okay so i decided to try Guinea pig (Cuy) for the first time in Cusco, Peru after all the stories I kept hearing growing up. It was banging. The meat was super tender, juicy and stringy. I would definitely eat it again.

The origin of the guinea pig is very ancient. Since it was domesticated in the Andes more than 3,000 years ago, it was consumed by the Incas. It is part of Peruvian culture. Before being a pet, it was a food resource. Many people in Peru's mountains have the cuy as their principal protein resource because guinea pigs adapt to any weather and altitude.

iv raised guinea pigs for 8 years now . and i can tell you that they make better friends then snacks . they are very smart . can learn tricks in a matter of days . and they can grow attached to you . if you give them enough time . you will see them enjoy your presence and company . they will look forward to seeing you and love you . that to me is worth more then any meal they could provide to me

In some countries people would say the same thing you are saying about cow and pork, but in the end each culture is different. As long as each animal is slaughtered humanely is what matters

Personally I don’t agree with it but we need to understand there are different cultures in this world and not everyone has the same mentality to survive. Back in the days we probably ate anything that moved before we had compassion towards animals which we still don’t do to the extent. We still eat chickens, pigs, cows etc so can’t blame other cultures for their love for food in other animals.

As someone who has 4 guinea pig this make me cry and I don’t agree with it but we need to understand there are different cultures in this world and not everyone has the same mentality to survive.
