Amazing!!!
Thank you! We loved Tallinn❤️☺️
@@PursuingMountains, I’m going there next week and I’m very excited.
@@catheyandersen5232 Wow that is so exciting!!!! Aww you'll have the best time. Just the coolest city ever
so magical!!
Thank you! Tallinn really is a magical place.
Hi.How Are you friend
Just to give another perspective how old things actually are, then this massive wooden door that you walked through at 4:37 is from 17th century. Back then there were two of them and they were locked during the nights to keep upper and lower towns separated.
That’s crazy, we loved seeing all the old buildings and learning the history.
And Olde Hansa served veggie-food??? Like real authentic ? ;-) Tallinn is my favorite city with amazingly good restaurants. The dark bread is delicious! In general the Baltic states are so unique to explore. Definately check out one of the museums of Soviet occupation and KGB head quarters. Reality hits hard....!
We loved Tallinn too and would love to explore more of the Baltic states! We did find a vegetarian dish at Olde Hansa, forest mushroom soup with that delicious dark bread 😋
@@PursuingMountains I don't want to mock vegetarians but if I see people try out "traditional dishes" from a certain location and they eat vegetarian.. sorry but there are very few authentic veggie dishes ! I sometimes eat vegetarian to keep the balance. But I don't try to replace meat in well known dishes; I rather invent new dishes with protein rich ingredients. Pasta with forest mushrooms in a sauce made of blue cheese, almond shavings and cream with fresh grinded black pepper is soooo good!
Actually in estonia in medieval times people ate a lot of veggie dishes, meat was very expensive and was not served all the time in most households. If you wanted meat you had to grow the animal yourself and there was no refridgeration in the warmed months either. Salt was used to dry the meat but that was also a lot of effort for common households. It was definately something on the table but not everyday like nowadays.
Great vlog! That medieval wall tour looked awesome. Im going to Tallinn with a friend I met in Prague in April, we are so pumped! Im traveling from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to London to meet my friend then to Tallinn. Any recommendations on flights or other things to see?
Hi! That is so awesome! We just use Google flights to book our travel usually, but we took a ferry to Estonia from Finland. We highly recommend that free Tales of Reval walking tour we showed and old hansa restaurant. Have a great trip!!!
@@PursuingMountains awesome, thank you!!
Jep, 🇪🇪Estonian traditional home made jams are completly in another level compared to mpst of the world (if not one of the best).
It was so good!!! What’s the secret to the amazing jam?
@@PursuingMountains It is made with small variations but basicly people use their own garden produce to make jams, like starting from planting till botteling, everything is done by hand and with care to make it the best.
All the steps basicly are the same.
Heating up on the stove, adding sugar and lettimg the jam smoothen out in time (usually take hours for s batch) store ones anf other places it seem they do it as short as possible, also the procedure might warry(as mentioned before we have our variations) but generally has all the same steps/points as any jam making in the world basicly.
I think it comes down to the raw ingredience and beeing pasient, overall caring about all the steps to make the best put of what you got (most food in Estonia is done the same way due to historic food sortages in times of rus occupation, before we were insla*ed yes but we still had food, basic food.
I do not want publicly to tell everyone but we could use gmail (need to go and look for the cards/notepad, where we have writen our resepies, as i have not seen it for few months, prob need to ask my mother for her resepy book).
@@KrK-EST Thank you so much for detailing it out!
Just discovered you. Thank you!
Thank you! 😊
@@PursuingMountains You're welcome!
Ummm what was that which came down the stairs at like 4:30 min in? That shadow does not look like a real person?
Love the video by the way
That does look a little strange… 👻
12:07 I think that's the Russian version of santa? There's quite a large Russian population here in Tallinn and their culture is vastly different from Estonian culture (which is similar to Finnish), so that blue santa is probably there for the Russian kids 😁
That actually makes a lot of sense! I heard a lot of Russian speakers when we were in Tallinn. I did a quick Google search and it does look like he is sort of a Slavic version of Santa Claus called Ded Moroz; very interesting.
@@PursuingMountains ded moroz is translated as daddy cold
The blue color was traditional for the German version of St. Nicholas.
What an experience! Thanks for sharing it! btw, is this an Airbnb home? We were looking to book it if possible for our Christmas 🎅
Aww that’s so fun! December is such a fun time to visit. We actually booked it on Booking, but it is someone’s apartment so it’s like airbnb. Here is the listing if you want to check it out. www.booking.com/Share-d7syL9
Great video and trip!! Do you have the link to the accomodation, by chance? Was the internet good - I'm going to be working remotely from Tallin for a week in December.
Hi! Thank you! That’s so exciting that you’ll be working there for a week! We can’t remember how good the wifi was unfortunately. But here is the link: www.booking.com/Share-rXgrYD7
May I ask name of hotel you stayed at? With cathedral in the background?
Yes it’s this one! www.booking.com/Share-cQsDk1D
I once used a bicycle in -40C for whole winter. I'm not going to do it freely anymore. Let someone else do that
Wow that’s intense! Where did you do that?
