This is the music that Franco had to compose for the dictator Mobutu inorder for him to be allowed back in Zaire.
      May Mobutu rest in Hell.
He killed Patrice Lumumba because of greed for wealth.

Franco luambo was forced by Mobutu to sing this praise song. Mobutu was very happy, invited him to the palace and made him free. Even after Franco's death Mobutu announces 4 days of national mourning.
This song could fit a person like Mandela or Nyerere.

But today, over 35 years after, the people of themselves can tell themselves if there have been days in Zaire(now Congo DR) that compare to the beautiful old days of Mobutu Sese Seko. RIP Papa!

This music by a legend like Franco proved the nightmare musicians and artist across Africa faced during the dark ages of the cold war when all sorts of dictators hold firm across African. It must be harrowing for Franco and the OK Jazz having to sing praises to a monster and a killer like Mobutu in order to be free from going and rotting in jail if they fail to do so. Some artists have no choice then than to sang praises of this dictators in order just to eat (poverty) as Western Record Companies render them financially impotent and to become beggers.

Actually this was the most satirical of François songs. He used this song to mock mobutu to his face and call out to people. He outlined the unholy methods mobutu used to win power. Using the army, propaganda, local authorities and not helping the citizens. All that is in the lyrics. Read carefully. tells the people that shouting mobutus name will cost them nothing but they must look at themselves in the eye after voting him. He then throws in a few sweet lines to make mobutu nod. Franco is genius.

Thanks Ambrose. I had always wondered what would that song be saying and was waiting for the translation for a long time.
Luambo did a great job putting the song together. As a musician he really did a great job, But I completely disagree with him on who and how Mobutu had been. Luckily God took him away and hope all the corrupt leaders face the same fate as him. In fact Africa is still back because of bad leaders and politicians like Mobutu who did not only lead their people to poverty, but all sorts of corruption,

If Franco had a way of deleting ths song forever it wud have been his last wish bfo death. Unftunately it became a sensational. Long story short, Franco did not want to do ths song, he did it at gun point for the ruthless emperor, Mobutu who later allowed his(Franco) release frm prison.
So many compositions were done for Sseko and they were done on all National holidays as national songs.
Unftunately he (Sseko) ended up dying like a frog and was buried like a dog in Morocco.
The effects of his poor leadership(courtesy of the West) are chewing Congo to date.
