- Mikel Arteta hails Arsenal’s defensive display in nullifying champions Manchester City and earning a crucial point to keep their Premier League title hopes alive.
00:00 Intro
00:08 A thrilling game, we competed really well
00:39 The first time they haven’t scored at home in 3 years
01:04 Extremely difficult to keep 2 clean sheets against Manchester City
01:24 Good result for title race? I don’t know, if we can’t win it then make sure that we draw it
01:52 They are the best team in the world by far and we have to catch up
02:14 Saka didn’t train before the match
02:38 Have to be ready to follow the ball against Man City
03:10 Obviously it generates belief and continues momentum
03:39 Expect to be forced into low-block?
04:15 We are improving and we are competing better, understanding how to play these games

In 180 Premier League minutes this season, Arsenal's defense have held Manchester City to just 1.43 expected goals. 45% of that has gone to Nathan Ake. Erling Haaland has had four shots worth a combined 0.28 xG. 😳

The improvement Arteta has brought to Arsenal is so glaring. So much so that these so-called pundits forget he's in his first job as a coach. Personally, I feel this season will be too soon for us to win the league but in Arteta, I believe we will win more titles in years to come. This season was closing the gap and we've done it wonderfully. Eight points off Liverpool and Manchester City is a no mean feet. Now the gop is closed. Let's go for the title in years to come. The Arsenal of the old were accused that they can’t defend but this team now knows how to defend 💪
Yet the last time they defended an EPL title your father was still breast feeding you
Disappointed as we had chances to win but a draw isn’t too bad. A point can be the difference at the end with that goal difference. We are still in the running. On the other hand, to all the city fans who underestimate and talk rubbish about Arsenal, bare in mind you haven’t beaten us this season now so keep quiet from now on. Shout out to Saliba and Gabriel. What a partnership.

Win the title first. Otherwise you'll be just like Tottenham who prides only on beating City.

City have had 2 shots on target in 2 games vs Arsenal this season. Arsenal didn't do enough to win, but they were never in any danger of losing.
Arsenal fans should be hugely impress by Arteta; what this dude is doing for this football club is massive. City are the best team in the world. Any Arsenal fan worth a damn will big up this teams mature performance today. Foden and Haaland were locked down, kevin couldn't find anyone and ran out of ideas. Trossard had that chance to switch sides to square it to Martinelli but held on too long because he hesitated. We could've won the game, we were tough and very hard to play against, Silva looked shell shocked after the game because he's not used to city not scoring at home and Arsenal are making a habit of locking them up and shutting them down. Arsenal are a force now and we are improving every year. Of course rivals will call us bottlers because they are salty with our progression. It's a matter of time before we start winning trophies under Arteta/Edu just be patient everyone 🙏🏻 ❤
You will not win a xxx.

City have had a combined 2 shots on target against Arsenal this season

Football connoisseurs recognised Trapattoni's 'Zona Mista' adaptation by Mikel.
Proactive defending and mastering the dark arts!
I have already warned you Mikel was mixing up Pep and Cruijff's 'total football' & 'juego de posicion' with the Italian 'zona mista' & 'catenaccio' made famous by Trapattoni and Sacchi off the ball.
Mikel Arteta is a generational manager!
I think Arteta just shows Pep and City too much respect because of his relationship with them.
The game was there to be won today with a more confident approach but I think it will come with time either way.
I love how people are trying to bash Arsenal and Arteta for holding City to a 0-0 (stopping City scoring for the first time in 3 years at the Etihad) yet last season we were embarrassed and thrashed soundly. If this isn't sign of progress and proving we can handle ourselves better then what is? Did we look like bottlers today?
This time last season plastic the bottlers were top of the league 8 points clear and here you celebrating a draw in a must win game that's left you 2 pts behind in 2nd
Now if you think "this is a sign of progress and improving" then you clearly have the IQ of a tennis ball.

@@cluckingbell1772 Yeah, 8 points clear but lets pretend City didn't have that game in hand which effectively made it 5 points and a lot tighter because that would spoil your narrative. ;) Judging by your avatar I'm guessing I won't get much intelligent debate from you anyway. Arsenal are clearly progressing from last season. Best defence and attack in the league this season. Why didn't odegaard and saka play yesterday? Are they both injured?

Yes last year they take all
What Arteta means ‘Very mature and disciplined performance from the team’ is because in the recent matches vs City we use to fall for their traps and mind games mostly Xhaka’s attitude leading to red card costed us in big games. We are moving forward 👏
I think because of the break the same momentum and flow wasn’t there in the attacking players so it wasn’t possible to go at them they way we wanted, additionally I think Pep tried to bait us, he wanted Arsenal to go at their “weaker” back line so they could expose the gaps we would of left behind, disappointed to have not nicked it because that Trossard chance was a cut back away from a goal. But I happy with a draw.
I hope he SLAPS Saka to remind him that he is the best winger in the world and not another ”Phill Foden"

Agreed
I still believe if trossard had passed the ball, we might have won the match 😊
Arsenal expected to win this game based on how City played against Liv, but City took control of this game with a depleted squad, they didn't give Arsenal much space.
And now imagine this match (and the possible result) with the following line up:
an aging Cech
Bellerin - Mustafi - Sokratis - Kolasinac
Elneny - Dani Ceballos - Xhaka
Pepé - Lacazette - Aubameyang
Man we've come a long way.
(I actually like Xhaka but his pace - yeah, there wasn't any and against City it always showed)
If arsenal had that frontline now they would have beaten city . Absolutely clear of arsenals current one
well Lacazette was never a prolific striker to begin with.
Also Auba was great for two seasons (then he started to believe that he was the big star and became useless), but I was glad when we decided to sell him...
If we had one striker who could score 20+ goals, then yes we could have beaten City.
But neither Laca nor Auba in his late form would be our solution.
@@Sirinwara Arteta the clown never sold 65m signing Auba, he paid him 10m to leave just like he did Ozil and Pepe

Both you jokes are clueless. We have barely peaked. We are nearly a complete squad by this summer transfer window and we had key members out for big parts of this season. Many of our players are in mid 20s and will be peaking together. All you babies just moaning bcos you fear what's to happen in the coming years. Liverpool is the team that has peaked; klopp is leaving, salah is aging and so is van djik, endo is stop-gap and also will need replacement, their defence is still leaky although offensively they have good options in gakpo, luis, nunez. City has aging KDB, pep may be in his last couple of seasons, 115 charges await them, haaland rumoured to be looking elsewhere at real madrid/barcelona, bernardo will also be looking for a move soon (which he already did last year). Need i really go on more? In 1-2 years the power balance will be a whole lot different, you'll see :)

KDB - 32. Walker - 33, Silva - 29, stones - 29, ake - 29, Ederson - 29, grealish - 28, Akanji - 28,
