Nice job. In the states we have a tool that might help installing the bolts on the oil filter cover. They are small palm sized ratchets that fit on socket extensions. You can hold pressure on the bolt and ratchet them snug with the palm extension. Pretty handy for tight spaces too. A trick with the spark plug installation is a 4-5” piece of fuel line in the tip of the plug where the cap goes. You can get the threads started with out pressure that might cross thread the cylinder head. Then tighten as usual. 😊

I like the sound of the palm ratchets, if I can find them over here. Thanks for the spark plug tip. This is one bike where it would be easy to cross thread the plug.

@@ridetheslowlane6642 my pleasure. Went shopping for bikes today. Have to check out RE. Good riding!

On the new 350 RE have abandoned magnets in the drain plugs. At the first service I noticed no metallic residue, just a slight milky colour to the oil. This could be oil brand, which I replaced with Silkolene of appropriate spec. I envy your bike stand, my maintenance endeavours included plenty of horizontal shenanigans. The 500 is a nice looking machine.

Thanks. I don't think I would want to be without a bike lift now!

Excellent. LUcky bike to have a seriously careful owner doing the service properly.

sir....do you have an idea on how to stop my royal enfield classic 350 from leaking petrol around the fuel petcock....i think my petcock o ring just got flattened

So you don't replace the large o-ring that is used on the seal plate?

Checked it and it was in excellent condition, so didn't replace it (a replacement did not come with the oil filter but I do have plenty of 'o' rings if it had been needed).

@@ridetheslowlane6642 Thanks for the response. I replaced it today (because I am a paranoid and mechanically inept rider). It's a quirky bike. Oil level window is like staring into the great void, but everything seems to be fine. Ride on!
