Pro Terraria Player reads the Wiki
hey, at least it's not fandom
I think some of the deliveries came off as if I was genuinely upset, when it was more meant to be poking fun at some of the ridiculous things on the wiki. A lot of the stuff was marked as outdated/needing to be updated, it's not like this is going "wow the wiki is awful," more "wow look at all this silly things it recommends doing."

Just in case you wanted more math I didn't check every single boss like I did in the defense video, but I feel like a pretty clear pattern established itself quickly. There were quite a few segments I had to cut because I didn't want this video to run over an hour, some of those will be going up on my Patreon soon! There will be details about damage that regular enemies deal, damage reduction, the paladin's shield, the shimmer buffs, and a detailed comparison of the worm scarf vs brain of confusion. I beat Terraria with the worst weapon in the game
I should try playing with no i-frames mod
That's a lot of useful information, and overall that a good argument. But everything of those doesn't matter at all in one case: Daytime empress of light) There defense really means absolutely nothing, and actually another survival build shines there: evasion and i-frames. And damage of course, cause in that case the fastest the boss dies the less time you need to sweat and less chance you're eventually make a mistake. But for other cases, yeah, solid points
Femboy rage!!1
Counter argument: Skill issue
I like the item, but I have all the same complaints. I generally don't use it in hardmode.
i kinda wanna see you make your own version of that progression "chart" XD
im suddenly thankful i only went into the wiki for item drops and figuring out what was in the game left to do XD
What about worm scarf?
I used full warding to beat my first Expert run with all Warding accessories. It wasn’t how I cleared most of the game but for the end-game bosses as summoner it was a life-saver.
honestly this sounds very much like 'everyone goes in to medium-core with very strange expectations, if they just had reasonable ones they would have much less issue with it'
which is fair*
Full defense is good, but i frames, dodge, and high defense is better
Mix with regeneration for a fun surprise
Seems like a skill issue to me
as a D1 mediumcore hater, this video made me want to do a mediumcore run DESPERATELY
so I guess tanks also serve an offensive/DPS role, with their DPS coming from all the hits their teammates would otherwise not be able to land if there wasn't a tank keeping the boss in one place so it can be hit more reliably
the real solution to dealing with mediumcore item dropping: just don't leave home (or anywhere near any teleporters/pylons/railroads/whatever you've made to quickly and safely get somewhere) with anything you can't afford to lose or replace; this is also known as the golden rule of just about any game where you lose things on death it's that simple
Honestly, the only part of downpour that really just.. didn't click for me, was artificer's whole campaign. Like, it feels NOTHING like rain world. From the story to the gameplay. It's like an edgy furry oc that someone just put into the game. It adds almost nothing to the major lore, with the small exception of letting us see 5P's stances on the lore pearls. The gameplay is less of trying to survive and more just combat. It feels more like hotline miami than rain world. Not to mention how absurd the whole story is. Gourmand's campaign get the excuse of it clearly being an exagerated story to be told to the slugpups in the colony, but artificer's story is straight up just a 14 year old's edgy oc. It kinda tries to redeem itself with the dreams and echo dialogue, but it just feels extremely out of place in rain world.
oh cool if I may ask, what made you able to get so many people into a server together? it looks so fun and chaotic to see multiplayer terraria with so many people
'Can i bone her' is wild, little timmy got some explaining to do
I don't understand why people find this to be boring or bad. Just like in life, it is best experienced if you don't know what you will encounter with. So that you stride cautiously. When I started terraria I started with mediumcore. I remember I spent hours and hours just to get back to my items where I left them when I died. Eventually I learned to tread carefully. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. The things that make the game harder are the things that also make you stronger. Where is the fun in mining in the underground if you get 1 shotted by a boulder and return there again without worry, knowing that dying is not a problem because you won't lose your items. But in mediumcore, Instead you craft danger sense potion or similar stuff and pay attention to surroundings so that you feel the excitement and frustration all at the same time.
I really don't like how so many strong potions require fishing all over the world
I don't play mediumcore, I play softcore. Not for any "one's easier than the other" reason, I love myself a good challenge- I wouldn't fight the Moon Lord if I didn't, it's just that Terraria isn't that kinda game for me where you go out of your way to make it hard- losing all of my money because I don't have a piggybank yet is already annoying enough early-game, losing all of my items? No thank you. And hardcore... I don't even need to worry about deleting my save after losing my terra blade, the game does it for me! Terraria is my "game and chill" game, and intentionally making that experience miserable isn't on my to-do list. I can see why some people would want to play mediumcore, hell, maybe even hardcore. It's whatevs, your choice, not mine. Some people have fun with the unique experience of a fight to the death to get their items back, some have fun with the unique experience of knowing they have to do everything with a nice flavourful side of heavily increased caution out of fear that they'll die, but for me? Softcore's for Terraria, Hardcore and Mediumcore's for Minecraft.
dont know if anyone noticed but it listed ko cannon and keybrand as bre boss weapons
They are pre-boss on some special seeds.
the health is a resource at the end really changed my perception of playing. Saving it up as a failsafe for bad luck or a skill issue or expending it for higher DPS is something i never thought about
Did you see the "Most likely outdated since 1.4" at the top of the page where the status was said to be under revision?
counterpoint: bigger number
Virgin sorbet: Can't be any deadlier than a broken copper shortsword, can only attack while on the ground and in motion, depends on NPC's and mechanisms instead of facing his enemies like a real warrior. Chad skeletron: Divides by 0 and just blinks out of existence.
pre-1.4 copper shortsword only when? (don't do pre-1.4 copper shortsword only)
i did lawnmower only, that's basically that
i want someone to do this for the calamity wiki, since its horribly out dated
Nice to see a breakdown on the numbers, will definitely be prioritizing warding on accessories from now on
Thanks fow the tip my fwiend. Keep on wocking out!
I haven't tried beenades in post 1.4 but I remember just spamming beenades after summoning Wof and It died so quickly that I didn't even realise it. It was confusing and felt like cheating.
I've always thought the tips section on many pages was borderline asinine, and I'm terrible at the game despite playing for nearly a decade lmao
Menacing is the wrong way to go anyway If you're going for damage, increase your crit chance as much as possible. One hundred percent is a better increase than twenty eight percent.
increasing by 100% 28% of the time is the same on average as increasing by 28% 100% of the time In general, the two perform pretty similarly
@@sorbetcafe incorrect, that is not how the math works. Every weapon besides minions already has a crit chance, usually around 12%, and increases to that are additive. If we assume one hundred hits with a number of crits equal to the crit chance and no increases beyond accessory modifiers, let's say with 50 base damage and 12% crit chance, the math looks like this: 12+28=40 crit, 50•1.28=64 Lucky: 50•60+100•40=7000 Menacing: 64•78+128•12=6528 It's not huge but it's noticeable, and this is BEFORE factoring armour bonuses and potions.
just gonna let you know I made a sequel video to this talking about lucky and no, the two perform extremely similarly in most situations
Also to be fair, a lot of people still play 1.3 for mods. Crazy ik but some mods never got ported unfortunately. I would too if i wasnt immensely lazy, i miss suffering with absurd crafting trees
What defines pro terraria player
have YOU beaten the game with a lawnmower only?
This guy can talk about defense longer than I can complain about stuff i don’t like and that is reallly impressed good job sorbet you are very knowledgeable about defense.
A walkthrough guide written by IGN? probablyy not, IGN could probably not even beat wall of flesh with the zenith and solar armor and every single buff applied.
This is why fandom wiki is better
3:33 I actually did delete some outdated info on the wiki. It said that the turtle mount was useful for building bridges when paired with the brick layer, but due to the turtle mount getting its speed buffed that’s no longer true. I would recommend using a building potion with a brick layer or its upgrades, just don’t use any speed buffs, mounts, or accessories.
now the question is is it as bad on the calamity wiki
I mean, honestly, im glad they keep the recommendation for older versions, but they should make the selection clear.
17:44 no way homophobic timmy
10:50 the sound of suffering
Man after they started using ai for this stuff it’s so bad
i, uh, don't think this stuff was ai generated
I need more videos like this. For way too long the wiki was my one of my only sources of Terraria information and now i KNOW it was holding me back
As a person who edited a wiki once, God forbid the idiots, who don't play the game for all of its elements, or at least didn't hyperfocus on one particular element of the game and its relative topics, that try to write an article with such poor accuracy and/or lack of content.
I wonder if they have done something about sitting on chairs, couches or toilets to increase your hp regeneration, as it was my go to tactic in early 1.4 to facetank everything that moves
