- I have an appointment this morning with syngenta to determine if this is chemical or something else. to be honest I have no clue. the fertilizer is on the ground the PH is good the moisture is good. so its something but we should get to the bottom of it soon enough.

You always bring something unique to the table, can't get enough!
Beautiful view corn is looking good
check for soil compaction on your field with the yellow spots.. i have a field that was beans last year and planted to corn this year was VT 2x 1st pass it was a bit on the sticky side... the whole field is yellow and stunted plus it dont help that we have had 14 or more inch of rain since it was planted here in Wisconsin... its my only filed that that the whole field is yellow short corn... so iam thinking its form working the ground when too wet and the pounding rain we have had
I’ve never seen wildlife damage in tobacco until two years ago.
A pair of geese built a nest on the little pond by the field. The half dozen rows closest to the pond had random plants plucked from the ground for about 50 feet, in TOBACCO! A totally inedible, unpalatable plant for the deer & geese. In the area where you did your NC straw job.
Looks like you need to put the chisel plow to get moisture down deep and help soften the ground up this fall after harvest.
My "chart of regen ag tricks: I keep adding to shows that thistle is evidence of compaction and fixes are calcium (which you've added) plus Buckwheat, Daikon/tillage radishes, Barley, and chickory. Chickory was always a weed here so I don't use that. Barley could be subbed by more effective Rye I would expect. Buckwheat and tillage radish mix are great to use for a lot of reasons and if they fix this then a bonus. Broadcasting buckwheat and radish seeds now after the corn is established won't outrun the corn (I planted corn once and immediately broadcast the magic pair and the corn struggled because the other two were getting tall faster.
Theresa is a rare woman Wes, good people. Unsure as to what your corn issue is, I'd suggest a bit different crop rotation? Lintels perhaps? The problem with farming is, we have so many variables to contend with, weather, temperature, seed quality, ground quality, ground conditions, bugs, weeds, etc. I feel your pain. Great video as always, cheers :)
Grow milo wes. The Deere won’t mess with it its drought tolerant and will build organic matter like corn. U can get decent yields if it rains and u take care of it.
You have a cryonic cough like me! I feel your pain.
Great video
Can you take some arial shots with your drone of these weird corn fields wesley?
Maybe there is a pattern in the areas of corn that aren’t doing so good...
If so, it may give you a clue as to whats wrong.
Where the cropping looks yellow take a1/4 rote and check compaction compared to green areas
You only get one chance to put that seed in the ground on those short perfect weather windows. Improve your 24 row planter so there are no doubt that it is doing the best job it can.
😊you were talking a bout rain tonight ... im thinking noooo , i got hay on the ground ! Glad you made the video ta few days ago
Wes, I sure hope you find the cause of the issues with the corn. This could have been a good year.
Thanks ! 👍👍😊😊
Good content. 👍
Good lookin corn Lonely!
Good video.
7000 planters rule, but wouldn't be surprised the deer are your culprit. I've also had problems with cranes. They walk down the row and polk their beak right in the ground to eat the seed.
Lots of flooded out corn here in Minnesota and Iowa, I'd think that prices would start to go up but down below $4.00 today.
I have used ESN before and was not happy. It is a good concept but not as good as a couple shots of urea or even better ammonium nitrate. I will never use ESN again after a nearly failed corn crop. I would at least spread your max CEC total in a couple shots of urea or ammonium nitrate. Good Luck
Looks much better Wes, Real_cattle_queen_ was right with chem damage. She’s sharp as a tack. Corn looking good, we were very worried for you.
I was told not to use Ammonium sulphate as it's hard on my soils especially Ph, though it does get rid of ticks. Red striping in my vineyard is mostly fixed with mg.
I’m just guessing Wes,,,,, those look like skips from the planter coming out of the ground. Downpressure may not be workin like it should.
Try some conventional tillage next year, keep a record of the costs and compare to the regenerative. Personally not a fan of regen, I think it’s a bit of a scam. Helps prices tho as it reduces yeild. Although your corn looks great compared to the stuff around here (north England). We’ve had really cold weather and it’s gone yellow, looks terrible
England and corn don't sound good 😂, corn like moisture and Heat
@@11T872 we actually call it maize, corn means cereals over here 😂. There is actually a lot of maize grown, it’s fine in the south on good ground, generally needs plastic in the north although newer varieties are better now assuming we get a normal summer. Very cold this year 🥶
@@matthewshaw3718 i follow some England farmers, he using corn for silage, every time corn look small and yellow, probably nights are cold.
@@11T872 almost all the corn here is for silage. A very small amount in the south gets combined for grain
@@11T872 current daytime temp here is 60 and dropping to 50 at night
👍👍
Wes the corn here in Mechanicsburg and Carlisle is 2-3 ft tall.
I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago i remember as a kid the sky being blue and few clouds especially this time of year. This year has been cloudy and hazy honestly what ever it is giving me headaches.
I fall rip 30” to 36” deep every fall
36 inches deep is solid rock here
Nice video, don't worry, your corn just have growing pains
I think you need row cleaners for the 7200. thats the only difference between the 7000 and the 7200, right?
The damage from deer is amazing. Seen it my whole life and in different states
2nd year corn? That's always a bitch especially when your dealing cold wet.
I call it the ugly corn phase, in some years when cooler temps with moisture and if your short on one nutrient it really can show. You will not notice it on bean ground just coc.
My only rec would be to do 1-acre grids. You might be surprised how variable your soil is. The other thing with minimum till fields is nutrient stratification.
If it was corn last year which I believe you said it was then no herbicide from last year would damage this year's crop.
Give it time and ck back with it in a week. You might be surprised.
Wes, what do you suggest the flooded midwest do? Replant with soybeans? Or call it a loss. It’s still raining here in the Ia, SD, MN. AREA
What is that soil? No chernozem at all?? In 1942 while passing trough the Ukraine where black soil can be found more that 10 ft. deep, the Nazis started transporting it back to Germany by the train load! Not a pre planned event, they recognized that soil was just like gold. It is a soil essential for speedy and successful plant germination.
Could it be å miss on the planter’s fertilizer system?
👍🏻🍻
Wes need your opinion. I have grass hay fields that are wearing out. My thoughts are to heavy harrow it seed winter tricktacaly first of September with grass and fertilizer. Harrow in and roll. I don't have equipment like you woring with what I have. Respect your opinion. I know you're in a different area but you are up on things way better then I am. Thanks any help would be appreciated.
I love your videos Wes but it is pronounced Lancaster, not Lan-caster. I cringe whenever I hear that. It is dry here in Southern Pennsylvania. The rest of the state has been getting rain.
i have had corvus do that and the corn came out 3 weeks later
Man $4 corn
Definitely herbicide damage
Wes, this is off subject but I'd like to ask why most farmers seem to prefer Ford trucks ?
Ill get it out of the way... Because we're dumb....there...
Hi folks! Comment
i thought those bronco's go for alot of money.

Yeah looks like atrazine damage. Or shitty genetics. I see that same type of thing if I’ve sprayed starane and atrazine.
Could it be down pressure or lack there of on the big planter?
Grow milo wes. The Deere won’t mess with it its drought tolerant and will build organic matter like corn. U can get decent yields if it rains and u take care of it.
