The issue is, and why she's beeing booed, is she's stating to dismantle the Catholic church and the pope. Although there are abuse issues in that and every religion, no religion is "all evil", and Catholicism is the foundation of millions of people's faith which is important to them. This is why people found her approach insensitive, and booed her off - regardless of her honorable intentions.

I lived on the west coast, where at the time we didn’t get to see SNL live. It was recorded when it ran on the east coast and then played for us when the west coast reached midnight. They edited out her ripping of the photo on our run, so I only found about it on the news.
I was a teenager and I understood and loved her message. Too bad so many “adults “ chose to be reactionary and ignorant. The media and public did her dirty.

This unloving abusive mentality in any culture and also reminiscent of the church and roman power and colonialistic power. However we need to remember that very few people created that and abused the Bible for egoistic purposes. Not the average citizen. So if people condone such evil overruling power, that abuses the name of the lord, for power and fortune, then let their hands be coloured by blood, and IT IS NOT A RACE ISSUE. It is a matter of evil people. But certain structures uphold that kind of power: The Church, some governmental emperial structures, also african brutal tribes, which existed before slavery (the africans used slaves before that and just traded those that were tribal enemies, maybe their own, I don't know much about this particular matter). We should not be so quick to judge, just owing to ignorance of the past. Hitler was a malignant narcissist I believe, but in terms of murders, he is no 3, Stalin no 2 and Mao number 1. Another example is Greenland. The escimos were only there late. They were not the first. The vikings were there before, European settlers were there before, but they killed their way into territorial domination.
