im german and thanks to woody from bastille, i got to go to plymouth a week ago and i just LOVED the seaside! as im coming from a town with a big lake, i just miss water constantly and i loved plymouth. there had been so many dogs, seagulls and wonderful, british accents - brilliant! thx plym for a wonderful time!
Is it worth going there on a holiday? You see we live in Scarborough North Yorkshire so it would be quite a drive but I'd be willing to do it if we have a good time there.

Good video. "Plymouth" is the amalgamation of itself with Stonehouse & Devonport [originally the 'Three Towns']- the latter is not mentioned. Plymouth shown here is the original modernised city; Devonport remains cut off but Stonehouse is closer and getting more integrated. Devonport is the naval base, once biggest in Europe & used to be the major employer. No longer, as focus shifted to Scotland & nuclear subs. Even the new Aircraft Carriers are based elsewhere. Plymouth is isolated by both distance, Dartmoor, the Tamar & English channel- & thus limited in growth. No airport, poor rail link to Exeter, road link not bad. Lived there 25 years until the miners' strike & 3-day week, emigrated for opportunity. It has improved much in 10-15 years, lovely on a good summer's day but no beach to speak of. Winter is dismal, generally- Gulf stream & all that wet, windy stuff.
