    Personally speaking, I think there's too little risk-reward in terms of the raider holding area destruction. Back in the day (after the time machine speed nerf) preventing the shenron summon was SO much more valuable then blowing up an area. A nice in between could be that the balls can be retrieved, but a summon can't begin until the area destruction has finished, allowing the raider to have a chance to halt it.

      Solid idea. Having to wait for an area to be destroyed sounds like the best way to go about it if any summon changes happen in season 3. Would make things a bit spicy coming from a survivor main.

      That's fair. At the end of the day, the game should be raider sided, so maybe they should rework it? Idk, my experience was that intelligent raiders would just hold AD until the summon happened, and just patrol the skies in range of the X altar to snipe with supers, but that could just be user error😅

      Time Delay the summoning pedestals, the moment the balls are in and a summoning is attempted...if anything happens from destroying the area or retrieving the balls will cause all pedestals go get locked down for about 45sec to a minute. Make it more risk for that lvl 4 reward.

    Season 2 has been all about removing counterplay for the raider and the summon change is a prime example of it. Area destruction is so risky for the raider to begin with and removing its most important purpose really hurts its usefulness. Considering how the current state of lvl 4s being able to stall like crazy with unconscious control, certain ki blasts, kiting around the sky machine, and being able to replenish their meter it's just nuts that made it so easy to get now. 99% of all my games have a shenron summon and it really should be more of a special event than that.

      @@Barooth100 yeah, it's nuts. It doesn't help that I've spawned with a dragon radar and five dragonballs right next to me on multiple occasions. I really don't what they're thinking with Shenron.

    They could mix styles.
    Have it like S1 where summoning could be interrupted and not automatically collected but instead of simply leaving it behind you could have a risk/reward by going through an animation/progress bar of re-collecting the balls off the altar. This way you can still get the balls back but risk not making it out of the area-destruct and still allows for summon countering.

    I kind of agree tbh. It's kind of insane how many random matches I've been in where my team wins because of shenron.
    If you're a low evo level raider when that happens, you're just done, man 😂
    The only ones I think have somewhat of a chance are Frieza and Vegeta (Frieza definitely more than Vegeta).

    Logically it makes sense that you can retrieve the dragon balls but there are game when dragon balls are gathered in the very beginning and when that happens well at that point the raider losses majority of the time.

    I think they should make getting the dragon balls back from the alter a sequence, you press XO∆# (square) and if you correctly press each one, you get the dragon ball, but if you don't, you drop it and move to the next ball, and vice versa. Maybe we could introduce that mechanic as maybe it could make it more high risk high reward. And obviously if the area is destroyed, dragon balls are scattered? Any thoughts?

    thats absolutely a "problem" i see in S2, Survivors have so many advantages at this point that taking DBs with them on Area Destruction feels like overkill as Raider

      @@dragonleeman1283 multiple new skills that just make it easier to beat and/or escape, Instant Transmission, ther Super Saiyan Skills, buffed Rocket, Landing Nullification.
      Raiders only ever get some cooldown reduction/energy increase. no new skills or anything, some raiders even got nerfed last time i checked

    Replace taking the balls with the ability to finish the summon while the area is being destroyed but if you can't leave area in time you lose level 4 and are downed.
    This allows for survivors that are nearly done to finish and get out while giving the raider back some form of counter.
    Might need to reposition some alters seeing as it wouldn't be too hard to get out of say, Water Front C

    I never played season 1 but I do admit the survivors have it easy especially seeing the old gameplay you presented I would like more strategy forsure the dragon balls as of right now seem so easy to get off if you are aware of the map and raider location

    If I'm being honest, I miss when Survivors couldn't get all of the Dragon Balls instantly from the altar when the area where Shenron is being summoned is about to be destroyed. Survivors in Season 1 had to be smart about where to summon Shenron. Now there's just little to no risk, plus Survivors can do this to bait Raiders into destroying the area and then the Survivors could very quickly move to another area to summon Shenron there. Which is one of the main reasons why I believe survivors are much stronger than the Raider.

    In season 1 it was much more satisfying to trick the raider into destroying an area just for them to realize you were summoning on X. Now there is less of a reason to summon on X. In fa t, when playing with some friends we already had the strat that the guy with the dragonballs must have IT, so he summons in one area to make the raider destroy it while another player is waiting in another pedestal to do the real summoning. It is a broken strategy with almost no counter from the raider so we stopped doing that some time ago.
    If retrieving the dragonballs back has an interaction bar to make the survivors decide to leave the dragonballs or take them but having very little time to escape the area of destruction would be interesting, it could make the emergency escape device passive a clutch piece of equipment, or summoning in X more common again.
    Edit: Another idea would be to nerf the level 4 from the wish so it is just as viable as giving allies extra power. The othe wish is never used at all. The survivor level 4 can spam attacks with ease, and has access to all survivor kits.

    They need damage scaling in this game, the more you get continuous hit (combo) as the raider the less damage the attacks should do.

      adding that type of scaling wouldnt really help that much unless its harsh but they wont ever go that far. you are supposed to work together nerfing damage in combos or team coordination would hurt the game. this is not a fighting game like Street Fighter or guilty gear. this is a team based effort.

    I used to think of taking the dragonballs off the alter as a god send because it was annoying to lose your chance as level 4 because of the ADs. But now the raiders lose their only defense against a summon and they can only stall for a few seconds before they summon somewhere else which adds a lot of unfair pressure on the raider

    A good compromise could be only 1 of the DB scatters while you keep the other 6 or something. I didn't get the game until season 2 so I've only ever known the current DB summon meta

      Beam clashes are so possible. With the "Knock Back" stun animation similar to when Raider is transforming or when they're doing area destruction. As well as immunity to taking damage. This allowing for a clash lasting about half the amount of time it takes to destroy an area.

    The real issue is survivors not 95ink keys and allowing for the raiders to easily camp the last area . It's really annoying and easily avoidable. Just 95 every key. Frieza is ridiculous OP. Why cause yes ability to snipe u across the map and how broken level 3 is. He gets free evolution if the survivors summon and free evolution for getting beat.

    Sadly this tech is a casualty from the change of speed in game. The matches now are usually decided in 5 minutes. Evo speeds are crazy fast, survivor damage is insane. The game just got way too fast for things like this

    the thing is that raiders would camp all the time if this change wasnt made in season 2. if olaying with randoms is already dificult then imagine if there was the sason 1 db summoning nerf?

    I can't say the game will change but again it can... they can make the dragon balls harder to find or make the map bigger it's just too cluttered and small for 8 players and 1 raider with that being said though a lot of nerfs and buffs are coming for season 3 or more buffs for survival slash raider. last time it was a good balance when they showed the chart than they said ''this is not what we're looking for'' like what? LOL it was equally balanced now we're just over powered ((sometimes depend on players, levels, and play style slash what are equipped))

    The real issue with summoning is that it's the only way for survivors to consistently win and even it doesn't work half the time. The change they made to the dragonballs is fine it was way too easy for Raiders to counter summoning and they still can area destruction still stops summons from happening and Raiders can rush to the pedestal and get the wish for themselves.

      @@ironcane That's because Cell was stuck in his area destruction and Cells lvl 3 has no long range attacks Vegeta, Frieza, and Buu all have long range attacks that can hit the person summoning from multiple zones away which resets the bar allowing them to get to the pedestal. I've lost plenty of games that way the Raider stops the summoning gets to the pedestal and that's it GG. Like I said the dragonballs are pretty much the only way to beat a high level Raider so giving them a way to not only stop the summon but also scatter the dragonballs making it easier for the Raider to find them was too much.

      @malachigrundstein7139 Cell has a Snipe called gravity impact to Snipe with. And my point is because you can just take the balls with you to the next pedestal the raider doesn't even have the opportunity to Snipe because they were still in their animation.

      @@ironcane Does Gravity Impact go real far though? Didn't think it had that much range I don't see Cell players use it often. I could see shaving off some time from Area Destruction but I think that part of the game has been figured out pretty well the devs need to focus on adjusting damage on both sides.
