: You are so dead, Yuki! Making us all worry like that!
Aegis: How could you not say anything to us?
Narrator: Tears begin to flow down Aegis's face.
Makoto (Me): I'm sorry, I did not want to trouble all of you with my departure. I knew what I had to do against Nyx, thank you Chidori. I did not have a reason for living until I joined SEES. I didn't care whether I lived or died, I've said that before. But now, I'm not afraid of dying, but I'd like to live on with all of you. I believe we've just had the second miracle we sought.
Aegis: I can't express how mad I am at you for not telling us you'd be dead soon after that battle.
Yukari: You and me both. We've all been through so much this year and you just made us think we'd lost you forever!
Aki: Let him rest. He just saved the entire world.
Mitsuru: Can we all stop this?
Makoto (Me): Listen, you all taught me that an empty life is not a life worth living, that is why I used the seal on Nyx, it is because it was my purpose. The door is still there, but I'm no longer needed there thanks to Chidori.
Junpei: Can we just celebrate already? That's what we came here for right? I want all the sushi and all the drinks.
Makoto (Me): Everyone, can you forgive me for not saying anything?
Yukari: I forgive you, but I'm still mad at you!
Aegis: Forgiven, but I will not be leaving your side ever. You scared me.
Mitsuru: I may have to order your execution later on for what you just did, but you're forgiven.
Ken: Forgiven, your sacrifice reminds me of Shinjiro.
Aki: I understand why you did it, if there was an easier way you would have taken it.
Koromaru: Woof Woof!
Fuuka: I forgive you, but you scared all of us to death.
Makoto (Me): Thank you. Let's go eat now.
Narrator: Makoto finds himself in the velvet room once again.
Igor: My my, what an interesting turn of events. Your powerful bonds of friendship have kept you around. You have found the answer to life and have had two brilliant miracles. The voices and aid of your friends has kept you living despite your touch with death. Feel free to visit anytime, you truly have been, the most remarkable guest.
Narrator: The scenes play out of everyone having a good time together and enjoying graduation day at the high school.

Narrator: Everyone is up bright and early as they prepare for their last day in the current dorms. Fuuka calls Yukari.
Fuuka: Um, Yukari-chan, it's me, are you coming today?
Yukari: I have cram school today, do you know if Yuki will be there?
Fuuka: Yes, we're all downstairs already waiting for you. Mitsuru-senpai is talking about us turning over our evokers, but Yuki is saying otherwise.
Yukari: I'm on my way! I'm not passing on this opportunity!
Narrator: The scene cuts to the group at the dorm table.
Makoto (Me): We should still keep these if anything happens, just in case Mitsuru-senpai.
Mitsuru: But we defeated Nyx and saved the world, why bother now?
Makoto (Me): They are a keepsake to our past, had I of passed away, I know you all would be struggling right now. But I'm here now, and I'm going to senior year with Aegis, Yukari, Junpei, and Fuuka. I used up all of my power to protect all of you. It is a miracle I'm here, let us keep these as we move on with our lives. No matter if we're separated our bonds of friendship will remain forever. Speaking of Yukari, where is she?
Fuuka: Oh, she's on her way from cram school, she didn't want to miss this.
Mitsuru: Good, she's on her way.
Makoto (Me): I'm thankful to Chidori for reviving me, not because I was afraid of dying, but because I had grown to be afraid of what you all would do after I was gone, what do you think you all would be doing if I wasn't revived? You'd be fighting, you'd be angry and upset, and I don't want that.
Junpei: Dude, this is the most you've talked all year man, did it take this long for you to open up to us?
Makoto (Me): I just needed some personal space, Junpei.
Narrator: Everyone laughs as Yukari enters the dorm.
Junpei: Hey you're late, what are you doing at cram school?
Yukari: Sorry, I wanted to get started for senior year and our entrance exams early, but I'm here, let's eat sushi!
Narrator: Everyone eats and enjoys themselves, promising to meet again at least once a month despite Mitsuru's and Aki's graduation.
