Morricone received the Academy Honorary Award in 2007 "for his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music." He also received 5 Oscar nominations and he won 3 Grammy Awards, 2 Golden Globes as well as numerous other awards, which are too many to mention. A composer of music for the cinema, whose music was an element in itself.

I really didn't know there were so many fans. Thought I was the oddball. Didn't usually mention my intense love for this movie, with all the violence, etc.

I can never listen to this without visualising the boys in the film dancing down the street together before the youngest gets shot...." I slipped Noodles".....reduces me to tears everytime. What a brilliant man Morricone was to be able to transport your soul through his music
Just think about how important it was for each and every band member to be conducted by one of the greatest of all time, I'm sure they still reflect on this moment, and will never forget it,!

Some folks get their visual kick lusting at a Van Gogh or Mona Lisa. I just need my daily fixes for Morricone. I had been a devoted groupie of the Maestro since my youth, more than 35+ years ago when I was hooked on Cinema Paradiso and his sublimed magic never let up. A true genius, modern day Mozart, and a profound gift to humanity. Bravo! RIP the greatest composer of them all.

Vorrei scrivere mille parole, ma è stato già detto tutto su questo capolavoro assoluto. Mi limito a dire che, quando si ascolta questo tema meraviglioso, si strappa la pelle dal corpo, e si resta nudi, vestiti solo della propria anima, e si viene letteralmente trapassati dagli acuti finali del Pan Flute di Ulrich Herkenhoff... Grazie Maestro, per tutta la musica che hai scritto.

Mi chiedo come abbia fatto a comporre una cosa del genere...una macchina del tempo che proietta il film della tua vita..una melodia che fruga nei cassetti della memoria e tira fuori ricordi dimenticati e li rendi vividi e reali. Rivedi volti e luoghi e senti voci ormai così lontani nel tempo...

Una volta un giornalista gli chiese come fa a trovare l'ispirazione e lui rispose "ispirazione? Che ispirazione? Quando devo scrivere un pezzo, prendo un pentagramma, una penna, mi siedo e scrivo". La grossa differenza tra un compositore e un qualsiasi altro musicista è proprio questa, per Morricone scrivere una colonna sonora è come per me scrivere questo commento qui. So cosa dire e lo dico, lui fa uguale solo con la musica.
Poi ci sono anche le genialate, tipo il flauto di Pan impossibile da suonare di Casualties of War (e infatti i flauti di pan in realtà sono due, uno che suona le note pari e l'altro che suona le note dispari).
È emozionante come minimo. Assurdo.

Il film " C'era una volta in America" di S.Leone lo reputo uno dei più grandi capolavori della cinematografia mondiale di sempre. L' ho visto ben 6 volte nella mia vita, perché grazie alla musica di Ennio le scene acquisivano una forza coinvolgente ed emozionante senza pari rendendo tutto molto più bello prendendoti l' anima.
