  • Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #178!
While exploring northern Nevada with some girlfriends, we visited this beautiful old semi-ghost-town north of Winnemucca called Paradise Valley. People still live here, and are very friendly. After having drinks in the saloon, we explored a bunch of creepy old abandoned houses on the edge of town. It looked like a Thomas Kincaid painting after the apocalypse!

The first basement room was the bakery portion, the second one was for meats and cleanup, I do believe. And yes, that was a coal chute. I was a historical home tour guide here in PA for a bit, at houses dating from the early 1700s, pre revolutionary war, to the late 1800s, post civil war ..that whole building, from the ice house that extended under the road, up, fascinated me so much. The older the building the more amazing. ❤️
The Hollymatic is a type of meat grinder. You see similar on most farms.
The door on the top of that first building was to throw hay down from. It's usually stored on the second floor.

Sometimes WonderHussy is like a little kid on Christmas morning with her enthusiasm for mundane stuff most people ignore or take for granted. I think it is that infectious curiosity that makes us all love her. But some of us, including me, are exactly like her and can relate to her 100%. Every video she does makes me smile.

WonderHussy uses a Fuckamatic(tm) vibrator. I can't tell if that town is surrounded by a forest or those are artificially planted trees? It seems like there is raining and snowing there so it should sustain trees, maybe. Anyway, people need to buy up my "Impact" a James Grider novel on Amazon that I've written, including any subsequent sequels I publish, so I can afford to move out of the desert into a forested area where I'll have coolness and shade.

Paradise Valley is a ranching community and Italian stone masons were hired for farming and ranching during summer. In the winter they used there mason skills to build the buildings.
The cellars are root cellars to store vegetables like carrots , potatoes and make fermented pickles plus make wine. .

Another great explore. 21:01 The international truck is a 1980 model. The license plate is from between 1983 and 2000. Can't find much info on the town, except that it was an agricultural and mining town from 1864 until the 1960s, when the mines closed down and it became a ghost town. Recently it's been undergoing a revival and some of the businesses have been reopened.

I would bet the duplex was like a boarding house originally that sperated the men and women. Later on it might have been a ranch or farm bunkhouse for the hired help. The women did the washing and tack repair and the men worked the land and took care of the animals. I agree the basement with the barred windows was probably the jail. The fire places where probably stoves to cook for the inmates and lawmen as well as keeping them warm in the winter. That big open basin may have been an old laitreen, careful what you touch... Lol
Great old cars. That was probably the mayor's house at one time or maybe a brothel. Ya never know unless you learn more from the locals. Great video

I recall back in the days of the crash of the family farm, a tiny posse of us would cruise the country-side poking into hundreds of abandoned buildings in the Dakotas. Always 'creepy', often dangerous, magnetic in it's draw of ghostly charm.

The doors on the 2nd !evel may be a way to get out if snow is deep. I've seen an old house here in CO that was built by a miner who had lived in the mountains and that is why he put doors on the 2nd story, even though he didn't know snow would not get that deep closer to Denver.

They actually are for throwing down hay. You store it above to keep it dry, and it's just easier to throw it down to the livestock. We had one on our barn.

@@mdiddio Yup, usually with an extendable beam/pulley arrangement to hoist hay up there, too. Although I will admit - I was stationed in the Air Force in Upper Michigan, and when the snow piled up we'd exit our barracks from the second floor fire escape. It was faster and easier to trudge across 10' snow pack than to follow the carved out canyons that maintenance cleared out on the first floor sidewalks.

the American Pickers would pay good money for that Goodyear sign. that first Jeep is from the mid 50,s i think. that one next to what i think is a model T is what is called a flat fender from 1941 to the late 40,s early 50,s my parents still have a wringer washing machine that my mom uses every now and then.

I really liked that 2nd Jeep! The washers were both Maytags one was electric the other was gas operated with a kick starter. they had cast aluminum tubs and many are still in use in areas with Amish.

Apocyl Doomer is it great minds think alike or sick minds think alike.? just kidding. i don,t know who has the better job .Mike and Frank for finding that stuff or Rick Dale in Las Vegas who gets to bring it back to better than new condition. the problem i would if i had the pickers job. i would find something cool and not ever want to sell it . i would go in the hole pretty quick i think. i met Rick and Kelly about 3 years ago. really nice people.

Once again, great tour of an old, this time, semi-ghost town. That white house is a shame it is abandoned, it looks really pretty from the outside. I don't believe in ghosts either, but I do believe in big cockroaches and they terrify me. LOL If I were an urban explorer, there is only one way I would do it, would need to wear an Hazmat suit and would be spraying insecticide all over the place. Hey, that's just me...
