Dansko. I have 15 pair from gorgeous riding boots, to heels, to strappy sandals. They aren’t just nurse clogs, although as a teacher I have plenty of those! I cannot live without them. Fits my arches and has completely healed my plantar fasciitis.

I wear socks to bed every night... even in the summer. I put Eucerin heavy-duty cream on my feet every night. It works wonders. ❤

Hi D interesting vlog as always 😊 I bought lots of tracking shoes even very expensive ones but all made my feet ache and gave me blisteres. That is while on holiday i spotted a Skechers tracking ones. They are as amazing. I used them the first time to go up Snowdonia and by the end of the day my feet were just fine as if i didn't do it😊.
Also for cracked heels just use plain simple vaseline with a pair of socks on top every night. Im 53 so also in menopause 😮

I wear Clarks leather loafers or flats. Can wear 1.5” heels only. Nothing higher. No pointed toes no sneakers.
Broke left leg/ankle 2017. Broke right leg/ankle in half in 2021.
Like Clarks, Aerosole flats, Soft Spot low heels. Easy Spirit sometimes also.
Ankles swell daily. Age 75 with osteoporosis and bones can repeat breaking in future. I am very careful. Walk with a cane.
I live in Colorado mountains. Many broken limbs and rock in walking areas.
So I an out of fashion about the pointed toe issue. As a Senior, I appreciate comfort, safety, support of my ankles at this age.
Can’t wear slides either. Wear Vionic slippers.
In aging, feet dry and cracked are a symptom of kidney issues and diabetes. Some lotions will help. But the core issue is caused with disease.

For dry, cracked heels I use Kerasal Intensive Foot Repair. It's cheaper online than in store. There are similar products too like Flexitol Heel Balm.

The brand On has been fabulous - slip on, light but very well cushioned for walking on cobblestone. I like the Cloud 5, a clean simple style I now have in navy as well as black. I’m eyeing the waterproof ones next.

Comfort has always been the most important thing to me on footwear. I’ve had a dismal success rate over the decades, only ending up wearing about half the shoes I bought. They felt fine when wearing around the house, but worn out in the world, they start hurting somewhere. It’s a great time to buy the mid-heels I always favored, 2 to 2.75 inches high, there have never been so many styles available in this range before. Throughout my corporate career I really struggled, there were only pointed-toe, high, stiletto heels or totally flat shoes available. I don’t feel great in complete flats, I want mid-heels, but high (3 inch and up) heels and pointed toes are impossible. My favorite shoes are Sezane’s Paula Babies Mary Jane style, they’re perfect, comfy, elegant and flattering. Unfortunately, I missed out on the navy pair, which I really need, so I check daily to see if they’ve restocked.

Great recommendations, thank you. Cracked heels... it took a year of twice daily application of Heel Balm to sort my menopausal feet. Now I still apply once a day and my daughter has heel envy... of my heels not my shoes 😂 thank you for the video.

Thank you 💐🌻 love your videos! My favourites are Birkenstock like sandals. Those are cork toe Sandals with blonde brown, v shaped, middle wide straps. Those look a little less like sandals your foot doctor would presribe. Sorry for my bad description, sometimes I just do not know the terminology in English. Hope, you all get what I mean nonetheless 🙂.

I just discovered here in the US a shoe company called Charleston Shoe Co. and their shoes are comfortable, made to be washed, and made of all rubber, but doesn’t look like rubber. Something to check out. They aren’t cheap, but very comfortable. I just bought a pair of wedges, and it comes with instructions on how to wash and wear.
Just received my first pair of vivaia flat pumps …pointed toe with bow in cream and taupe.
Not worn them yet, but know I’m going to love them. I went for my normal size 4 and fit is spot on. I bought them because you spoke about them on a previous video Deirdre. Thank you.

@@sueanneodonnell2658 wore vivaia shoes yesterday for the first time. Very comfortable so far. Mine are cream and taupe so good that they can be washed. Think they might stretch a little in time, but thought I could always put an inner sole in them. Never had half size in my style.

Hi Deirdre, I was very interested in this particular video about footwear as I struggle to find truly comfortable shoes and sandals too. My recommendation is the buttery soft leather sandals by Bellissimo. My feet balloon in hot weather and these are heavenly to wear. Re cracked heels - ever since I’ve been showering daily using l’Occitane almond shower oil (with a ‘massage’ sponge) my feet have been fabulously soft - and everywhere else too 😂. X

Hi Deidre - regarding your cracked heels - I recommend FLEXITOL HEEL BALM. It really works - I have been using it for 15 years and the awful cracks I had have never returned.

Try putting castor oil on then cotton sox before be for cracked heels.
I had the Skechers slipins and after a couple of months the padding in the heel completely wore away. My fave shoes are my Fitflop loafers which are ancient and my Birkenstock Arizonas.
Yes my feet were affected and terribly cracked with menopause until an influencer I think Shea recommended an electric foot scaler from Amazon!! It is fantastic and I no longer have this problem.
As a recovering and older "shoe aholic" most of my shoes sadly do not work for me anymore. I now wear mostly slip on sneakers with an orthotic insert for my daily walks. Skechers and Vionic are two brands that have worked out well, but I am going to treat myself with a pair of the Vivaia. My husband and I are also starting to train for doing El Camino next year and your hiking boots look like something I could use. Great video.

Love your videos, especially your classy style. A comment on the rough heals. I am 60, and I truly think I don’t have hard heals because I never walk barefoot, or wear a lot of open flats, like slides or flip flops. Mainly because it hurts my back a totally flat shoe. I do notice whenever I do wear an open heeled, flat shoe, my heels get harder, and that night after a shower, I will rub some cream on them and make sure the next day I’m wearing a sneaker, or some other closed shoe, after popping a Tylenol for my back that is. lol I have my son’s wedding in another 2wks, and I have open toe heels, and bought some wedge slip on shoes to swap out during the night, but I already know I will be hurting the next day. The price we pay for style. Keep your lovely attitude and style coming. Thank you.
Thank you for your interesting video. I have big a problem with sizing. I have always worn UK size 5, but since most shoe manufacturers now use continental size 38, these do not fit me as they are fractionally shorter heel to toe. Buying online is a problem as shoes must be tried on and sending them back is costly. Maybe I will try the brand you suggest, taking advantage of the discount.
I love Mephisto shoes & sandals for everyday use. They are so comfortable from the first time you put them on and they never need to be broken in like many shoes and sandals. I highly recommend Clarins foot beauty treatment cream for any type of foot dryness. I am amazed at how well it works and don’t like to be without it. I had a corn on the bottom of my foot which was removed and then I started to use the Clarins foot cream daily to ensure that the hardness never returned. It’s worked really well for two years.
Mephisto shoes, etc, do work quite well, especially for challenged feet.

Great video on comfy shoes. My heels used to be really cracked but my podologue has me using AKEILINE foot cream for extremely dry feet. My heels are soft as anything I am 76-

Liked the video a lot. Have troublesome feet...some good brand suggestions. Have had cracked heels for quite some time. Started putting moisturizing lotion on my heels after every shower. My heels are much better now.
When your feet are different sizes as mine are (Left is a 4, Right is a 2.5-3) it really restricts the type of shoes you can wear. My small foot would just slip out of a ballet flat and many slingbacks. However, I do love Moshulu shoes, they have such great colours and all leather. Their deck shoes are my summer favourites, when I'm not wearing my white trainers.

At five foot, 31/2 inches, and approaching 58 years old, I am still wearing heels, but mostly stick to wedges at this point. I’ve worn heels most of my adult life and find that flats are uncomfortable to my calves. This will probably change with time. I have also found that my heels have cracked a lot during menopause. What is with that?
I spend my summers up in the mountains, in my closet is hiking boots. Black cream, brown, and gray. I sometimes wear tennis shoes, but it’s so dirty here. Dirt roads and I walk my dogs all the time. forget wearing sandals unless you want your feet covered with dust.
I am in complete agreement with those hiking boots! They are a godsend! Mine came from L. L. Bean, are leather and heavily padded as yours are- they are wonderfully stable for my 72 year old ankles and certainly allow me those rejuvenating jaunts into the mountains with my dogs! BTW- I’d like to experience some fat pad atrophy elsewhere on my body. Great video!

I love sling backs as I’m clumsy and trip a lot (dyspraxia)! They feel more secure. I’ve had some nasty falls while wearing flip flops or slides. If I do wear these they must have structure and be snug on my foot. Poor me! 😂
I have had multiple knee surgeries and I stand all day for my work and the only shoes that work for me are FitFlop. If I don’t wear these then my knees ache all night.
i have dry cracked feet too...i'm 53 ;) i wear oofos shoes instead of sneakers...i've found that most sneakers are about 1/4 inch too short for me...8 is slightly too short and 8 1/2 too big...i have wide feet so i only look at shoes in wide width...i've found some nice ones via Journee

I have loved your fashion advice, Deirdre but I'm going to have to take exception when it comes to the Vivaia shoes. I bought a pair for travel and sadly they were so painfully uncomfortable that I had to stop into a shoe store while wearing them and buy another pair of shoes. Maybe fine for a short stroll but definitely not good for a long day of sightseeing.

@@50FabulouswithMyFriendDeirdre It was a low block heel pump. I think it's the plastic material that made it so uncomfortable--it just doesn't conform to the foot.
I've had great success with Eileen Fisher shoes, and for a splurge the Arche shoes are heavenly.

How are the Vivia shoes in terms of arch support? I have bunions, a narrow heel, and a wide toe box, but I also need good arch support, otherwise, I’ll end up with plantar fasciitis, a terrible heel pain 😢.
Try Calla shoes. They're out of the UK, but ship to the US, etc.

Your walks are much more important than going to the gym. Walking daily and briskly for 30-60 minutes is all one needs to maintain fitness and a healthy weight. It’s good to do some weight training, too, but there isn’t a gym around where I live that has parking, or is within walking distance, so I don’t sweat it!

strength training and walking are essential for maintaining mobility as we age
Try putting a thick layer of organic castor oil on your feet and wear sox overnight. You will be surprised how this will soften your feet and help them become so much smoother.

Hello Deirdre, so do enjoy your videos. At 72 my feet are in good shape, not overly dry or cracked skin. You may try adding some weekly olive oil to your diet, could do the trick and isn't harmful. ;)
I cannot wear sling back shoes,
My husband always said 'Comfort before style.' I would say 'Rubbish.' Now at 77 I agree with him.
So, we lose fat from our feet and put it on everywhere else. Oh Joy!

“Pointed toe” and “comfortable” and “block heel” are mutually exclusive. You’re obviously getting paid for pushing those.
