probably so. I glad I learned how to drove stick. I mainly do landscaping and lawn care work. I work as a landscaper at a golf course at a resort. I hopped on a john deere stick shift cart and was shown the basics of driving a stick. I finally grasped the concept. I taught myself how to change gears on time by ReV matching not the best yet tho. But I go gonfrom 1st to 5 easy. Nobody taught me how to downshift. so i taught myself. Before that I would be in 5th gear or whatever driving gear. So I would have the clutch tomthe floor. then slap it in Neutrals then shut the vehicle off. pont is lesen hiw to drive a stickif you get the chance way more excited and a better driving experience

Not user error though, just the natural power limit of the box (anyone involved with tuning subarus knows how weak the 5 speed is) Proper built gearbox with PPG internals and some spanner time, good as new, the stock gears weren't going to last forever anyway 😅

Whenever I get in any of my buddy’s 600+hp cars with stage 2-4 clutches I tend to stall pretty often when starting out. All clutches are different especially clutches meant to hold a lot of torque and with lighter flywheels. Every car is different. You just have to take youre time

He should’ve rode the clutch a little while changing gears until he got better finding the bite point. Riding the clutch is not good, but it’s better than destroying your transmission completely in one shot and needing expensive repairs.

For all newbies: I recommend taking a 30 minutes in your garage, engine off, listen to music and go through the gears all normal and then do it blindfolded. To build that muscle memory connection.

I just started driving manual, and I haven’t even money shifted once, you’ll notice when you’re actually driving, it’s actually pretty difficult to money shift, there’s a physical resistance when you are close to shifting into the wrong gear

@@hphp6135The big wobble at the start was from him not properly taking off. The car wobbles like that because he let off the clutch too fast and bogged down the engine. If you don't give it a little gas (especially with a bitty ass little engine) then it's more likely to happen, and your car will shut off. It shows a lack of experience. It also shook from first to second. After that I can't tell what happened, but I think he went back to first gear at high revs and then we get an "oh no"

My dude. It’s not that hard. When you push the shifter into neutral, let it go. It’ll center itself. Then go straight up. That’s third. Congrats. If you’re going to shift that slow anyway, might as well make sure you’re going into the right gear. Also, if the transmission doesn’t let you go into that gear, don’t force it. That’s why it wasn’t letting you shift into 1st.
DON'T granny shift, you need to double clutch if your trying to hit speeds real quick, If i were around you man I'd help you and give you lessons, no shame we've all been there before there ain't nobody that hasn't got into a manual and didn't start out crappy keep up the good work bro.

A honda engine can redline for hours without causing damage. He may have killed the tranny but I know for a fact he did not kill the engine.
The only way for the valves to get smashed is if the timing was wrong or if a valve got stuck. Transmission has nothing to do with that

@@FuskyTheHusky81 my gearbox is notchy enough when it's cold but as soon as I get abit of heat it's better but yeah I defiantly wouldn't shift into 1st unless I was at a dead stop unlike my jazz. It feels like it has a lockout haha but I blame my clutch
@kainestefaniak2751 yah know both the 8th gen si amd 8th gen 1.8 I've owned. The first gear does not like going in at all. I thought this was just a my car thing 😂😂😂
@@FuskyTheHusky81I had an FR-S with the same exact issue but for 2nd gear lol. On colder days you needed a lot of patience for the 1-2 upshift at first.

@@hphp6135The big wobble at the start was from him not properly taking off. The car wobbles like that because he let off the clutch too fast and bogged down the engine. If you don't give it a little gas (especially with a bitty ass little engine) then it's more likely to happen, and your car will shut off. It shows a lack of experience. It also shook from first to second. After that I can't tell what happened, but I think he went back to first gear at high revs and then we get an "oh no"

It always seems as tho drivers give gas when the clutch is not fully released, can/should i gas while it reaches bite point? Thanks!

My dude. It’s not that hard. When you push the shifter into neutral, let it go. It’ll center itself. Then go straight up. That’s third. Congrats.
If you’re going to shift that slow anyway, might as well make sure you’re going into the right gear.
Also, if the transmission doesn’t let you go into that gear, don’t force it. That’s why it wasn’t letting you shift into 1st.
