    To be fair the old match lake needed this work badly. I fished it for years when it was a club water there were some cracking carp in there then and Perch...sadly the carp anglers weren’t too popular on the match lake but it was a great runs water.
    So many happy memories there we need to get down and ave a look round.. A lot of hard work and investment gone into it by the looks of it ...great work guys 👍

    Would love to see a lot of other lake owners put as much effort in as this. Too many coarse fish in most carp lakes. Well done.

    What happened to all the silvers?

    I get removing the bream as im a carp fisherman myself but removing so many small silver fish wont the pike you left now struggle? Good work removing the snags.

      Its not natural having a carp only lake.

    • @gocatchfish
      @gocatchfish  Před 3 měsíci +1

      You are quite correct, the team at Barnstone did not remove all of the silver fish and coarse species. Seine netting does ever work to 100% efficiency and some of the larger specimens were returned.

    Looks like you done a great job on that pool just hope the pike hsve plenty of food left their a dying breed as not too many fisheries stock them and a lot of natural waters are being poached terribly

      We have also seen less like being introduced on waters however with the correct management like done here this will often help to encourage the like to do well hopefully resulting in some larger fish present! It is a fine line with being over run with jack pike and the bigger girls coming through.

      @@gocatchfish 100% agree totally but those big girls will definitely help keep the jack population down let's face it in nature females always find a way to put us men in our place no matter the species

    What happens to the bream.

      Some of these were passed on to other venues and taken by the fishery management team.

    What a shame! Barnstone was renowned for being one of the best match fishing venues in the midlands. Just another bog standard carp place now. Very sad to see the downfall of such a great venue!

    No silvers no point fishing that lake anymore

    • @gocatchfish
      @gocatchfish  Před 3 měsíci

      There will always be a select few of silvers and some at better weights so it may be worth investigating!
