      It definitely ran smoother with the catback on, besides the fact everything isn't vibrating lol. Car just seems more wild though without it and I kind of like it, but I'm going to do something for sure about the midpipes, at the very least a pair of turndowns. Thanks for watching!

    3550 is impressive. I intended on running the cat back off my car as well. While I was tuning, the tuner said it was causing false knock. I wonder if that was part of the issue. I’m looking into getting some turndowns a little further back now possibly with some mufflers added. Will still be lighter than the full catback being there and hopefully avoid any issues.

    • @Scavenger1320

      Interesting you say that about the false knock. I never thought about that and someone else just commented yesterday about the exhaust possibly causing issues with the knock sensor. I'll be honest, I don't really know all that much about all these sensors and tuning, but I started doing a little research on it and it does make sense. Seems like I have no choice but to start data logging now, just have to figure out how and what I need to do it where it won't void my powertrain warranty that's still intact.

    I wonder how much the catback weighs? I think you may need to add extensions after the cat, otherwise you're losing scavenging effect, therefore power (or maybe im just thinking of catless mids 🤔).Enjoy the content! How many miles is on the car now?

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I think that is more with the catless mids. I still definitely need to add some turndowns at least, but looks like I may be getting some custom catless mids to try first. Removing the catback definitely made me quicker from a launch, but there may be something to it when it comes to the top end. Not sure why else my trap speed slowed down so much on a run that reset every other personal best metric. Car is just barely over 11K miles on it now. Oh, and I haven't weighed up the catback yet, I'll get that when I start editing that vid, but I've been told from a reliable source that it weighs about 60 pounds.

That said, I do already have a harness bar sitting and waiting to be installed and I have some ideas on making a good brace for the seat to connect to it. I'll definitely have that all installed before my next race in March.

      @@Scavenger1320 oh awesome, keep safe man. i just thought they would have the same rules when they inspected the car a the new track. oh and 1 more question, idk if it gives away your secrets, but do you ever try to load the car before launch? if so what rpm do you tend to launch at. i plan on doing some practice in my car before the season starts. ive only raced like twice and my lights suck, plus lots of wheel spin. at both idle and loaded just before the car jumps with the brake.

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  Před 7 měsíci

      @@87swoo44 been the same rules for a while now and I’ve had this seat without a rear brace for almost 3 years now and at a bunch of different tracks and no one has said anything before, including even the one that finally did as that was my third year there. Some tracks are definitely more strict than others. Most just see a slow 11 second modern car with no power adders and don’t get that technical.
      I don’t keep secrets on this channel, which I think has upset one or two people as I’ve helped better the competition making wins harder to come by for them lol. This vid basically shows both my styles of launch. When I’m chasing times I just stage as shallow as possible and launch off idle. Reaction times suck that way but it doesn’t matter. In competition though where it does, I’ll prestage and bring the rpm’s up to about 22-2300 and ease off the brake to bump into getting staged and I’ll let it roll in a bit past the stage light coming on but not all the way deep, then as soon as those 3 ambers light up I stab the throttle the rest of the way and go. You can easily hear it a lot better now after I pulled my catback off. That’s also when the race is using a pro tree. I don’t really have a procedure down yet for a full tree since most of the races I do are pro tree.

    • @87swoo44

      @Scavenger1320 oh i see. Any of the tracks around here run baracket classes. Or no prep flashlight stuff and im not into that. I hear ya on the fact they see its modern and just check boxes. When i did go they said its got state inspection, thats good enough for us. Even though you can back yard mechanic a sticker and nothing got checked. I keep hoping some one will come up with a fix for launch control/trans brake set up so its less clunky and less complicated to run. Much appreciated. And now to go practice loading th up the car so i can do it by sound and feel.

      Thanks and I hope it's not, but I'm getting that oil change done this weekend to check the magnetic plug and send in for an oil analysis. When I got back to the staging lanes I popped open the hood and got out and could hear the well defined tick loud and clear from the passenger side of the engine, but what was weird is then I started to go back into my car to grab my phone to record it, the tick just abruptly stopped and was completely gone. It kind of reminded me of the tick I just dealt with in my Ram from the broken exhaust manifold bolt, except that tick faded away, it didn't just instantaneously disappear like it did here.

      @heatherandjasonnelsonracin647 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @Scavenger1320 if the lifter is breaking down. Take the valve covers off and rotate the engine by hand. Sometimes you can see it. Wont compress the valve spring down on the bad lifter. Best to catch it now. We had to replace the engine on our 2012 srt 300. Killed a lifter . Spun a main bearing. Gave no codes. I would go over it really well. Check all i could possibly check. I hope you get it figured out. Great videos!

      I do not have one. I've thought about it but held off since there's a question of warranty and for a long time I was trying to keep my entire drivetrain as stock as possible. Plus being so much lighter should help not put as much stress on the drivetrain like those 8 second cars that seem to try and add weight to brag about how heavy they are lol. Still on the fence about it honestly, but maybe eventually.

    Congratulations on the win boss…driver beats the car this time
    Nice footage of the 170s. Nice to see them outside of a showroom 😂
    What do you think of the rear only widebody ? Would you add rear flares to your car, or would that be too much weight?
    For additional weight reduction, would you start replacing parts with lighter metals, ie. Carbon fiber hood, fiberglass doors? Just interested in your journey as an N/A racer :) thanks!!

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  Před 7 měsíci

      Funny thing about the rear only widebody is that for several years now, well before the 170 was even teased, I've been saying if I could of had a Demon, first thing I would have done is buy a set of regular body front fenders and put them on and only kept the widebody in the rear. I never liked the look of front skinnies on widebody cars. Now when it comes to my car, I have no desire to add a widebody rear. Besides the added weight it's just not necessary. My suspension is already factory tuned for the dragstrip to maximize weight transfer to help with traction and I can fit 305 width tires without any modifications so functionally, there's no need for wider. Besides, Dodge knows this too, there's a reason the Drag Pak only comes in a regular body.
      As for lighter parts, I would definitely love to get a set of Anderson Composites Carbon Fiber doors and trunk lid, but man are they pricey. I wouldn't do any other parts though like the roof. I like having it so that everything I've done so far, can still be undone easily and I can go back to stock anytime I want. Hood I have no interest in either honestly, the stock one is aluminum and already really light so going to a carbon fiber hood barely shaves any weight at all.

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  Před 5 měsíci

      They've talked about different index classes before, personally I like the 11.50 over an 11.00. If it were 11.0 I'd of had to get a tune and do other performance upgrades since the only way my car would hit that is in near perfect or better weather. Once you get to the summer races it would be impossible to be competetive otherwise. As it is, I had the problem with 11.50 when I raced in Kansas. DA was around 4600 and the best my car would do was 11.7 that day. Somehow still made it to the semi-finals but gave my opponent a super easy win since he knew I couldn't run the number.
      Check out the Streetcar Takeover events though when they come to your area. They usually have an 11.0 index class.
