  • Here's a second look at my Weihrauch HW 44 .22 cal pcp air pistol. This is the FAC (non-power restricted) version, and I shoot a series of different pellets through it to check both chrony numbers and relative accuracy at 10 yards. I have mounted a Truglo 2x42 red dot scope with a 2.5 moa dot. Not quite 'cross hairs reticle' 3x or 4x accuracy, but better for me than the low profile (but still nice quality) stock sights. The power and accuracy lived up to it's undisputed reputation even with my limited shooting skills.
    In my next video, I'll be trying it out to 25 and 50 yards. Enjoy!

    ''they are buku bright'' i haven't heard 'buku' in decades!

      Omg too funny! I'm not sure I've said that (very often) in decades either! I like that word (beaucoup/buku) for some reason, but don't actually use it as much as I'd like. Thanks for noticing, that's classic!

    Nice shooting! Why did you choose the .22 over the .177?

    • @VipersVideos
      @VipersVideos  Před 3 lety

      Hmm..
      - Short answer: As simple as cost to power ratio. If I was willing to pay the steep price (although I did get a good sale price from AOA at the time) for it, I wanted as much power for the platform it offered. I already had the ginormous Hatsan AT-P1 QE in .25 cal, so I then set about for a nice accurate powerful .22 cal pcp pistol.
      - Long answer: While I have a fair amount of .177 cal airguns, I mostly have them in Co2, springers, pumps, etc., I don't use them much for any hunting or pesting so high powered or pcp in .177 cal never really interested me until I got the Diana Bandit .177 cal pcp pistol. That was a great value for the money, so it got me to actually purchase a .177 cal pcp pistol. I have used the HW 44 the most for (pistol) pesting, so the accuracy and power in .22 cal helps me with very humane dispatching. Next most used pistol is my AT-P1, but .25 cal is a bit overkill in many cases and the pistol is really huge to carry about at times.
      Probably more info than you needed, but I tend to blab more than necessary when I'm thinking/getting info out..lol
      Thanks for the comment and question.

      @@VipersVideos thanks for taking the time and sharing your insight, I appreciate. As my use is target shooting, the choice between.177 and .22 is not as clear. The .177 should have a flatter trajectory, but the .22 should be less impacted by wind.

      @@edgillis4686 No problem. It's interesting how we try to think why we want something, and after we get it we rarely reflect on the original reasoning. Well until the next thing we want..lol Speaking for myself at least. Maybe your decision is more clear by what you'd use it for most? Most target shooting indoors .177. Most shooting outdoors .22. That said, I was really happy with the power and accuracy of the Diana Bandit in .177 after putting on the Diana Storm Chaser barrel band. So maybe consider getting something like that as well, and have two nice air pistols for very little more money. I recall getting 10 - 11 fpe with my .177 Bandit. Anyway, good luck with what ever you choose!
