  • Mohammad Reza Mortazavi is widely recognised as one of the world's best players of the tombak and the daf, two instruments central to Persian percussive music. Relying upon nothing more than a drum and his own dexterity, Mortazavi creates trance-like polyrhythmic soundscapes, complete with melodies and exquisite phrasing. As Mohammad says himself: "the sound will explain itself."

Hearing him at shambala 2019 was perhaps the most incredible musical and life experience I've ever had. The whole tent was transcended. I felt sorry for everyone else who didn't witness or experience it. Thank you for visiting and sharing your music

That is so cool! Amazing talent. I love how he said that he likes to have the music come through him rather than from him. I totally agree and I want that too in my singing.

"Für mich ist alles musik, das leben alles was passiert ist musik"
That's true actually, since everything is continuously in vibration. William Wordsworth understood this idea, and so does modern physics.
