For flight capture I use 4 Hero 8's - and the NFlightcam audio cable... until recently -- now I record all my audio on my Lightspeed Delta Zulu headset which is great - the app records and pushes it to the cloud, and I sync in post. No more audio cable hanging around, or getting disconnected in flight. I also finally started using GoPro labs to sync and configure the GoPros to start automatically based on my speed which saves my outside cameras from wasting battery during taxi/runup. Highly recommend GoPro Labs!
Thanks for sharing bud. I never edit my audio but may start now. I use a dictaphone to record in-flight on my paramotor and just normal camera audio on everything else.
I capture audio in my airplane via a separate audio recorder that cost about $40 brand new. The main reason is that the battery life on the audio recorder is kinda ridiculous. Since I put in a new pair of AAA batteries, I've recorded roughly 14 hours of audio and the batteries are still at 80%. The batteries in my cameras last less than one flight. I do plug in external batteries to the cameras but even then, sometimes cameras just stop working. And if I want external battery power *AND* audio, I have to buy some expensive dongle. Then, if the camera that I'm recording audio into happens to be the one that decides to stop, I'm going to lose all cockpit audio even though the rest of my cameras are still working. The only times I've had problems with the audio recorder is when I've forgotten to start it. Here's what I do to get it to sound acceptable: I plug the following into a spare headset jack in the backseat: 1/4" -> 3.5mm adapter 3.5mm -> 3.5mm 30db attenuating cable Sony Audio Recorder Then I start up my cameras and audio recorder, and before I plug in the audio recorder, I clap 3-6 times. That provides spikes on all the cameras and the audio recorder which I use to sync up the audio in Davinci Resolve.
I'm not doing daily editing but found the NFlightCam splitter cable for my audio recording. Plugs into the more modern GoPro's using usb-c but a bit expensive. Another option since you've already got the adapters and splitters you can just buy a audio input dongle from GoPro, which then converts usb-c into also having a 3.5 jack. I love how you use the one finger, please be quiet gesture for us on CZcams :)
I dug it when you filmed in your Cesna, it looked so fake. 😂 It's so cool that you also have many angles with a variety of cameras, it made for a much more interesting video. All bonus because we'd watch it regardless for your content. Editing of that high pitch is amazing, I had no idea it was there. Very cool. Love all your vids, keep them coming please!!

Before I bought my Archer I was super close to pulling the trigger on a Mooney very similar to yours -- between insurance cost (new pilot) and the prop having the re-occuring 100hr eddy current inspection I kind of dissuaded myself. Still want a Mooney one day though...
Thx, very helpful, my friend and I are trying to figure this out. He is using one of my GoPro cams to record student lessons. I have the external GoPro mount on the tail of my Arrow for the dramatic award winning cinema graphics or pictures of kewl stuff we fly over. It is also a way I know when I have more than 6 quarts of oil in my engine, it catches every drop my engine pukes overboard. I have the same prop as you, how much was your inspection? I paid $400 cash, would have been more credit but I paid the front desk so it was all good. I enjoy your channel, kewl flying, no drama.
The ‘edited audio’ sounds like it is missing the high frequencies, making it less pleasant to listen to in my opinion. I like the sound of the ‘raw audio’ much better. The audio in your C150 videos sounded better to me.

That recording app is also available on the light speed Zulu also but they made it much simpler in the delta Zulu headsets
