This March 1978 episode of the syndicated version of the Joker's Wild features one of the most eccentric and exited contestants in the show's history, Phil Gilbert, who is playing for his fifth win and the brand new car. Will Phil win or finally be subdued? - Zábava
Phil was also on *"The New $25,000 Pyramid"* as a contestant! He won $10,000 with RDA in early '84! Saw him in an opening flashback clip.
I remember Quiozel products being prominent about a decade later as a parting gift on the Ray Toast run of Family Food.
😂😂😂
Loved this show!
That is one of the most happiest construction workers I’ve ever seen
"Jack-barry didn't know that he has gene-rayburn's microphone".
The Jokers wild was my favorite game show that I used to watch at my bedtime which was 9pm on weeknights on a school night and headed to bed at 9:30 pm. This was my extended period of tv show time.
Did you by any chance grow up somewhere around St. Louis? As I recall, that was when KPLR, channel 11, aired it. Me, I grew up in the sticks of south-central Missouri, and as such, our TV stations came out of Springfield, MO, but occasionally, we could pick up channel 11 if conditions were just right.
They had some geeks for contestants on this show.
"The kaufman-astoria studios stage-c the joker's wild stage-d tic tac dough & stage-j sesame-street" circa march 28,1979.
These are my favorite moments from TJW, when the challenger reaches $500, and the champ has his work cut out for him. The most likely result, Jack saying "Nope, it's all over, we have a new Champion" as soon as a category pops up in the first window. But instead, we get "Joker, Joker, JOKER!"
I would love to see the episodes with Bill Womplin again. Now he was a character. I had those episodes, then like an idiot, I accidentally taped over them.
I would love to see the children's episode when the boy said "The Queen of Hearts" instead of the wicked queen.
No one was ever that excited to win a Chevette, EVER!!
He'd be excited to win 5 cents
He was not quiet, because Phil Gilbert won, alot of big money.
"The joker's wild recorded on stage-c @ the kaufman-astoria studios in millerville-city luzerne-county ioml".
"The joker's wild live from the abandoned acme-market on route-61 in shamokin land of messopotamia northumberland-county ioml"
" Phil-gilbert makes elmo from sesame-street look like a saint".
Only other time I've seen three Jokers come up on the final spin was with Hal Shear..
Could you imagine this dude on "Press Your Luck"?
kgrkid $80,000! Oh wait, that was Gene Snyder.
Also can you this dude on Card Sharks?
I think all the cable services did a sneak peek tv to add an additional channel to their lineup. It was either Cartoon Network. GSN, FX, GoodLife TV, Hallmark Channel, and others. I like Cartoon Network but I ended up voting for GSN instead. Comcast in my area picked up GSN.
He looks like that guy from the first Dirty Harry movie
"My fantasy the invisible-troupe my cousin greg-winslow & myself @ home inside the abandoned acme-market on route-61 in shamokin land of messopotamia northumberland-county ioml".
I believe WMAR channel 2 and WTVD channel 11 aired TJW! I'm thinking so did WRC-4.
Looking for my mom’s episodes. Her name was Linda Peroutka. Dates in early 1973, I think.
I was never a fan of Joker's Wild. The show is so fixed and this episode is proof of it.
How is it fixed?
It's not fixed, dumbass! Standards & Practices
No game show is fixed. The quiz show scandals of the 50s made it illegal.
he did appear on tic tac dough
Wonder what ever became of this guy. Hope he comments here someday.
When did the show start using The prize cue swing composed by Hal Hyde the same cue that used on Tic Tac dough with Wink Martin dale 727 genius
20:16
Finally, the music is fitting!!
@tvtimetravel I call it the Goofy Win theme! I would do my Russian dance, kick my heels & shout HEY!
That clown clip on Seasme Street is on CZcams.
I drove a "VETTE" back in the day...CHEV ette!
Hey. Was there something that was edited?
Before Hal Shear's lucky suit, there was this three-joker moment!
i remember phil being on tic tac dough in 1979
What happened did he win anything
Or even "Wheel of Fortune"...
His laugh reminds me of Elmo
LOL
The guy is creepy
More of a hyena
one of the most fixed game shows in history, right behind Press Your Luck
It wasn't fixed and neither was Press Your Luck, stupid! Google Standards & Practices, idiot!
There are no fixed game shows.
@@GamingDelight except Manhunt
@@witherblaze
And you wonder why that crappy reality show was cancelled after only six episodes.
@@GamingDelight No duh
I would like to see all the episodes of Phill Gilbert of winning the champion on The Jokes Wild 1978.
That music used when Phil won his fifth game (which I'm sure was used when anyone won a car in the first syndicated season) was used when anyone won the Joker's Jackpot on the CBS version.
How long was this guy on before Hal Shear? Does anyone have any eps with Mark Gluckman from 1977? Did any other statrions inGeorgia besides WSB Channel 2 show this game? Awesome find!
WAGT (then WATU) carried Joker (and Tic-Tac-Dough) in Augusta...
what he need a wizard
Phil's energy and spryness pales in comparison to Randy Amasia!
"Boy am i glad phil-gilbert said joker's not smoker's smoking that's a filthy filthy-habit"
the joker.s wild.
They still played the Joker's Jackpot win cue for a car win that time. It reminds me of an old film from Sesame Street counting "Ten Clowns".
He must had too much caffeine
The Joker's Wild certainly had a made it a practice to here and there have contestants on the show. In fact, I think it started the first week of the CBS version.
Seeing Chuck Berry's shock when Phil Gillfart spins three Jokers was priceless.
newl0bstr Wrong one. That's Jack Barry not Chuck Berry. Though I would like to see Chuck Berry's face when he watched this too 😜😁
Phil Gilbert would reappear on "Scrabble" some 11 years later.
Daniel Lewis what happened
@@Scottwilkie18 He won about $3,000 over the space of two episodes.
jack barry hosts and jay stewart announces.
THere's a Phil Gilbert on SCR-28-29(the second episode of the duo at around the 22 minute mark) of Scrabble from April 1989 or so posted at CHristopher Ryan's CZcams page. I think it might be the same guy.
Zach Horan This was (and is) the same fella.
Too much caffeine
I never like those Fast Forward categories. I always hoped the contestant would miss the first question so we didn't have to go through the ordeal of watching them answer three or four questions just to miss one simply because they never knew when to stop. I remember one woman once kept taking the joker off the board answering $50 questions just to keep missing after several correct answers. Cheap show since you didn't have to play the bonus round so much time was eaten up with fast forward. I hope Snoop Dogg doesn't bring that part of the show back.
he wins a Chevrolet Chevette??!!! seriously? I'd take it home n sell it.. or trade it in pos
Are these contestants real?
RRRRRiiiiiiggggggged!
Wrong!
I'm glad Barry & Enright eventually hired Hal Hidey so they could get rid of this clownish "win" music.
It is called Mardi Gras by Henrik Nielsen, and was actual meant to convey a raucous Mardi Gras celebration.
This was actually the first clownish car win music from the 1972-1974 days. They used another goofy tune later on in the CBS run. Wonder why they went back to this one?
It's a carryover/leftover from the original CBS run from 1972-1975.
@@davidjackino8831 Maybe a young child who loved "Sesame Street" stumbled on the "10 clowns" scene and asked the people of "The Joker's Wild" to bring it back.
I want to punch Phil Gilbert!
Me too
Yes ace is a god
For what, being himself? Fuck off, bitch!
That was a shitty car.
Rigged and this guy's laugh is annoying as hell.
Absolutely rigged.
Absolutely NOT rigged! Standards & Practices
This game is so rigged.
It actually wasn't, moron
Nothing is.
