back when I lived in Chicago, I found $20 on the sidewalk on State St. I did look around a bit to see if anyone was panicked looking for it. It was when I worked at Borders so I had a coworker run to Dunkin & get a dozen donuts to share around (& giant coffees for myself & him for doing the leg work).
I've been on the other side tho. Cashed a paycheck & did my grocery shopping & had probably $600+ in an envelope in my day planner. Left it in the cart at the market & drove home. The lovely cart attendant (a high school kid) had rescued it & not touched a bit of the cash. I tried to reward him when I went back but they wouldn't take any money. He is my hero forever.
and yes, I know it was really stupid of me

When I was 19 I went out in Leeds (UK) with a couple of friends drinking, as you do. I've always been pretty on top of where my purse (wallet) is even when drunk, so when I woke up with a hangover to multiple missed calls from my brother the next day I was really confused. It turned out that what had happened was that walking back to my friend's house after our night of revelry we'd passed a fountain which my two friends (male) had decided they simply must strip off and run around in. Stripped down to their pants (underwear) and asked me to put their wallets in my bag which I did. While putting their stuff in my quite small bag my own purse must have fallen out but because the bag weighed what it usually did I didn't twig. Fortunately a kind stranger handed it in to the local fire station (I guess it was the closest 'official' place) who passed it onto the local police station. My surname is unusual so they managed to trace my aunt because she was a registered GP, who contacted my dad who contacted my brother who called me. So much drama while I was merrily sleeping off a night out. When I got it back the person hadn't taken any money (I was a student so only had about £2.50 in there but still) OR my full Caffe Nero loyalty card which would have got them a free hot drink. I felt immensely lucky that day and have kind of wanted (although wanting a stranger to lose their purse is a weird thing to want) to find someone's lost purse or wallet so I can send it back to them, everything in tact with a couple of extra quid and a little note from me hoping they lost it in hilarious circumstances.

There are a lot of spooky empty churches in Norfolk. I discovered, doing family tree, that one of my ancient ancestors was vicar at two of them, one on the hill (empty and forlorn) and one down the hill in the valley. I wrote to the local up to date vicar and sent him a donation. I found both of them and had interesting chats in the local pub about it all. Love an old church. Why was St. Andrews so extra spooky then? As for money, I found a 20pd note stuck to the pavement in the rain. Having just spent 20quid on a night out it was a welcome sight. Sorry you got so hot and bovvered in your b & b. Couldn't have been worse than last night surely?? Oh my. How hot???? Looking forward to the Bembridge walk!.... x J x

But whenever I've found money in a supermarket I've always handed it in. Having worked in them for a long time over the years I know that people do come and ask if it's been handed in and more often than not it was dropped by a child!

There was nobody around and I wasn't sure how I could get it back to its rightful owner, plus I was really poor at the time living in a grotty basement flat hell in a dodgy part of Bristol, so I decided to see it as a little pick-me-up from the universe and kept it. I'm not sure what the protocol is, where you're supposed to hand in money if you find it, but I think I'd feel uncomfortable keeping £50+.
I'm not sure if you have any intention of doing more of them, but while doing my duty and re-watching vids on your other channel I rediscovered your ebay road trips and remembered how much I liked them. There's something fascinating about the world of the charity shop and the (at times incomprehensible tat) stuff that ends up in them. No offence but I think this video has excessive flaunting of strawberry laces. It should carry a warning to people/person who can’t get nice tasting strawberry laces. It’s quite traumatising to watch you give them away to other people. Also I just found out about an avocado variety that has my maiden name, that can be eaten skin and all. I feel that is quite cool. If there was a fruit that had your surname what would it be and what characteristics would it have?

    • @cdwc

Wonderfully interesting flowers the macadamia tree and great to throw in the shell at people you dislike… particularly your sister. You have snowballs in the uk we had macadamia nuts. I just ordered 2 trees last week for my garden actually…perhaps for throwing. We will see. :)

Hot rooms on hot nights are the worst. Here's a tip...take a cold shower, as long as you can manage, before going to bed. If still hot in the night....take another. That's what I do anyway. Although I take them on winter mornings too, so you should probably question my sanity before anything else.

I'm similar to you on finding money. If I found up to twenty quid, happy days but anymore than that I'd hand it in because I know what it's like to be struggling. Obviously, finding a wallet is a different ball game entirely and I'd hand that in immediately.

Well done number 1! Another walk that you smashed the s out of. I had a question concerning your walk rating system, what's the maximum number of Marek's that can be achieved,?? As for the money question, I think it depends where you find it. If I'm in the middle of nowhere and come across £100 I will happily keep that. If I was in a town and in front of a shop or a bus stop then I would probably ask around if it belonged to anyone. Before then keeping it!
