It comes through sometimes in how he's playing, though. You think a 5 year old would have spotted skeleton merchant the moment he was visible in a far corner of the screen in the low light of lava moss, let alone figure out he's a skeleton?
While this IS excessively done for comedy sake, I do think it helps put in perspective for players with tons of hours that yes, Terraria IS a confusing game and a player without a wiki will take most likely 10s if not 100s of hours to progress
OKAY i had played terraria quite a bit, and only like a month ago i started actually using a wiki. but i wasn't THAT dumb. mind you this was xbox 360 which had less content but still!
I feel like terraria does a really good job of explaining itself, so long you aren't afraid of buttons or reading tooltips. But the game has a built in crafting guide and a built in monster encyclopedia.

5:19 funny thing is, when I first played Terraria, I really put armor into the vanity slots, but there's a bug back then with language localization that made the game crash whenever you put anything into a vanity slot when not playing on English
I got the game first on mobile, 7 years ago. I equipped armor in both the armor and vanity slots, but I put the cooler lookong ones in the vanity. Needless to say I struggled with bosses (also I couldn't read much of it, as my english isn't my first language)
Some things I think a 5 year old could figure out... a circular ring like object goes in the slot with the ring shape. A 5 year old would notice the defense value going up for armor in one slot but not the other. There's playign like a 5 year old and then there is playign intentionally bad.
I have seen young children who could absolutely figure all this out with ease, but on the other I've seen kids who would unintentionally make worse decisions than little Timmy here. It's give and take and almost random with little ones
