so it will input into your brain the muscle memory reflex
remember your defense is your offence
you don't fight you just responds for what is coming
remember every combat is " fatal " every time you hit step back and analyze...

you leave them dead because your weapon is knife

WTF??? they are two different arts. kali is all about fighting with a weapon, and kali guy will fight the muay thai guy with a knife or a ginunting in the street. who would win. that's a real match. only time you'll see empty hands from kali is when he drops his weapon and would need to resort to his empty hands. at this point someone would probably already be cut up or tired.... if you're looking for other filipino martial arts, then maybe panantukan/sikaran, or yawyan for empty hands

SunDarating . In fact, the first thing you learn when beginning Arnis de Mano is how to attack. As a beginner, you're a not supposed tobe able to defend yourself with success against a weapon, so, the best way to do is to hit first with a decisive cut, punch, strike... Later on, when you know how to properly damage your opponent, you'll learn how to defend yourself against those attacks. In ancient times, it was a matter of security for the master : Training this way, he could have a build a very efficient agressor, but, if his student challenged him, he could easily defeat him.
