So what Sneaky brought up about Dlift dying to crown being a huge play in history is pretty interesting. C9 got matched up with ssg in the grp and thats the year H2k got the freebee vs the albus team. So potentially it would of been TSM vs Albus nox and C9 vs H2k which seem both winnable leading to a C9 vs TSM semi at worlds. That considering TSM and SSG went to the same spots of the bracket.

I would say that Vi goes Aftershock vs Conqueror has to do with what your top lane and engage plan is. Before with engaging tops/supports, Conqueror will give you more staying power as the follow up. With Renekton, you likely prioritize being the missile for Renekton to follow up on. The same with Jax and other tops in that same vein. So being more upfront tanky gives you a little better odds to do your job in a full team fight.
But thats just my 2c :)

Talking shit AFTER you win a fight suggests that you are only talking shit b/c now you are confident that you can/will win and that you didn't talk shit before b/c you were not confident then. So you talk shit BEFORE the fighting/game b/c you are confident and your opponent can reciprocate b/c you are on even terms still as the fighting hasn't started and the game is still in balance. This starts a thread of banter so that smack talk after a fight is more permissible but still usually cringe so has to be self aware to be funny and/or sound confident. If you don't start that banter before then it makes you look weak when you only boast to presumably weaker opponents.
That is just a general outlook on shit talk. Specific case seems more like people being up in their feels, taking things serious in the moment and not having enough rapport for successful banter that doesn't become vitriolic.

I feel like the whole 'banter' bit lives and dies on equal give and take. In this case it was a bit yikes because it went from a 'xd' to 'you are worse than an academy team', such a huge leap in such a short time.
I agree with Sneaky when it comes to trashing talking during in game. That way a player can still prove it or like Zven, fire them up. Trash talking has always been a thing in professional sports, and can mentally block players if they can't handle it.
But none of that after the game trash talking, if no banter was going on in game, that's some small fry beta energy.
IDK about meteos' take on Yeon here. I agree with sneaky that banter during game is fine if people dont take it too deep. Honestly, even if people take the banter seriously, it happening during a game is honestly more entertaining. Would people cancel an NBA player that trash talked after dunking on someone during a game? People complain that LCS is boring cuz players have no personalities but they always make them feel bad for expressing anything, I say let em say what they want lol
Sometimes I don't understand how Sneaky doesn't understand Meteos's viewpoint. With the whole shit talking conversation, all Meteos had to say is shit-talking after you've won a fight is BM because you've already won the fight, you just look like a sore winner rubbing it in. Which is even worse when you go on to lose the game like TL did. On top of the fact that this game is being played at a professional level, I completely agree with Meteos and I find it really hard to not see how shit talking can be done properly and not properly. Especially on stage. People don't view Esports as seriously as traditional sports but if you were to shit talk the losing team in baseball or football your liable to start a brawl. Nah fully disagree. There’s a mental aspect to competitive sports. Games included too. There’s always “bad boys” in sports. And they genuinely add viewing experience to see them. Sports like tennis where it’s just firm handshakes and no banter it can get boring. Sports where there is a heated back and forth makes it more interesting. Doesn’t have to go beyond the court(or rift) but there’s a legitimate mental aspect behind it

Really disagree with Meteos' (and many others) opinion on Yeon bantering during the game. I very strongly believe banter / trash talk is fine literally at any time, by anyone. It makes the league more exciting, and I can't stand when some player decides to do so and then gets shit on by the community, leading to less players being willing to trash talk in the future. Banter hurts no one, and it makes players / fans / casters more invested into what's going on. It can create fun little rivalries and narratives which make the games more enjoyable (ie: "Oh shit, this week is C9 vs TL. Can't wait to hear Yeon and Zven go at it again lmao")
I really hate the gatekeep-y nature the community tends to have towards the topic. It's like there's unwritten rules of when it's OK and when it's not OK. All that does is suppress it and leads to a more stale league overall. So long as the banter isn't too over the top, or feels artificial and forced, I'm all for it. Before the game, during the game, after the game, in interviews, on podcasts, I don't care at all. Just give me more of it.
when i first started playing and watching the game, other than dl's cringe of everyone else is trash and the arbitrary tsm clg rivalry, there was way more personality then than now. players streamed and interacted with players but now they're thrown around so easily they can't make any sort of name/personality for themselves or they just don't stream and interact with fans much. ppl that think trash talk (this type of lame bm trash talk zven did, he looks like he wanted him dead for literally no reason lmao so cringe) is the only way to have a personality but it just shows ppl have only one way to express themselves and that itself is boring imo
