They're pretty much the OG of French very heavy metal. That having been said they're also extremely intelligent and progressive. Before last year I wasn't familiar with French metal, now I follow a few other bands from there. I owe them that and for the great music. Great reaction too!

@@BarriDuty IMO Hypno5e could blow your mind. Their albums "A Distant Dark Source" and "Acid Mist Tomorrow" are insane, with intricate chaotic riffs and so much details in the writing process of the tracks. Check it, you won't regret it.

Gojira is simple the best, period.
Gojira is such a great band. I love their new stuff, because it's thoughtful and well composed, but their old stuff was fucking brutal. This song comes off of their album The Link, and there's a lot of Morbid Angel and (old) Sepultura influence on it. This is definitely one of the standouts of that era.

Ah, the first time I saw Gojira live was actually that very show in Hellfest ! The pit was not muddy but dirty ahah (the mud was the year after).
If you want some really powerful shows, where the crowd is incredibly involved into the music and especially the lyrics (that you should absolutely read before to see the video or while watching it to truly understand what happens and how important these bands are fr a lot of people), here are two recommandations :
- Modern Life is War with the first song of their October 13, 2013 live (from Hate5six). The song is called "The Outsiders".
- Have Heart with their song "Watch me rise". Maybe from their "last show". Unfortunately there is no version with a really good sound live, but this song is incredible and means so much to so much people. Plus you'll really need the lyrics because Pat lets the crowd sings almost all of it ahah.
Keep on reacting to heavy music. I love Gojira. They are fantastic. That drummer is #1 for me. Super Mario.

I mean, bare in mind that Mario is 19 here. The rest of the band is very young still too. But jesus, being drumgod at 19 must be some crazy talent.
Since this is hellfest 2006, mario would be 25 here (he was born in 1981). Your point still stands though !
