- We have achieved strong, fast, power-dense, high-efficiency, biomimetic, soft, safe, clean, organic and affordable robotic technology. The dumbbell weights 7 kg (15,6 lbs), forearm with hand only 1 kg (2,2 lbs).
This artificial muscles robotic arm is operated by water and consumes 200W at peak. We invent and produce portable power supply and our own valves to have complete controllability of speed contraction and compress the whole powering system (for a full body) inside humanlike robot torso.
At this moment our robotic arm is operated only by a half of artificial muscles when compared to a human body. Strongest finger-bending muscle still missing. Fingers are going to move from left to right but they don't have muscles yet. Metacarpal and left-to-right wrist movement are also blocked. This version has a position sensor in each joint but they are yet to be software-implemented. We are going to add everything mentioned above in the next prototype.
The movement sequence was written and sent by simple commands to a hand. We wish to develop a platform for reinforcement learning purposes, prosthetic arms and ultimately a full humanoid robots to serve people for fun, as butlers, cleaners, chauffeurs, construction workers (also in space) and even in the future achieve human immortallity by transplanting the brain into the machine.

It's not at all impressive. anyone can make what he shows in screen, it's simple, child's play. I want him to show us how he solved the problem of having to have a massive and really heavy fluid filled hydraulic system (always off camera) or is there no actual solution for that and this is just a scam to get CZcams add revenue. Never shows anything but the hand end of the mechanism... hiding the massive room sized hydraulic system. Useless for anything but getting clicks and likes from idiots.

@ most technology starts off large, and then when it becomes more understood and feasible it becomes smaller over time. Look at computers...used to fill a massive room, then eventually a small room, then just a wall, then a table, then half a desk...you get the point
I’ve been an amputee for 52 years. I’ve used some type of prosthetic arm for a lot of that time. This is perhaps the coolest, most jaw dropping demo I’ve seen ever. Well done!

@@bruninhohenrriUnfortunately linking it to the brain might be the hardest step. It's extremely difficult to open (and close) the brain safely, much less communicate with it seamlessly.
@@Sylas-bs2pp i think what we will see first (and pretty sure already being developed) are the existing robot prosthetics that read existing muscle movements, being super enhanced with AI. They can already do some impressive stuff, but if the limbs were context aware, it would give the user so much more control.

Makes you appreciate biology even more. Our muscles are completely silent with great strength and agility. Still this is impressive work. I think this is the path forward for prosthetics.

Muscles aren't completely silent. Put your ear to the bottom of your forearm, and then clench your fist really hard, then completely release, then clench again. You can hear this "buzzing" or "rumbling" sound coming and going, which is actually the sound of the muscle fibers contracting. It is, of course, nowhere as loud as this artificial hand, but still, pretty cool that you can hear it.

I’m an upper amputee who uses a myoelectric prosthetic and seeing this made me cry. I have never seen such realistic and varied movement. I would love to be in line to get or test this arm. I’m a content creator and model and would love to share my experience using it :)
I agree i would love to see this arm used in the future by many. my left arm is disabled where I can move it from a accident and this gave me hope that one day I can get back what I lost.

This is some of the most natural and human-like movement I've seen out of a mechanical arm. My guess is that this is owed to its structure and function being based on that of the human body, not just the outward aesthetics of it. This is brilliant work, I am astounded at the progress made and am on the edge of my seat waiting to see where it goes next!

The cloth around the hydraulic tubes gives it such an uncanny valley kind of feeling. It moves so organically, if you ignore the noise. I mean, if your arm skin was transparent, in a sense, you'd feel that your arm was robotic as well; a very well lubricated robotic arm.
And it's unbelievable to me that this is just a home-made prototype.
Imagine if this man was equipped with full staff, resin and metal 3D printers, all the tools imaginable he could manufacturer full-body Androids in silent operation completely indistinguishable from humans.

I absolutely thought this is the way next gen robotics would go with the "muscles". Now they'll make them smaller and in greater qtys for epic control, strength and redundancy I hope. Keep up the amazing work.
Now we need to improve battery energy density and make low weight/size pumps with good power and it'll be just perfect with some sort of neurological interface being either intrusive or unintrusive

Not much as long as people would have to carry a hydraulic pump around. Remember, it's not just the arm, there's an entire system to make it work. If some kind of very strong but also very efficient electricity-controlled muscles will be invented, that'd be a game changer for that kind of prosthetic hand.

Best robotic arm in the world! This is the direction that all engineers should go when it comes to prosthetics.
This is truly one of the most impressive humanoid inventions I’ve ever seen. I honestly didn’t think hydraulic muscles could be used to mimic realistic movement that well because they contract less than human muscles. I’d be interested to know how precise this arm is compared to its human counterpart. Honestly I’m not sure how humans move their fingers with high precision, I’d imagine we activate both the extensor and flexor muscles with different amounts of force to regulate position and speed. Is something similar possible with this model?
No humanoïde robots no !!
Humans do it through a continuous feedback mechanism. We can sense the position and resistance to motion of our parts. Conceivable a robotic arm could do the same if it were equipped with good enough sensors.

If you are working with numbers from 1-10, and the 'brain' applies a 4, you're always left with a 6. Don't need a sensor on the hand saying that there is a 6.

1. The tension in tendons and muscles
2. The position of limbs and digits
3. The amount of pressure on skin
All of these are needed to accurately control such an interaction.

@ well don't forget that this technology is very much in the pre-pre-alpha stages. Sure, it requires a huge pump right now, and a large reservoir, but remember what the first electronic computers looked like? What's important about this invention is not if you can shove it into a robot now, it's about how can it be improved, miniaturized, and refined to become a viable product :)

Great work. What a nice looking demonstration. I've seen lots of prosthetics but never something that looked so nice and moved with such precision. Still got quite a bit of work ahead of you. How do you plan on having the user control the arm? Will you be taking cues from other muscles and converting them to motion in the prosthetic or will it use better technology (like mind control)? Using your mind to control it might seem a bit far-fetched, but the technology has been around for years and I'm confident you could integrate them together.
This is extremely interesting, and I am excited to see the progress you make not only with additional muscles in the forearm, but also the addition of the arm proper. With talks of this being used as a model for prosthetics, it's also important to see if this could be integrated into an existing arm (i.e. attached to an elbow) and how that would function in regards to muscles such as the biceps brachii and how it would attach to the prosthetic forearm. Beautiful work. Great use of hydraulics, rather than following the herd with electric motors. One of the attractive features of hydraulics is that it takes no power to generate constant force, unlike electromechanical actuators. From the sound of it, the pump stops when the motion stops... so the standby power consumption is zero. The fluid muscle actuators are compliant rather than rigid, and are compact enough to fit inside the arm.

Their ideal arrangement, perfect length, folds in the right places, symmetry and other similar features are evidence of Allah's existence. Probably you could make it with titanium if its on a 10 foot humanoid robot, but lighter materials would make sense on a human, considering the arm is replaceable if damaged.
@@SujalRajput10 Titanium is twice as dense as aluminum and half as dense as steel. Titanium alloys have some of the best strength-to-weight ratios
