About me - I'm Claire and I live in the UK. My taste in perfumes is usually quite sweet but not too sweet, I love white florals but not tuberose so much. I like gourmands as long as they smell like perfumes still, I require my perfumes to change a little bit as I wear them ie not linear. I don't enjoy oud, leather, cumin, saffron or strong patchouli however there can be occasions where I do like perfumes with these notes if they are not too dominant. I enjoy most florals as long as they are backed up with something sweet or perhaps resins / insense. I tend to not enjoy anything very soapy. I also don't really enjoy very green fragrances. I am averse to overdoses of ambroxan and iso E super (timbersilk or similar) just because I find it annoying! I have no problem with synthetics in perfumery but I do enjoy perfumes that have some notes that at least smell like they could be from nature. My favourite type of perfumery is indie and I love Francesca Bianchi, Teone Reinthal, 4160 Tuesdays and Papillon Artisan Perfumes.

Adverts - I know they are annoying but they earn me a few pennies from the Adsense which I put back into buying perfumes to talk about on this channel.
I remember all men's fragrances in the 70s were splash bottles and I hated it! I couldn't understand why women's fragrances had atomizers and men's didn't. I don't know anything about vintage perfume. Very sorry to hear this one disappointed you...it's an EDC so perhaps there wasn't a lot of perfume oil to begin with? Thanks for sharing, Claire!
Thanks Jimbo, yeah splash bottles are poo.
I haven't had a chance to try vintage Chanel No.22 but so far I've preferred some modern Chanel EDPs over the vintage versions (eg. No.19). I think the aging has thrown the balance off certain vintage juices. Totally can relate with you.
I’m just so curious to try the old stuff, it feels like being able to transport back in time.
I'm going to need a database on how to accurately identify authentic Chanels. I feel like there is some info out there, but not so comprehensive. I like 22! More so than No. 5 at the moment but I'm enjoying No. 5 lately.
I didn’t think I like No 5 much but recently got some vintage pure parfum that I really enjoy.
Welcome to the vintage rabbit hole m8 😂 🐇🕳
😂 it’s a rocky ride!

Have you tried raiders of the lost scent for dating your vintages?
Yes and also Cleopatras boudoir - but haven’t checked this bottle yet

Claire I’ve an old No22 edt Les exclusifs if you wanna try that ?
Peter Id love to if you don’t mind sparing a drop? Thanks 🙏🏻
I got the EDT version recently. I don't know what to make of it. It didn't blow my mind.
Does it compare to the current EDP?
@@Smurfygurly never smelled the EDP.
Sorry to hear you’re disappointed with this one. It’s a minefield with the vintages for sure!
Yes I’m seeing that now!
I think before the 1970s the terms eau de toilette and eau de parfum were not in use so if it's a 60s bottle Eau de Cologne doesn't mean what it does now ie a low strength concentration. There was a defunct name of 'parfum de toilette' in use too. Raiders of the Lost Scent helpfully says 'Chanel is one of the most difficult perfume houses to understand when dating a perfume' in their piece on Chanel batch codes which use 00-99 for the months in order then start all over again! Nightmare. The box looks very like my late 1970s No.19 (also a splash which also dates it to 60s-70s). I can't see why anyone would fill an old bottle with something else - there just wouldn't be any old fragrance vibe at all.
I’d love to try it. Have you tried 1957?
Yes but only in shops so not enough to form an opinion
