What a great lineup and setlist. RIP Paul, wish I could have seen these great musicians together.
Very cool. Derek is blazing, Phil and John are cranking, and Paul and Billy are really digging it, e.g. Billy on the Eleven jam. I love that I am just discovering this more than 20 years later! More time to dig into the treasure chest of musical moments available through the wonders of technology is one of the few bright spots in the pandemic driven world!
Comedian Steven Wright did a short comedy set before Phil. I recently added the video of that to my CZcams channel (search “special guest opening for Phil Lesh 10/31/99”)
Wasnt it after phil and before dylan? Either way it really caught me off guard and fucked me up
20 years ago this week. Phil with Little Feats Bill Payne and the greatly missed Paul Barrere. I only saw The Dead twice in 1977 and Little Feat in 1979. Man the two best groups mixed with one another. I love it,,,
Throw in a little Allman Brothers Band as well! Paul Barrere is quite animated-seems to be digging on playing with young Mr. Trucks! Fun set.
This is the only time Phil Lesh has played with this lineup : Billy Payne on keys and Paul Barrere & Derek Trucks on guitars. It was also the debut of Derek Trucks with Phil Lesh's band.
Yep. For 3-4 nights of this run we had a different lineup after Kimock got kicked off the tour. Derek saved the tour. From what I remember he cancelled his tour to join this. That could be a hazy memory though.
@@chrisdeitzel how come Kimock got kicked of? Ty :)
@@chrisdeitzel Huh? Kimock was on an epic 3-night stand with Phil and Trey in S.F.
@@docwill184 that was a few months before this tour. The story is online about why he got kicked out.
I was there for this show and it was a wild night for me emotionally speaking. I separated from my wife and moved out earlier that day. I got to the show with friends, and and I was in such a haze, I barely remember this set. Bob Dylan closed the night and I only remember bits and pieces. It's pretty interesting to see it now.
How bout Steven wright doing standup at setbreak, really took the green gel tabs to another level, the phil set smoked dylans imo
@@rebuttalc2075 Steven Wright was a pleasant surprise. I know Derek was right off the plane that day and he was “winging it” for the most part. I think he played incredibly, given he didn’t rehearse much, but then again, that’s Derek for you.
I was there amazing show
I second that!
thank you
Opened for Dylan Derek blew is all away.twas dere
Wow was just redirected to this from PHILCO setlist last night. Mountains of The Moon is off the hook!
Great sound quality on this video.!
I was there. This show had a really good vibe. I was 16 years old
Think I was 17, great show
What a line up!!!!
20 years ago today with my friends Dave and Hannah!
What a great tour this was. I saw 6-7 shows from this run and I remember being so excited that Derek showed up this night after Milwaukee with only Paul on guitar as Kimock was kicked off the tour. I kind of wish Paul would have stayed on the next few nights instead of Warren joining on as this show was amazing.
Great times.
Good memory. I saw New Haven, exactly the 7th show after this. Not sure when Warren joined.
Was a pretty big Feat fan in the day, saw w/Lowell Springfield MA 9/30/78. I love this audio.
@@btragalWarren joined either the next night in Columbus or Pittsburgh. Memories are getting fuzzier.
I loved this show!!
What an incredible lineup(!) Little Feat, Derek Trucks, Molo...
This is amazing. Billy just smokin'...
Thnx, Kev!!!

Spectacular! I was at this show and haven't heard it since. What a great set! Derek Trucks was a baby. Hell, so was I! 24 years old...
