I really liked the lady that had natural hair... She kept it real! I am a plus size, I went from a size 10 to about 14 and there were all kinds of backlash and now, I am back to 12 and I really don't care what anyone says anymore (I am working on it sha cause I want to). Wosilat is beautiful by the way

I think body image is two fold societies perception and your perception of your self, when you dont conform to the traditional standards of beauty wheater it is in size or I beauty it takes additional work to come to a place of comfort. Im happy to be alive at a time when the society as a whole is becoming more aware of the ideal standards of beauty and its effects on the marginalized. However, I think there is still a lot that needs to be changed to make things more inclusive. Self-love is definitely a process and what has helped me in my journey isnt the simple realization that no one is perfect we are all flawed you may just be able to see mine readily ( if you consider being over weight a flaw) our imperfections is what makes us unique and I think perfect.

    Thank you for this topic
Me myself I get very upset when someone calls me “FAT” but of late I come to relaxation that if I don’t like the weight then I should lose it and if I am okay with it then I should learn to love myself and even thou it sounds cliché but we should learn to LOVE OURSELVES the way we are and if you don’t like it do something about it

Women should not put too much pressure on themselves to fit into the “society ideal body”. Trends are constantly changing, we should do what makes us the most comfortable. We should not shame each other’s body and we shouldn’t let magazine tell us what we should look like. Also know that the standards we are comparing ourselves to isn’t real. The women in magazines and Instagram don’t even look like that. All na packaging and photoshop. The best we can do for ourselves is to love and accept our body!

I like the girl who said honesty. honesty is goal. if you want to change your body change it but don't come here and say you were not influenced by an outside factor. I rest my case.

  •  Před 5 lety

I think the reason why it is important when you have had work done to be open about it is for the younger generation who are looking up to you. People kill themselves not eating trying to look like someone who had surgery and stuff. The worst thing nowadays because of social media influence now some of these so called influencers or celebrities do the work/surgery and then are approached by huge companies so they can say you see I lost weight because of this particular tea or supplement....you see my skin I use this product to get this skin in the meantime someone is getting glutathione injections etc but you are telling us your skin is the way it is because of Garnier for example and the funny thing is if you follow then long enough these skincare routines keep changing first it was Garnier, now it's Lancome and tomorrow it's Elizabeth Arden in a few months it has changed so which one is which? That is why it is important to let the younger ones know so they won't kill themselves trying to look like you. Be honest, be transparent because influence comes with a whole lot of responsibility and one of them is you are automatically a role model to the young and upcoming

Hypocrisy at it's highest form, most men don't mind fat or skinny. The problem we have now is health, a fat woman is more likely to suffer health problems than any other size, the generations before us don't encounter this in fact the value fatter women. You talk about body positivity but don't address the issues that come with it. The younger me and like most men out there wouldn't mind a fatter woman but we have to realistic women of all sizes have health problems talkless of a woman that is overweight we have a pharmacy in house, women are more than men in their customer base. What is funny is these fat women want men that have worked hard to stay trim and buff denial and realist don't match. Most young Women put more focus on looks and other Vein things, boys grow up to learn these things because the observe the girls do these. Their mothers maybe fat but what society (women) put value on what is trending. Most men in the society have not changed (not a fatherless society ) the real question is "what do women focus on? " Beyonce, Rihanna, Nikki minaj, Kim Kardashian most especially. But men are always to be blamed for choices women make. If any of the panelists ever did NYSC you'll notice marriage in grassroots is mostly not on the western ideals you guys cherish alot but on character.
