I was employed for 34 years as a hospital-based social worker working with patients, their families, doctors, nurses... it was a deliriously busy multi-tasking position; at one point I had a 53 patient caseload. Thus I "rewarded" myself for the stress with both junk food after work and alcohol on the weekends. I suspect this "rewards system" is more common among those employed in stressful jobs than we acknowledge. So what helped? Retirement! Gave me the chance to get my health and body in shape and am healthier now than when I was employed. Also was able to heal myself from C-PTSD with the help of a YT channel called The Crappy Childhood Fairy, which I can honestly say changed my life. Lost 24 pounds, got my blood pressure lowered, got in shape, forgave my parents for neglect and abuse, and wrote/published 3 books. The 9-5 grind can be a killer

So I took a brake from caffeine and coffee because I started taking cold showers in the morning before starting shifts at work. Same effect as the adrenaline from the cold would increase my heart rate so I wouldn't need coffee.
You want to be more awake. Then actively do something like exercise that elevates your rate.

@@henryg3313Cold shower is not an unnecessary chore. It's more of a meditative experience. When the water is cold, we have to embrace it rather than try to tolerate it as we naturally would. It's about enjoying the experience, and such a state is meditative and clarity inducing than bathing in hot water to avoid something chill on the body.

The real answer as Andrew Tate would say is become actually hurt by it, actually feel discomfortable about it, because if it genuinely even slightly bothers you and you have a negative reaction towards it, you will correct it. If you are a fat lazy piece of shit, then you need to be told you are a fat lazy piece of shit, until you actually have had enough of being called one and become healthy and strong and become a respected successful individual in society. The answer has been the same always no matter what deviant behaviour or habit it is, the solution is calling people out when they fuck up and not letting it slide until it’s corrected. And this is being said by a man who was a fat lazy piece of shit, now having lost nearly 15kg (30lbs), working out everyday and actually finding out that I actually quite enjoy the feeling of being strong and realise how big and strong I am and what I can look like 2 years from now. Who would have guessed it 😅
