  • In this video I try to highlight some of the areas where FSD has trouble, since most videos haven't required any interventions. I visit a couple of places on my work route where it commonly tries to enter the wrong turn lane (not a navigation issue, but something FSD is deciding to do on its own). One area it turns from the middle lane to the inside lane, which is not kosher, but there was no car in the left lane, so I allowed it. Thanks for watching, and please like and subscribe to help the channel!

I think the reason it’s moving to the right into that turn lane and not the others is because there is no line marking at the start of that lane like there is at the others. Then a few feet later when the lane line does appear it moves back. Basically, it was just trying to center itself in what it saw as a wider lane. Just my take on it.

You may be right. I’ve wondered what makes it prefer certain ones over others. It’s always been confusing to me, since the navigation clearly shows it going straight ahead. And for the most part since V12 it does better with wide lanes and no center line than V11 did. V11 would definitely try to center you if there was no lane divider. V12 does pretty well maintaining a normal straight path even when a lane widens or the center lane goes away. I need to look next time I head to work and see how all the other turn lane markings look. It still shouldn’t veer over like that even if the lane did widen, but I’m sure that will smooth out in future releases. Thanks for the input!
