- Russia has vowed to retaliate after it says Ukrainian strikes have killed 14, including two children, in the border city of Belgorod.
If confirmed, it would be one of the deadliest strikes on Russia during the war so far - after nearly two years of fighting.
It comes hours after Russian strikes on a number of cities across Ukraine which killed 39 people, in what was described by Kyiv as Russia's biggest missile bombardment of the war so far.

This is really bad. Two children died in Belgorod and 17 wounded. No matter who "started it" - this children do not deserved it. What worst - It would not "scare" russians, if anything - it would piss them. If now on mass - they want the end of the war, and do not support it, after such attacks they could fell that this war is personal for them, and get involved in it. It will lead only to more casulties on both sides...
If Russia care about their children they should just withdraw all the troops from Ukraine and the borders will look the same as in 2013.
There are many military warehouses in Belgorod. They were the target and were burning after the attack. The Russians could have built up their Belgorod themselves, due to the fact that they have outdated equipment.

The most glaring flaw in the international law of war is a lack of reciprocity. It cannot be in war that one side gains advantage by attacking civilians and then gains sanctuary hiding behind its own civilians, as in Gaza. It cannot be that one side gains advantage by attacking civilians and then when the other side tries to impose cost in kind, that victimized side is the war criminal. We incentivize and advantage monsters with this omission.

Ukraine sent drones to various military targets in Russia & Russian air defence shot some of them down. This is a Russian air defence missile in this story not a Ukraine missile nor one supplied by the west. Would the Russians really admit that it was one of their own missiles when they are the greatest & can do nothing wrong & there is an opportunity to blame Ukraine?
