  • Choosing the right backpack sprayer is a big decision. Today, we review the new battery backpack sprayer from Yard Mastery. It's a very high quality sprayer that has a lot of advantages over the competition. The spray includes literally EVERYTHING you need to apply foliar and soil lawn care products.
    The build quality is as good as the Flowzone Typhoon 2 while supporting higher flow rates. The Yard Mastery sprayer also includes professional spray nozzles from TeeJet. It comes with a quick connect nozzle adapter to make use of the TeeJet nozzles.
    All of this at a price below its nearest competitor while offering several advantages. This is my new favorite backpack sprayer.

    Great vid as always Ron. This Yard Mastery sprayer really seems excellent and has pretty much everything anyone can want from a sprayer. A quality build , the pressure switch , a protected battery , actually in stock to buy and seems fairly priced. Ntm the price is that much better when you factor in the two TeeJet sprayer tips which would normally add another $20-$30 on top of the purchase , which are included at no extra cost with this sprayer which still comes in lower price than the FlowZone. I have had issues with my sprayers plus 4 gallon battery sprayer pretty much since I bought it , definitely seems defective ; on to my third battery (two of which they sent me) and still does not hold a proper charge. Even if the new battery finally fixes the issue which tbh seems highly unlikely at this point , i still might be tempted to go for the Yard Mastery sprayer regardless. Given the quality , price and features on offer from the Yard Mastery sprayer.

      @@RonHenry Ron just wanted to post an update. I have been putting this sprayer through the paces over the past month, and it is working like a champ. I have ordered a few extra nozzles off Amazon just to experiment, but this machine is getting the job done. I have been running it on the lower 40psi setting, as the 90psi setting really empties the tank quite a bit faster. I get good coverage at the lower setting. I would definitely recommend this sprayer. Battery charge lasts for several tank fulls (4-5) without fading.

    • @RonHenry
      @RonHenry  Před rokem +2

      Hi Roberto. The Flowzone doesn't come with the spray tips or the nozzle adapter that the Yard Mastery does. You also have to pay for shipping. I just went the Flowzone website and the Typhoon 2.5 shipped is $355 not $315. Again, you only get the sprayer for that. No TeeJet tips. See here for yourself: imgur.com/a/Srwmekg

      @@RonHenry one more comment, would you say that the Typhoon is an apples to apples comparison against the Yard Mastery….battery life, shoulder/backpack padding and variable pressure, pressure range, warranty and refund policy?
      If not, then not a good comparison imo.
      I think the Yard Mastery is more in line with Flowzones Entry level sprayers which come in cheaper than the Yard Mastery.

    • @RonHenry
      @RonHenry  Před rokem +1

      @@robertocampos6867 I respectfully disagree Roberto. The Typhoon and Yard Mastery are very similar. I don’t like variable pressure sprayers because it’s not needed for lawn care applications.
      A high and low setting is really all you need. As I stated earlier, the YM comes with all the TeeJet nozzles required for lawn care applications which is a big convenience. If you watched my review, you’ll see that battery life is great. I have close to 12k square feet and I can spray it all multiple times without having to recharge.
      They also stand behind the sprayer. I had a viewer that bought one last year and they took care of them when there was a problem. Ultimately, you’re free to purchase whatever you like though. I see no need to update the current video. Appreciate you watching.

  • @ViciousXUSMC

    Based on this video I would probably go for the YardMastery, but lookup up everything there is now a Typhoon 2.5 (and a 3 I have not looked at) for just over $300 when in stock.
    5 position PSI from 8-115, longer run time, better comfort, still only a .63gpm flow rate, but I really have to wonder how this is calculated as it also would depend on the PSI.
    Anyways I am not here to sell the idea, actually to ask, have you looked at the new 2.5/3 model, and would you still pick the Yard Mastery? I am using a cheap $100 2 gallon sprayer right now and want to step up to something a bit better and these are the two I am looking at.

      @RonHenry  Před 2 lety +1

      You won't regret it Tim. The flowzone straps are better but I can see why YM didn't go that route due to the battery door being on the back of the unit. A heavily padded backpad would cover it up. You can mount the Flowzone straps on the YM sprayer but it'll make battery changes more of a pain.

    Very informative video Ron, thank you. I do have one question. On the Yard Mastery product you say it comes in first place with a flow rate of 1 gallon per minute but then you say in your testing it takes 76 seconds to spray a gallon. Shouldn't it be 60 seconds to spray a gallon?

    • @RonHenry
      @RonHenry  Před 2 lety +2

      1 gallon per minute is the raw flow rate of the pump Jeff. Depending on the nozzle you're using, you'll get a different number. I was wondering if you had a chance to watch the video, if have what I'm I missing lol. If you have time can watch video ( not cause conflict ) but to see what I'm missing. Heya Eric. Yep. I've seen Ginja's video. It's really good. In my opinion, battery powered sprayers that are worth using fall into 2 tiers. The 150 - 200 price range where you have the Chapin and lower-end Flowzone units, and the premium sprayers that are 250+. For me the Yard Mastery sprayer is the best premium sprayer currently because it costs less than the competition, flows more (I actually tested it) and includes the TeeJet tips. It's hard to pass up. Hope this helps.

    Just saw this pop up in my recommended videos, what do you think of this sprayer several months later?
    Also, have you seen the new DeWALT sprayer? Seems to have a lot of nice features, uses a battery that a lot of people already have (due to owning DeWALT tools) and costs less than the Yard Mastery (279 currently vs 295). Another added bonus is that it's available in store (at least here) at HD, don't have to wait for shipping. Seems to have a nice strap with waist buckle, swivel connection, stainless steel wand, etc. Even has nozzle storage built in. Would love your opinion on it and a comparison.

      @@mrcaffein I've never used the DeWalt so can't really comment on how it is. The most important step for a good result is that you calibrate your sprayer. Doesn't matter which you use, if you don't know how long it takes to output product. If you already have batteries for the DeWalt and prefer it, then go with that one. Just be sure to calibrate.

      This is good advice for people though, you need to calibrate your equipment for sure. Just wanted to see if you had heard anything about it. Have a good rest of your day and keep up the videos 👍.

    • @RonHenry
      @RonHenry  Před 2 lety

      Hi ibr80. It doesn't matter to me which one you buy. The Yard Mastery and the Flowzone Typhoon 2 / 2.5 are very comparable. If you need more than 2 pressure settings, then buy the Flowzone. I've never seen the need for that in lawn care applications. It's either high or low.
      For my needs, the inclusion of swappable Teejet spray nozzles is a bigger selling point than multiple pressure settings. Keep in mind that you'd have to have to calibrate for each of the pressures should decide to use them all. Most people aren't going to do that because it's simply not worth the effort.
      I currently own 3 sprayers (Chapin, Flowzone Typhoon 2 and Yard Mastery). I can get equally good results with all 3. If I were in the market today for a ~$300 backpack sprayer, the YM would still be my choice. I'm not saying that because I can earn a commission from selling one. (I can just as easily do the same for the Chapin and Flowzone). You should buy whichever one suits you best. Appreciate you watching. 👍😎
