- It's finallly been a year since i got my vertical labret pierced, so here are the pros and cons i've personally experienced. Overall it's an amazing piercing and I highly recommend it, despite the cons. And if you decide to get your lip pierced, I hope you have a positive experience as well!

I just got mine done today and Iâm so surprised how painless it is afterwards!! The jewellery they put in after piercing is way too long for my lips so it looks a bit silly for now but I looooove it!!

sameee they put a longer bar for swelling and my lip hardly swelled at all or not at all. i canât wait to be able to change it to a smaller one because the balls on this length makes me hate my face lmao. (i already have a lot going on: septum, nostril , medusa, smiley) sođđđ

I got mine done 5 days ago. The initial pierce hurt and like 10 minutes after, but even like 1 hour later it completely stopped hurting, it just started hurting but only because my lips are chapped, and the skin around it is getting caught on the bar. But I love it so much

@@jessicacarter2880 I know I'm not the op but I got mine done a few hours ago and so far so good. It didn't hurt as much as I thought but I def.flinched lol. Afterwords it feels more like you got smacked on your lips haha. I can drink and eat and talk and smile without it hurting more than a dull ache :) I have quite a high pain tolerance (tattoos on my fingers, knees etc doesn't rly hurt) tho

I love this piercing. Iâve been considering for a few years get it done but i wasnât sure because my lips arenât very thick, but yeah, like you said i can always get a shorter barbell! I donât know why I wasted so much time over thinking this. Lol

I got mine a few months ago, and most of what you said is also true for me. It stopped hurting the first few hours and healed quick. It didnât hurt during the piercing either but thatâs just me. It looks super good on you!

i'm screaming! i did not end up getting it a couple of years ago because i did not have the guts to get such a visible piercing and because i thought my lip would be too small. i have changed a lot since then, gotten a lot more confident and comfortable in my skin. last week i made an appointment to get this piercing during the christmas break so i'll have time to deal with the swelling and figure out how to eat at home and not have to do that at school. now i'm on youtube watching videos about vertical labrets to tide me over because i am so excited! finding this comment from 2 years ago is crazy oh my god. just wow. i really have been thinking about it for a long time. so happy that i'm finally getting it!
I got the piercing two weeks ago :) just had the bar downsized and what a relief. ngl it is a big adjustment for me learning to live with this piercing. the downsize helped so much, it sits differently bc of the shorter bar so it doesn't get in the way as much now. I love how it looks on me and I plan to keep it for a very long time!

I have been thinking about getting mine done so I have been doing research on what to expect. I know itâs different for everyone but considering I am still pretty young and in school I am not sure what to do. I have always been in love with lip piercings and I am excited I may finally get one but also pretty nervous. This video did give me some encouragement so we will see.

Yes, since I am so young I can not truly decide what I can and can not do so I must have a parent or guardian sign off on it but as long as that happens I should be good. I will update if I do end up getting it done!

I saw someone put a dainty chain on their VL and that's what made me want it in the first place. I asked my piercer if they could get me one too and they said after 3 months they could put a chain there so I'm going to get the vertical pierced in about a month :)

Coming from someone with fairly thin lips, honestly I think getting my vertical labret piercing made my lips look way fuller

congrats!! it took about 3 months to fully heal but after only 2 weeks, it wasnât sore anymore :)

I totally feel you, a scar is inevitable unfortunately :( but maybe if you get pierced with a thinner jewelry (like an 18g) you wonât have a scar thatâs too visible

Got my vertical labret done because I had an ashley and i really don't want to screw up my teeth. It was the most painful lip piercing I've had so far and I've had spider bites, snake bites, a Monroe, ashley, tongue, nose, eyebrow, belly button and forward helixs. I hate how long the barbell is because its irritating my chin. I know the jewelry will be changed but I just can't stand it. Im not swollen ( I rarely swell) and I want to change it soooo bad.
I got mine done today and it hurt way worse than I thought but it's very beautiful

After 2 weeks you can get your piercer to change it to a smaller one :) and i changed it by myself after 3 months! x

I got mine today, it looks slightly crooked, one piercing shop said it was crooked but the other says itâs fine... idk if itâs swollen . Probably going to wait another week and see how the swelling goes down.

i was really afraid as well.. and if you look closely, mine is slightly off center but you really get used to it! i dont even notice it anymore. but do take the time with your piercer to make sure its placed in the center. And remember that its not permanent, if you dont like it you can always take it off. I wish you all the best and i hope it goes well! đ

I really want a lip piercing but didnât know which one to get, but this one looks so nice and I like that it does not cause damage to the gums or teeth. However, my parents are very religious (especially my dad) & whenever I mention I want to get a lip piercing he always gives me a lecture and tells me that heâd stop talking to me đč I kind of convinced my mom on letting me get one. I want to be a teacher one day and I know I wouldnât be able to have any type of face piercing. Im just scared of what my dad might do tbh đȘ
I totally understand how you feel. It's really not easy when parents are against it. It has definitely cost me when it comes to my relationship with my dad... But we came to some kind of compromise where i remove all my piercings when I see him. In my latest video about the vertical labret, I show how i hide it. Maybe that can help you if you decide to get one? I hope it works out for you! big hugs đ
So glad you did this video! Itâs such a struggle taking mine out and putting it back too and I thought it was just me because my lips are quite thick! Nope turns out this piercing just sucks for that đ I canât imagine the difficulty of taking it out and putting it back so your parents donât see, Iâve only had to take it out twice: once for dental x-rays and that was less than 5 minutes it still hurt getting it back in, and the second was when I was working at an Ed Sheeran concert, security staff werenât allowed piercings for those shows. Very unusual though Iâve done this job for 3 years and never been told to take them out before but it was SO FREAKING PAINFUL putting it back after a 12 hour shift - I donât recommend đ do you have any plans for new piercings when weâre able to get them again? Tea With Romy OMG it was so frustrating and painful, I wish I knew there was a clear option back then I definitely would have invested in one, but it was kind of worth it for the shift I was backstage in a cool spot and got closer to the acts than most staff, kind of greeting them when they came in the secret back entrance so lots of fun and very rewarding (maybe my spot was why no piercings were allowed for me, too fancy for it I guess đ) I miss my job so much I canât wait for big gatherings to be back itâs a job I highly recommend, I literally have crippling anxiety so I took the job because it gives me no choice but to face my fears and to get confidence đOoh amazing choice, I bet that will look great and a lot of people have said the navel isnât as painful and some of the facial ones! The medusa looks great on others definitely but Iâm a little terrified of it being done slightly off centre or too high or low and it worries me that Iâd hate it if it was, but I never even thought about it with my vertical labret I just trusted it would go right đ always the best speaking to you, sorry for always blabbing so muchđ I hope quarantine is getting easier to deal with every day for you and life brings you lots of reasons to smile this week đ„ł ps wonderful new photo youâre so so pretty and always take amazing shots! đ

I can imagine if that was sore it would be a pain for catching on clothes and things all the time đ thatâs cool you definitely should, or you should treat yourself to something nice to pat yourself on the back for getting through quarantine! Itâs so great that things are getting back to normal there super excited to see all the things you get up to when things unlock even more! Things are easing here but the things I want to ease havent, I just want to be able to take my driving lessons and visit my best friend 60 miles away, but weâre not allowed to meet someone indoors so itâs hard to do in a round trip.. yet soon Iâll be able to go clothes shopping when they reopen surrounded by hundreds of other people indoors...so annoying! Iâd say go for it! i think the scarring will be very minimal with this piercing, since the lips heal very quickly đ
Hi! Thanks for your video. I am hesitating about getting a vertical labret.. I saw videos of people saying they have trouble with eating, drinking and kissing.. and that their lips are more dry..
Heyy my first yt video actually shows the healing process! My lips were crazy dry in the first week but itâs manageable, eating was weird just for the first 4 days and drinking was easy with a straw :) full-on kissing is a no go for the first weeks though (at least the first 2 weeks iâd say!). Maybe little pecks are okay though? Haha

Hey I wanted to mention that ocd is actually a debilitating mental illness which has a wide variety of symptoms not just liking things to be symmetrical . This is very unknown in general society sadly, but I recommend reading up about it

Unfortunately this is an inevitable step of the healing process.. :( but you can put lip balm or coconut oil on your lips and avoid the pierced area to relive the dryness
im getting it done in 3 hours and u made me even more confident to get it, of course im nervous but im excited!! i got my nipples pierced and that felt like a ear piercing lol

its really not that bad compared to septum & nipple! i also had my nipple (not anymore though) and iâd say the pain level for all 3 is similar :) around 6/10
Iâve had mine done Thursday. It was just a sharp poke, but nothing painful. But the healing sucks. It sucks. Thatâs where the pain comes in lol...

How do you put on lipbalm with that type of piercing? is there a high risk of infection if you do?

I got my vertical labret yesterday and the bottom was pierced too low unfortunately and I'm pretty upset. I'm thinking of taking it out before it leaves a visible scar, wait for it to heal and repierce it but I'm not sure yet. In overall I really like it
Hi :) Itâs really up to you, have you spoken with your piercer about it? Because i heard youâre not supposed to re-pierce where a piercing was done, so you could ask them just to make sure its actually possible to re-pierce it đđ»
