i’ve seen a lot of discourse surrounding this and some people speculate that she sold it out herself cuz it would hardly make a dent in her own income but may help her reputation selling this bag… just something to consider
This is a perfect example of the way consumerism is going in our society. We consume SO MUCH because so much is cheap. Once upon a time, a woman may only have one tote bag, a great quality one that she takes care of and it lasts forever. So if she paid a lot for it it will have been well worth it. If part of it ripped, she will have known how to mend it. these days we buy cheap stuff because hey if it breaks we’ll buy another or perhaps we already have 10 more at home! What I’m saying is if this bag is great quality, the price is not bad if those who buy it intend on using it a lot and valuing it. But we all know most people won’t. And before anyone says “we can’t afford good quality things anymore!” That’s where thrifting comes in. There are so many quality items there that people simply didn’t want off need. It’s crazy. This is crazy. Everything is off balance.
Honestly I agree with the girl defending her. I do think she needed to revisit her demographic though. But I think she wants her brand to be luxury. And it’s working. Take a look at high end brands vs dupes. People are still going to buy the high end simply because of branding.
I'd never spend that on a tote but just to point out farmers markets are cost effective for everyone. Products are cheaper than grocery stores, You get more for your $, freshest way to buy fruit & produce. Coming from someone who sells fruit & produce to the grocery stores....
You will pay more for products made here because the people making it are being paid an actual wage (I don’t know if it is minimum or an actual livable wage) the place manufacturing the products are subject to OSHA regulations to keep everyone safe. So you have to decide what is important to you when buying something. I would look for a similar made in America ethically sourced product at a price point that I can work with. I’m poor but I understand that it is important that we support made in America because that supports families here. I don’t want my money supporting a country that allows its people to be treated like they are disposable.
Why are they so exspensive?? They look kinda cheap no more then $20 tote bag maybe $30. I mean is it gonna be engraved or something for that price?? I'm surprised at this healthy eating girl!! She must need money.
It's a bag that the average person wouldn't or cannot buy, I don't get why people are upset. I don't know her or her audience but one thing about human nature that will never change is that people want to be "in" they want to appear wealthy and in some cases are actually wealthy and will buy ANYTHING that their faves sell no matter the price. We seem to have forgotten that this is how some brands work, this is mid-level "luxury." Remember you can watch a vid and support someone you don't have to buy their stuff.
It’s not a crazy concept. We are under inflation and American citizens expect to be paid $17 an hour at least. Can’t tell you how many times family and friends have gaslit me about starting my own clothing brand…but they don’t realize manufacturers charge per seam they sew, per pocket they put in, per handle they put in…Shit adds up real quick.
@@kennethiavail1719think it’s more off the insensitivity from emily’s part. like you can buy a designer bag made with far better materials for half the price. it seems so out of touch
As a Canadian i already have way more reusable bags then i could ever need, and they cost me almost nothing 😂 out of all the things you could sell from a ridiculous price, why on earth did she chose something that is so readily available for dirt cheap?
I don't think I'll ever understand people who complain about the price of unnecessary things. I haven't finished the video yet so I don't know if there's more to the story.
I honestly think box bags are the better way to go for farmers market anyway, they store more and you can actually stack things appropriately inside of them. I also think her bag might be high quality or at least more stable than even the Amazon bag that was shown. The straps actually extend to the bottom of the bag on her's and due to that, my bags that all have that, have more stability and the straps last longer. Whereas ones like Amazon, after weighted items for long term, the seams begin to rip. Might be able to find one that has long straps like that for less than $120, but I only look for totes like that for heavy groceries.
The funniest part of this is that I’m sure it’s the people who can’t afford it who bought it to pretend they are the targeted audience 😂😂😂 personally I saw it and went about my day without thinking about it because obviously I’m not out of my mind😮💨
This is all about perceived value which is often the case with luxury items. The people that are ok with paying 100+ dollars on a tote bag see some kind of value in it other than the bag it self, it may be status, the material, supporting the brand/ incluencer, or anything other but that the buyer judges to be important. Por example if Trisha saw a tote bag that was worn in a MCR music video she problably would be ok with paying 100+ for that tote. Personaly I think is insane but I understand why some people may purchase it
“It’s one banana, Michael. What could it cost, ten dollars?” For real though yes it’s a stupid price but people were willing to pay it and based on the reactions I would’ve thought she was charging $500 or something like that
$120 for that bag girl I didn’t of that price by just looking at it💀. I wouldn’t it buy it personally and if ppl want to spend their money on it by all means she’s making her coin so the ppl complaining she’s not gonna listen to them.
If you watch Emily Mariko’s facial expressions it’s almost like she’s holding back laughing how rich she’s getting off her regular wedding videos. I’m not even kidding - I noticed it before this. 3:14 Also, she deleted all her pants try on videos bc it’s didn’t fit her new image - but it wasn’t rich girl. It was regular girl trying on Levi’s. I was subscribed to her before the salmon rice video
If you want it and can afford it without going into debt, get it. If you don’t like it, can’t afford it, don’t agree with the price, etc. simply do not support and do not buy. This goes with all kinds of purchases in life.
I have no idea who this woman is but I have no issue with this. If she wants to sell the canvas version of the IKEA bag for $120, I’m happy for her. So you have to decide what is important to you when buying something. I would look for a similar made in America ethically sourced product at a price point that I can work with. I’m poor but I understand that it is important that we support made in America because that supports families here. I don’t want my money supporting a country that allows its people to be treated like they are disposable.
It's priced like it's made for people who don't actually shop at farmer's markets
After finishing the video I have this intense feeling her store is going to be the next goop
Sometimes they mark it as sold out to create fomo or novelty. That way next time you'll hurry up and get one
Why are they so exspensive?? They look kinda cheap no more then $20 tote bag maybe $30. I mean is it gonna be engraved or something for that price?? I'm surprised at this healthy eating girl!! She must need money.
I also feel like things sell out because people want to review them for content
It's a bag that the average person wouldn't or cannot buy, I don't get why people are upset. I don't know her or her audience but one thing about human nature that will never change is that people want to be "in" they want to appear wealthy and in some cases are actually wealthy and will buy ANYTHING that their faves sell no matter the price. We seem to have forgotten that this is how some brands work, this is mid-level "luxury." Remember you can watch a vid and support someone you don't have to buy their stuff.
This is about the stupidest drama I’ve ever had to lay my eyes on.
how the rich stay rich
Putting ketchup and mayo on rice with tuna in a can and calling it a salmon bowl is peak America
Maybe it comes full of produce? 😂
highly recommend yall buy this same thing but at ll bean
It’s not a crazy concept. We are under inflation and American citizens expect to be paid $17 an hour at least. Can’t tell you how many times family and friends have gaslit me about starting my own clothing brand…but they don’t realize manufacturers charge per seam they sew, per pocket they put in, per handle they put in…Shit adds up real quick.
if people don’t like the price.. don’t buy it .. 😭
They're still allowed to talk abt it......
Yeah but I still feel bad for people who will buy it because they want to support her, even though it's a lot of money for them
@@lithia4483…who cares what other people spend their money on.
@@lithia4483not her fault if people aren’t disciplined with their spending. I do understand your point though
Those bags literally look like the good old IKEA bags 😂. But those at least come with long and short straps that's fire! 🔥
I don't think I'll ever understand people who complain about the price of unnecessary things. I haven't finished the video yet so I don't know if there's more to the story.
It's absolutely bonkers but she knew her market... I'm definitely not her market. It's stupid ppl buying stupid stuff. Hilarious.
Might be able to find one that has long straps like that for less than $120, but I only look for totes like that for heavy groceries.
people craving status has been a thing since the beginning of our existence.
The funniest part of this is that I’m sure it’s the people who can’t afford it who bought it to pretend they are the targeted audience 😂😂😂 personally I saw it and went about my day without thinking about it because obviously I’m not out of my mind😮💨
$80 MAX. that price is CRIMINAL
I have that much money but I ain't buying that bag. Rich people stay rich by saving. So I'll keep saving, thank you.
The as kissing is insanity crazy 💀
The bag does looks like it's good quality
This is all about perceived value which is often the case with luxury items. The people that are ok with paying 100+ dollars on a tote bag see some kind of value in it other than the bag it self, it may be status, the material, supporting the brand/ incluencer, or anything other but that the buyer judges to be important. Por example if Trisha saw a tote bag that was worn in a MCR music video she problably would be ok with paying 100+ for that tote.
Personaly I think is insane but I understand why some people may purchase it
“It’s one banana, Michael. What could it cost, ten dollars?”
For real though yes it’s a stupid price but people were willing to pay it and based on the reactions I would’ve thought she was charging $500 or something like that
$120 for that bag girl I didn’t of that price by just looking at it💀.
Also, she deleted all her pants try on videos bc it’s didn’t fit her new image - but it wasn’t rich girl. It was regular girl trying on Levi’s. I was subscribed to her before the salmon rice video
If she's so well off, why can't she make a decent product?
$120 is a lot ? Lol
If you want it and can afford it without going into debt, get it. If you don’t like it, can’t afford it, don’t agree with the price, etc. simply do not support and do not buy. This goes with all kinds of purchases in life.
I have the $$$ to purchase the bag with no problem, but I’d never.
It’s just ridiculous when you can get same quality for way cheaper.
At least make them cute if they are gonna be that much
its so funny that i thought she was a youtuber!!! hahaha
Ohhhh, the topics on some of these videos 😅😅😅😂
I believe she will have a release of something related to baby items since she's pregnant.
I have no idea who this woman is but I have no issue with this. If she wants to sell the canvas version of the IKEA bag for $120, I’m happy for her. I buy weird stuff that just makes me happy (even though other people may not understand why) all the time. No one is making anyone buy this thing and it looks like her audience is mostly adults, so go off Queen! Get that bag (with those bags)!
